I'm torn on this one. I understand that a small town is going to give a different experience than I might find in a big city, but I felt borderline unsafe here. My travel partner and I definitely stick out-we don't look like the traditional "small town, conservative" bunch, and I think that was noticed. The guy who waited on us had a look of disdain as he asked what we wanted and seemed to delight in telling us that our first choices were unavailable. We eventually landed on the "hot hamburger" since it was written up on the daily special board. When he brought them out, he literally dropped them on the table-I jumped, I was so startled-without a word. The plates had remnants of mashed potatoes on the sides-not sure if they were dirty dishes or just had some cross contamination from a nearby plate. However, the "hot hamburger" (which was an open-face burger over bread with gravy on top) was delicious. We both wondered if there was anything beside the expected ingredients in our food, but we ate it anyway. It really was good-I have to hand it to them for that. read more

What a lovely spot and so worth the drive to get here. Service = We had an such a lovely waitress. She was on top of everything we needed and got us our food super quickly. Even had a nice little conversation with her about the area. Couldn't have been more lovely and good at her job. Food = I got The Duke and the cheeseburger was so big I could only eat half. It was also so fantastic. Came with tons of nice sides and all the bacon you could ask for. The side salad was also quite lovely. We got the potato wedges and the onion rings as well and both we amazing. I'd recommend either of those sides and any of the burgers. The vibe = Thus place is so rad. It is a very popular destination for motorcycle rides and I can totally see why. I'm planning on a trip here this summer to check out the bar area more and also plan on staying in one of the rooms upstairs. Overall = This place knows what it is and has perfected it. It's hometown food with hometown service that has a vibe that is hard to duplicate. If you are close at all then check this place out. You'll not regret it! read more

TOURIST TAX-Oh my goodness!! I should've turned towards camp rather than go here!!! I was charged $11.00 for a BURNT FRIES and grilled cheese and I do mean BURNED Fries (Honestly DARK brown). I am still mad that I LET that man put that plate down in front of me. (Even more so that I didn't take a picture). Next time someone tries to take advantage, I'll ask "WOULD YOU EAT THAT?" Drove 2 hours on a friends recommendation to give this place a try. Always trust a poly when it comes to food recommendations! This place was worth the trip! If you're craving home style country cooking with a splash of John Wayne, this is the place for you. We had the chicken fried steak, fish and chips, and the gravy covered cheese fries. soooo good! But the real gem this place has to offer is the pie, WOW!!! The crust was amazing, the flavor was off the charts. We had the blueberry and peach, and all I can say is wow! The atmosphere and the new owners are very friendly and the service was every bit as good as the food. Don't pass this place up on your scenic drive. There's a homey cafe on one side of the building, and a cozy bar on the other. I popped in just a couple minutes after the kitchen had closed, but the bartender scoured the back for some food and came out with tasty homemade salsa and chips. This, a nice dark bottle of local beer, and some entertaining conversation was enough to tide me over before I drove on in search of culinary sustenance. I heard this place was a classic stop for bikers riding through on the 35 so I had to check it out. When I pulled up, there were already 8-9 bikes in the parking lot. I had the bacon cheese burger. Great diner food and service. Staff was very polite and talkative. In fact, I don't think the word staff is right for places like this. It doesn't do them justice. Fast friends would probably be more accurate. I spent extra 30 minutes there talking to the other riders. Also loved the look of the old building. Great highway, great cafe and great people. I have eaten there several times. A friend told me that their sausage breakfast is the best that he has ever had and now it is the best that I've ever had. When touring with my Motorcycle group or passing through with my family I always stop there. It has a small town neighborly "cooked from scratch" feel and I enjoy the people in Hanna! We fish in the area. Eat lunch there and sometimes dinner in the same day. Very good and inexpensive. Waitresses are friendly, by the end of summer they feel like family. Love, love love it! read more
