I could tell since many of the "private label" Stop & Shop items were sold here. I was in the neighborhood getting gas at the BJ's when I realized I needed some water for my trip, so I drive across the street to this grocery store to get my water. The store is very roomy...like their produce section is very spread out making shopping a real pleasure...the aisles all over the store are also very wide and very well kept. Usually Hannaford products are good but I purchased Alaskan cod, natures promise brand. All pieces were small and had a high moisture content. Not one to pay for water in food. I love this Hannafords! This is now my supermarket of choice. The staff is so wonderful. The folks in the deli are awesome; as are the seafood and butcher staff. I love their organic/natural section; so much cheaper than the health food store in town. I like the Knudsen brand tart cherry juice. I buy it here for $5.99...exact same thing at the health food store is $9.99 (I mean is that crazy or what?). The store is bright and clean...product displays are appealing. I am so tired of having to pick through spoiled or wilted produce to find something that's half way decent, only to get home and find out it's half spoiled too. The produce department has gone way down hill over the last year. I love this place. This is my go-to grocery shopping store, along with Saigon market. They have almost everything I need. And anything they don't have, I can find at Saigon market. But what I really love about this place is the seafood staff. Yes, the staff that sells you seafood. Behind the glass counter. And the lobster tank in the middle of the tiled floors. Them. They make this place wonderful. They are the most adorable crew of men you will ever find in your life. They always greet you with a smile and make jokes with you. They recognize the regulars that come and poke fun at you for being there so often. They are always sooo happy and friendly, telling jokes and stories to each other to keep themselves entertained, so goofy that you have to laugh with them and you can't help but go in smiling and leave smiling and happy with a heavy sack of freshly boiled seafood. You guys are the best! Seafood makes my day, but you guys make it so much better. :) read more

I used to shop here a lot more often especially early in the morning during the week, but lately the service at the registers has left a lot to be desired! The prices have skyrocketed, and when trying to check out at that time all they have open is the express line so many items and less. I usually have half or more of a grocery cart full, and have to use this isle. But then the stress heats up with these hurried customers, that are very unhappy and sometimes very rude when trying to check out. I often have left feeling very stressed at this store lately! I usually have spent a lot of money at this store, and ask myself "is this the kind of service that I am paying for"? Sorry that this happened much of the time. read more

Customer service is impressive. The checkout clerk failed to put all our items back in the cart. This is the second time this has happened here in recent weeks. When we realized something was missing it was too late to go back to the store. I spoke to the manager on the phone the next day. This is probably the WORST location that they have. They never have anything, the employees are rude and clearly don't care at all about their jobs. I was there recently and there was a garbage receptacle sitting right in the middle of the floor which smelled like sour milk and just generally smelling like a garbage receptacle right there for all customers to experience during a busy shopping time. That is UNACCEPTABLE. Nobody was tending to it, it was just sitting there. I couldn't even get to the products I was trying to get because the smell was so bad. And then they have some 16 year old stating you down in self checkout like they think all of their customers are thieves. I spend a lot on groceries per week, I don't need to be treated so disrespectfully! And they aren't even subtle about it - they are literally standing right over you. Not to mention the blatant price gouging - Hannaford is notorious for this and if you have any question about that look at how they took advantage of people when Market Basket when they went on strike. They only pay their employees $12 an hour no matter how long they've been there so where is all that extra money going? They're certainly charging enough to pay their employees better and I know this because I worked part time for the company for a few months- it is an AWFUL place to work. Skip the Hannafords "To Go" option I've done it around 60 or 70 times now. 1st 10-15 times I got really good service. Now, I can't order produce or meat through the drive through. I have to toss 90% of all produce within 3 days. Meat, they can't seem to get right either. I order 3 piece's and the give me 3.5 pounds. More than once, they clearly don't read the notes section. Also, they have started to substitute the name brands even though I say "NO SUBSTITUTIONS!" Also, it's now take 15 to 20 minutes to pick them up. Hmmm, so it takes me 20 minutes to place the order since the site is a little awkward to navigate, I have to wait another 20 minutes to get my order, I have to check the receipt when I get home vs what I got (charged for 3.5 lbs or chicken (ordered 3 pieces) got NONE). Ugggg, the chicken wasn't for us, so I wonder if we have ever missed anything else. For a $5 service fee, and 45 minutes of my time, this is a SKIP offer. I've realized, I loved this option when it started but it doesn't work in the real world. We split our groceries between Hannafords-60%, MB-10%, Aldi10%, Whole Foods 10%, Butchers 10%. I think by the end of this year they will be less than 30%. read more

We have been loyal customers for over 30 years, even when Shaws and Stop N Shop came onto S. Willow. After tonight, it is OVER. No one likes change, I get that. But really? Every week I go in for my groceries and you have moved yet another section around so we have to walk aimlessly around. When we finally get our groceries you have ONE, yes ONE register open with 5 people in line. Tonight we went to self check out, so we didn't have to wait for service and the darn machine kept jamming making us wait on the CS MGR/Supr to come back to figure it out. When my hubby stated his frustration to her, she didn't acknowledge or even look at him, she finished doing what she had to do and walked away. Not once, not twice, THREE times. UNACCEPTABLE. You may not like confrontation, but seriously you should at the very least acknowledge the customer. Before you say it, I am NOT doing the To Go. That is not a solution to your terrible customer service. We have discussed it and have decided that after tonight we will go to another grocery store, even if I have to drive 5 miles out of my way each week. read more

Freshest meat and Produce that I can count on. I won't go anywhere else, not even Market Basket. They have better and more affordable deals than Wal-Mart. What's better is that they also have a kitchen and eat in area to grab lunch or dinner, and they make the food in front of you! The stir fry is so worth it! And they still have the hot bar, grab to go sandwiches and increased their variety on salads and snacks. I love this store! The staff is super helpful and amazingly nice. They work efficiently and quickly to help you find what you're looking for and for check out. I love the Hannaford to Go option also! Makes it easy for me on a busy day when I don't have time to go into the store to shop for myself. The shoppers pick the best selections of fruit and veggies and meat. I have never had a problem with this option. For $5 for someone to do my shopping for me, is a steal! This is my favorite store! read more

Love this store. Deli and bakery staff are very friendly and associates who are stocking shelves always say hi and ask if you need help finding anything. Cashiers and service clerks are fast and friendly. I'm glad they changed the self-ring lanes to small orders, too many people with full carts were using hem before. At the end of August my debit card was double charged. They know about this error and still haven't fixed it. I left the proof from my bank and my information at the customer service desk with the cashier there since the manager was not available and was told that I would get a call from her. The money still hasn't been returned in my bank account and I still haven't heard from them to even explain their process of how long or what needs to be done to get my money back. I look forward to hearing them explain themselves and what they plan on doing to make this right. It's almost a couple weeks now. That's bad service!:( read more

This is a complaint for this store. I went there today on my lunch break and spend the whole time waiting in the express (14 items or less) line. It was line number 7 and the cashier's name was Sarah. The woman in front of me had over 4 bags of groceries and spent $85.00. And this happens all the time. I do not know why Hannaford allows this. I've seen people turned out of the express lane at Market Basket. Your employees need to be more assertive when something like this happens. Everyone in line behind me were angry. Most of the people were just in there to grab a quick bite to eat. But there was nothing "quick" about it. read more

I was blown away by the cleanliness, organization, and overall experience when I stopped in for the first time. This hannaford NEVER has enough registers open, and the bathrooms are usually gross. Only gave 3 stars due to the staff, very pleasant.

The pharmacy here is the best. This is the second time in the past few months that my prescription has been ready after just leaving the doctors office when it was phoned in by the doctor. When you are sick the last thing you want to do is wait for your prescription. It only takes fifteen minutes or so to get to the Hannaford pharmacy on John Devine Dr. from my doctors office and both times my prescription was ready. The pharmacists and pharmacy technicians here are exceptional! read more

Love getting the Stir Fry here BUT one of the cooks (Adam) with the face piercings.. should not be on that grill. My chicken was not cooked fully (After I requested it extra well done even) I had to pick it out and throw it away. My co-workers say the same! I shop at Hannafords a lot. I'm there all the time. There are many things I love about it: it's always clean and the staff is always courteous. My main issue is their pricing. I have noticed, especially at this particular store, that prices can change on different days when it concerns the meats. Some days the pork chops are plentiful and cheap, other days they are expensive. That is without any kind of sale. I also notice that they tend to price strangely for the bigger product for example: a 14oz tub of tabouli is $5.99 but the 7oz tabouli is 2 for $5.00. You have to watch them for that. I also had that happen with rice as well. The 5lb bag was $2.99 and the 10lb bag was $6.99. So if you think you are getting a deal for the bigger size, you are wrong! That is my only problem with Hannafords. In every other way they are fantastic. read more

Of all the grocery stores in the area Hannaford is without a doubt the best of the bunch. They have the lowest prices, freshest produce, best meat department, and the grocery items tend to be right where you'd expect them to be. My only complaint is that there are a few items that I like that they don't carry which forces me to go to the other stores which can be very inconvenient. I understand that they can't carry everything, but the items that they're missing are very common. Very strange. read more

As far as grocery stores go Hannafords is the best in NH as far as my family is concerned. The prices are fantastic, the sales are spectacular, and the product is unbeatable. Its true market basket is a little cheaper (and i mean a little) on some things, but the selection at Hannaford far outweighs MB. The product is the best I can find too as far as freshness. The "All Natural" and Organic selections exceeds any other grocery around here as well. Furthermore the Hannaford on John E Devine is the furthest from where Im located in Manchester, but it is worth the drive. I have never had a bad experience there and the employees are by far the friendliest and most helpful, even of all the Hannafords in this area-and Ive never had a bad experience at ANY hannaford so that's saying a lot. I would highly reccomend this store to anyone moving to the area thats looking for great selection, product, and price. read more

This Hannaford Supermarket is great, they have everything in order and easy to find. Three stars because -the On the go is no go in my book. The service is a waste of time. I have given the service three chances. None worth my time. First time huge line, half the stuff was not available whish is not true because I had to go inside the store to get it myself. This last time I got a confirmation and when I got to the store 4 hrs later they said my order was not there. It takes longer to complete the process than to actually do the shopping yourself. read more
