I am a burger conservative-even a burger bigot-so I don't know whether it is a good thing that they have a large selection of burgers, ranging from classic burgers with cheddar cheese to internationally-inspired (and I guess experimental) burgers such as burgers with chorizo and dates; nachos, guacamole and salsa; or shrimps and pineapple. As the side dishes, you choose among pommes, curly fries or potato wedges. Especially curly fries are strongly recommended. Herr Lehmann has two serious problems in my opinion. The first one is that it is really difficult to enjoy the taste of the patty as other condiments and sauces dominate the taste. Take the burger "Der Platzhirsch" I had once, for instance. Due to the tangy BBQ sauce, the onions and bacon, I could not really enjoy the taste of an obviously juicy, delicious and properly medium cooked patty. Even basic burgers such as "Herr Lehmanns Cheddar" have the same problem. Burgers taste good, no discussion about it, but I am sure customers would be happier if they can enjoy the taste of the patty-the backbone of a good burger. The other problem is about their buns. Neither ciabatta nor dinkel buns are suitable for burgers I guess. Especially ciabatta bun is so crusty that the patty slides off the bun, leaving you eating the patty, bun and other condiments separately with knife and fork. To quote a view on the best burger bun: "The ideal soft burger bun should be pillowy, squishy, and tender, with a tight but soft crumb and a distinct sweetness. It should hold up nicely to the burger's juices, but should never be tough or cottony. On the opposite end of the spectrum, you don't want a burger that disintegrates half way through your meal." I 100% concur with what's said above. Unfortunately buns at Herr Lehmann are not meeting these standards. It was a huge disappointment for me. Overall, despite its drawbacks, Herr Lehmann might be one of the best places to have gourmet burgers in such a nice atmosphere. With a few minor changes, there is no reason why it cannot be the best burger restaurant in town and a mecca for real burger lovers.

The burger selection is a good one with many different choices that will leave any burger lover wishing they could try at least 5 of them. It was more of a sweet and salty burger which I am starting to love more and more. It had Brie cheese, with a berry sauce. This was very good and a 5 star recommendation. The fries were ok but being able to have as much mayo, ketchup, barbecue, or honey mustard is great. My friend had the sweet potato fries and I would say pay the extra euro for these because they are much better. Since coming to Germany I have tried many burgers. Some sweet and some savory. But there are two burgers that have been standouts. One is the Geissbock from Hans Im Glück. This burger has just about everything I love in a burger, sweet with the fig sauce, savory with the bacon and just to crank it up a notch the goat cheese or ziegen kase it's called here. The Wild West Burger is what I think of a typical American Burger. The taste was good with the barbecue sauce and onions but it isn't very special to me. Probably a 4 star burger. When I arrived to meet our group, I was a bit stunned at how LOUD the place was, but, that's a given at most restaurants these days. I bucked the typical burger options and - full of hope - went for a breadless burger, the Hoffnungsträger, which was advertised as a "juicy beef patty with argula, parmesan, and parmesan dressing". I split an order of fries with a friend. The plate presentation was good, and my mouth was watering... until I had the first bite of the burger. I hadn't been asked how I would like it cooked, but I hoped for something closer to medium well, so that I would be able to taste the real flavor of the meat. Instead, the patty was overcooked and completely dry. Fortunately, the burger patty was absolutely drenched in both the parmesan dressing and a mysterious orange-colored sauce that wasn't listed in the description, adding a bit of moisture. It was edible, but not enjoyable. I continued to hold out hope for the thick cut fries - which were obviously not homemade, but looked tasty nonetheless. The fries were cooked very well, crispy on the outside, nice and soft on the inside, but were over salted, so we didn't even finish the small order. I applaud HiG for their range of very inventive burger options - from beef to chicken to vegetarian... I just wished the food had tasted better.

The fries are alright kinda small with no so many of them. They did have good kinds of ketchup like pepper ketchup and jalapeño ketchup. Also good hot sauces like chipotle, jalapeño and habanero. The salad is literally a piece of lettuce, a tomato, onion and two pickles but they are for your burgers not a real salad. You also get 4 pieces of bread with a good garlic sauce and like 10 olives which was nice. I ordered the Country Burger which is a basic burger with bacon, Canadian bacon and a sunny side up egg. I thought this sounded really good but also the other burger choices were a little boring typical American burgers. The Country Burger was good but quite greasy. The Canadian bacon was no good at all so I didn't eat it. But the burger had good taste but it was missing something. All that for 11.50€

The portion is okey but there is nothing special about the taste. Sadly, he felt he can do a better burger at home. For their pricey menu, we expected more. The service was just okey until we wanted to pay the bill. The waitress totally forgot us! Zur Happy Hour nach dem Essen noch gemütlich einen Cocktail getrunken und das böse erwachen auf der Rechnung, dass trotzdem zwei Cocktails berechnet wurden. Auf Nachfrage warum, hieß es das wir ja auch 2 Personen sind und die Happy Hour nicht teilbar ist. Heißt also: Wir hätten insgesamt zu zweit jeder nur einzeln das Angebot bekommen und somit insgesamt 4 Cocktails trinken müssen Man hat uns natürlich bei bitten um die Rechnung auch nicht darauf hingewiesen, dass wir theoretisch noch 2 Cocktails offen haben. Selbstverständlich ist diese unglaubliche Klausel, die wir so auch noch in keiner Gastronomie persönlich erlebt haben, auch nirgends auffindbar. Weder im Restaurant noch auf der Homepage. So schafft man es tatsächlich auch, wegen 10€, seine Stammkunden zu vergraulen. Update 1: Auf meine erste Rezension wurde vom Inhaber kommentiert mit der Bitte um Kontaktaufnahme per Email. Es hätte sich wohl um einen Kommunikationsfehler gehandelt und sie wollten dies gerne klären. Email wurde von mir selbstverständlich geschrieben, verblieb aber ca eine Woche ohne Antwort. Erst nach einem Update hier, wurde geantwortet. Update 2: Ein paar Tage nach meinem Update, kam eine Email mit der Bitte ich solle doch meine Telefonnummer übermitteln, hätte man ja bereits bei der Antwort auf meine Rezension drum bitten können, um das ganze telefonisch zu klären. Ich habe keine 5 min. zum Antworten gebraucht und um schriftliche Kommunikation gebeten. Sagen wir so, dass ist jetzt auch mal wieder 2 Wochen her ohne Antwort oder jegliche Reaktion. Lasst es doch bitte einfach wenn ihr leere Versprechungen macht und hier selbst um eine Klärung bittet, euch aber offensichtlich nicht in der Lage befindet eine Klärung überhaupt durchzuführen. Das Thema war für uns erledigt. Durch dieses jetzige absolut unprofessionelle Verhalten, macht ihr es nur noch schlimmer.
