Looking for a late night Korean spot? Hanshin is the place to enjoy some great drinks and food. The restaurant/bar isn't as busy in the later hours but nonetheless it hits the spot for cravings. We opted for the Korean fried chicken and the bulgogi fries. The chicken was super flavorful and crunchy while the fries packed a lot of different textures and flavors. My personal fave was the egg on top and the bulgogi, which amped the dish even more! The tables are arranged differently and they have coverings which makes it a bit more private. However the service could use some work, you have to ring a button which is typical and honestly didn't expect great service for late night. Really nice, laid back pocha with great vibes and staff. All of the tables are separated by tent-like tarps, so when you sit inside it feels cozy & private, almost like you're in a pojangmacha in Seoul. I did appreciate the intimacy and it made it easier to hear everyone in my party. Loved the drinks- highly recommend their green apple makgeolli in particular. When our server found out it was my birthday, she brought us another bottle of makgeolli, completely complimentary. It was so sweet of her to do so, and totally unexpected. Of the food, I especially loved their potato jeon (glutinous and chewy), seafood jeon (super flavorful), and ppurings korean fried chicken (pretty much perfect kfc). I was super excited to try their cheese snowing chicken since it's my favorite korean fried chicken flavor, but it didn't have enough cheesiness or seasoning in my memory. Came here on a Saturday night for a late dinner. I liked that the bell system allowed for us to request assistance when we needed it. We ordered the nurungji seafood soup, the roasted squid, and some bibim guksu. It was my first time trying bibim guksu. I enjoyed the texture of the noodles and the balance of flavor though I'd have preferred it to be spicier. I liked the flavor of the soup, but it was missing the nurungji. I thought the squid was ok. One of my favorite things about Korean food is the banchan and unfortunately when I went they only had kimchi available. Although I like the bell service, I found it hard to get the attention of an attendant when trying to pay and leave the restaurant. This is a great spot for hanging out and drinking with friends. The place has nice decor and good vibes. It's called Pocha, and it really gives you that authentic pocha feel -- like the red tent-style street stalls in Korea that usually serve hot food. Personally, I found it a bit warm inside the tent since there isn't much airflow (the tent blocks it), and these tents are typically meant for outdoor use to protect from cold and wind. My friends and I ordered a bunch of food and drinks, and the bill came out to under $130 -- cheaper than we expected for everything we had. The prices are very reasonable! Here's what we tried: - French Fries - They didn't look quite like the photo on the menu, but they were still good and simple, like any fries. - Corn Cheese - Really tasty! I liked the cheese they used. - Ramyun - Came with an egg; simple and classic, just like any good ramyun. - Rose Tteokbokki - Creamy, flavorful, and loaded with toppings. I did feel this one was a little pricey compared to the rest. - Kimchi Fried Rice - Well-seasoned and a huge portion. Even with four of us, we had plenty of leftovers. - Sweet and Spicy Fried Chicken - Delicious, crispy, and a large portion. We devoured it! - Korean Beef Short Rib - Huge portion and nicely seasoned. They offered white rice with it, but we passed since we already had the fried rice. Everything was great -- amazing ambiance, excellent service. I want to start off with I loved it here initially, it was everything I was looking for that was not in Bellaire. BUT things have changed. Again. And again. And again. I've been going somewhat regularly since June and the menu, the portions, the sauces have changed. It definitely looks very similar to stalls in Korea ( as of last time I went.) and I really liked their soy garlic boneless wings. They used to have a white sauce that could go with it, and I asked for it most recently and they said it's gone. The portions, the texture, and the sauces have changed so much. I was a little frustrated because that was the third time it looked and tasted different. I asked what happened and apparently the management changed, as well as the chef. Actual rating: 4.5/5 stars Me and my friends stopped by Hanshin Pocha on a Tuesday night for dinner. The tables here have these orange curtains separating them, which I thought was nice. It made it a little more private. The tables also have a little station with napkins, chopsticks, straws, hand sanitizer, and a trash can. Once you're ready to order, there's a button that you can press to have a server come to your table. Service was a little slow here. It was relatively busy though, and maybe they're also understaffed? What I dooon't understand though, is why the same song kept playing over and over on repeat the entire time. It was "goodbye with smile" by Soya n Sun. And it wasn't even the whole song playing on repeat, just one section of the song. But it's fine, my main priority is the food, which was very good! We ordered: - Corn cheese - Sweet & spicy chicken wings (small size) - On-the-spot rose tteokbokki - Korean beef short rib So starting off with the corn cheese, the corn was crunchy and sweet! The cream was also good, and it was sooo cheesy! I can't believe I'm saying this, but maybe a little tooo cheesy. I would've liked more corn and less cheese. But overall, this was still very good, and definitely one of the better corn cheese that I've had. The corn cheese is listed as a starter though, but it came at the very end of our meal, which was kinda ironic. One thing that I LOVE about this pocha is the food that is listed as spicy, is ACTUALLY spicy!! I've been to a good amount of pochas, and for some reason, their "spicy" food is never spicy. Even to my low spice tolerance friends and family. So I was so happy when the sweet and spicy chicken wings and the rose tteokbokki had a nice kick to it! The wings were super crispy as well. The only issue I had with it was some parts of the batter was a little cold for some reason? The actual chicken was warm though. The rose tteokbokki was my favorite thing there! Found this place on google and decided to stop in and try it out. We found out that they do a student discount on Friday nights with valid ID and course registration! Everything here was yummy, but the portion sizes were rather small for the price we paid. We got the rose tteokbokki which cooks on the table in front of you. I wish there were more rice cakes or noodles in the dish, but I loved how creamy the sauce was. We also got the spicy soy garlic chicken wings, which were not very spicy, but the flavor was other wise yummy. It also came out hot and crispy which I love. The cheese corn was also yummy and came out super hot. My favorite part of it was the scorched cheese. The last item we ordered was the rice balls, and these were bigger than we thought they would be and super filling. Be careful with these, because they tend to fall apart (these also go really well with the rose tteokbokki sauce). We came to Katy Asia town to check out this pocha place on a Friday night. Luckily we arrived before the dinner rush and got a table at the booth for 6 people. The push for service button made it easier to order or catch our waitress' attention when we needed a refill. They have a pretty simple menu of all the food you would typically see at a pocha place. We ordered the following for our table: - corn cheese: this was different than what I expected from the usual corn cheese. The cheese was a bit too creamy and threw me off but the portion was big enough to share. - french fries: plain french fries, we thought there would be more seasoning so we asked for spicy mayo which made it a bit better. - sweet and spicy wings (small): not nearly as spicy as we would have liked so it was mostly sweet. The flavors should be more balanced. - soy garlic wings (small): pretty decent flavor. The wings were a good size and a size small gives you 6 wings. - Korean beef short rib: the marinate on the short rib was good but eating it white rice would have been better to balance the flavor. - rose rice cake, added the ramen: this dish took the longest since we had to wait for it to heat up. At one point, it started to burn a little. It needed more noddles so we ordered a side of ramen. Ramen is a much better choice. - stir fried pork, kimchi with tofu: I wasn't a fan of the tofu but the stir fried pork with kimchi was good. We also ordered a few bottles of soju. It was pretty alright, a bit too much yogurt flavor. Overall, the food was a bit of a missed for us but we were still able to finish everything. as a Korean, I can see. I don't have a very good experience here. I just moved here from California and wanted to give this place a try as there's a lot of karaoke here in Houston and I was like oh nice decoration and ambience. This place might be true to the Korean core but I was very wrong. I went there with my wife and my three year-old toddler and requested a large room so that my toddler can have some room to play around because this is the only way that me and my wife could go out and enjoy ourselves and have a couple drinks. Anyhow, they're very skeptical that we are about to get a most expensive room for the three of us and give a weird fuss over it but I was like no I was willing to pay and then they're just acting very strange and I don't know if it's out from California or because I'm Korean Long story short, their food's expensive even for my California like LA standards it's all from H Mart and they just microwave it and I just got a really bad vibes every time they'll come give me a weird side eye because believe it or not I speak Korean and I am treated pretty nicely because I try to be as polite as possible, but I was just getting a short end of everything so not going here ever again read more

I like coming here for good Korean food and alcoholic drinks. My favorite is spicy chicken feet. If you haven't tried it, you haven't tasted the real Korean food yet. I also like their selection of drinks since it's often difficult to find the soju brand you want at a market. The service is great too. Joe, one with glasses and is always here, takes good care of us every time I'm here with my family, including my toddler! My brother and SIL had heard good things about Hanshin Pocha from their friends so we came here to try it out at 7:30 on a Saturday night. There were only a few customers at this time. We dug the cool Korean Pocha street food vibe decor inside. At first glance, the menu had quite a few items blacked out - it wasn't explained if they just ran out of the ingredients for those items the night or if they just didn't offer those dishes anymore. For drinks, we got the terra tower which already has the 1 bottle of soju mixed into the 3 beers. We wanted to try the whole watermelon soju but were told that it was only offered seasonally and while it does say seasonal on the menu, we felt like it should have been a little more clear for customers about when the timeframe for "seasonal" actually is. As a replacement, we wanted to get the honey butter almond makgeoli but was told that also wasn't available (like c'mon..) but they do have a chestnut makgeoli which tasted a little bit like carbonated coffee. The food was good, we got a little bit of everything to eat family style - fried dumplings, bulgogi, seafood pancake (wish it was a little crispier but they do give you a good amount of seafood), beef short rib, spicy sausage and vegetables stew (this was a LOT smaller than we thought it would be), kimchi fried rice, large wings (half soy garlic & half sweet and spicy; only complaint was it came out slightly cold). At the end, we were given a free chestnut makgeoli by our waitress which was a nice gesture. She was patient with us and provided great service but she did wear reaaally long sleeves that would sometimes slip into our food on the table when she was dropping off new dishes. read more

This pocha just opened up recently on the new side of the Katy Asian Town Plaza. My friend and I did family style and split the large garlic soy chicken wings, rose tteokbokki (rice cake), and the marinated beef bulgogi. The rose tteok was super creamy and delicious. It was not too spicy, so I would recommend this over the traditional tteok as people with lower spice tolerances can still enjoy it. There are a lot of sides included like sausage, noodles, fish cake, and lettuce. I just wish there was more tteok though. The chicken wings were really flavorful and crunchy and came with a side of corn, lettuce, and pickled radish. The beef bulgogi also had amazing flavors as well and I liked how there was japchae added. Overall, the service was amazing. The servers came almost immediately after we rang the bell and answered all our questions thoroughly. They also provided us with sides of rice without charge, which I appreciated. There was a decent amount of seating with six seats per table so I'm not sure how larger parties than six can be accommodated; however, it was a great place to eat at with K-Pop playing and music videos on the TVs throughout. The 2 flavors were not very distinct either, both were pretty sweet, and the one that was supposed to be spicy was not at all. I would have liked it if the rice balls just had some more flavor - they were good but I think they could be better. Decided to try this place after the first place we went to had a long wait and the second one was closed. And it was good! Not crowded (in a good way) and the server was very attentive and courteous. The on-the-spot rose tteok bokki was a first time experience for us - they have you cook it to your own preferred level of tenderness. Seafood and egg soup was good, kind of like egg drop soup but with hearty pieces of oyster and octopus. K-pop playing but not too loud. Good place! read more
