Best part about this place it's free! Abit difficult to get to via public transport. I took the bus here and from the main road there's no signs so thank God for Googlemaps. We also tried the cafe . It's hard to beat a free experience and even harder to not gawk at the marvelous planes and automobiles (but no trains...yet) that Red Bull has lounging about at their equally beautiful and well designed Hangar 7, which is located adjacent to, but not next to, Salzberg's modestly sized international airport. The staff is incredibly friendly, offering to store my carry on at a secure location and eager to answer any questions I may have had about Hangar 7. There's also a gift shop that sells really cool Red Bull related merch, even things you never needed to pair with your Red Bull drink. In short, if you want to, and have the time to, get away from Salzberg's more historic sites and you want to check out things that look like they can move really really fast and look really really cool doing it, Hangar 7 is your place to go to. read more

This museum is really good for only specific group of people but if you love airplanes, must visit here. Located near the Salzburg airport, I took a regular bus to get here from downtown Salzburg. I think a taxi was about 20€ but bus fare was included in the Salzburg card. Walk to the nearby bus stop was about 4 minuets. Admission is free. It was rather smaller than I anticipated but it's free and they do have some legendary aircrafts if you are into such things. Because it is small inside, my stay here was about an hour. Overrated and underwhelming. If you're into a lot of Red Bull things (planes, cars, motorcycles) and random art on the walls, this may be your thing. There is an expensive cafe and a small store on-premise. And that's it. If they had allowed people to walk around the insides of the planes, things might have been a bit more interesting. Recommend visiting during daytime hours. LOVED all the Aviation and Racing displays. Although hard to see at night with the changing colored theater/mood lighting. Even harder to get decent photos. I had watched a daytime YouTube tour before I we went so was somewhat disappointed in the experience. Guess I'll have to come back! Also, there is an adjacent glass hanger a couple hundred yards away that looked like it had some realty cool aircraft. It was the best meal I have ever had in my entire life hands down and I'm a big foodie! The service was impeccable. I had 3 waiters to myself and they treated me like royalty! Somehow, I was expecting something a little more out of this place. My group tour had this place as an option, so I thought I'd pay it a visit. Let me attempt to describe what this place is... Red Bull's CEO has three passions: Food, Art, and Planes. There is artwork on the walls, while there are some interesting paintings, I don't think there are any works by Picasso. The food we didn't have an opportunity to try. Restaurant(s) are expensive, and need reservations months in advance. I also find it fascinating that the menu changes monthly, and chefs compete (in a manner of speaking) to have their menus featured. Coffee shop inside was closed when I wanted to buy from them. There is also a curious cocktail bar at the very top... we did not have a chance to visit... but the cool thing is this: since an emergency exit is required, but the architect did not want to add another ramp, the emergency exit is an airplane escape slide that is activated in an emergency. Pretty cool! The planes in this place are also quite cool! Most are in some way historic, and all of them can actually fly. To fly some you need special licenses, work in the maintenance hanger (no 8 - not open to the public) and a ton of money!! There are some Formula One cars here too (with engines removed for some reason). If you like planes, have money to spend on expensive food, are fascinated by architecture, or really like art, then this place is worth a visit. If you don't like any of these, then maybe it is not for you. Still, you can't beat free! Especially since it is not far from the town center of Salzburg. read more

Wow! The architecture and free ticket alone make it worth a visit. The building feels like it came out of an artist's dream! I'm not an airplane buff, but they have lots of WWII airplanes on display, and some great restaurants on site. If WWII is your thing, or if you're looking for a really fancy meal, don't miss it!! read more

This place is a gear heads dream come true. This is a very cool place to visit if you are in the Salzburg area and its FREE!! We came here on a recommendation form another colleague and was not disappointed. Very cool experience. This guy definitely knows how to have a good time. if you venture outside there is a free Bocce court where you can have a few drinks and play Bocce with your friends. If I was rating on food/value alone, I would give it a 2.5 stars. The reason it gets 4 stars is the ambiance. I looked forward to going here for 2 years and I have to say that the food was a little disappointing. I am a fan of 6 course meals but not when they are served 45 minutes apart. I was here for 4 hours and most of the time was spent waiting on a portion of food that maybe had 3-4 bites. Maybe I wouldn't have minded if the food was out of this world good to die for but it was just ok. I recently had a burger at Wendy's fast food chain that was better if that tells you anything. The good thing is that they change the chef and menu every month, so maybe it was just the chef at the time that I didn't like. read more

We only visited the exhibition area which is free to the public. Plenty of formula 1 racing cars and other fast toys to pour over but probably only enough to hold your interest for 20 to 30 mins. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area but not necessarily if you have a trek to get there. read more
