Tony lied to me over phone twice and hung up. Never been treated so badly!!!! I just called happy eyes to see if they had a PD measurment on file for a friend. They answered the phone and when I asked if they could look up a measurment for me the gentelman said "we don't have measurments on file!" I asked how he would know without knowing the name or looking because in order to make lenses for my friend he would have had to have the measurments and I hadn't even given his name yet?" His response is because "we are closed... you will have to call back on Monday" and he hung up. I called back because I looked on their website and saw I called during buisness hours. When he answered not five minutes later I just asked what their buisness hours were and he told me they were open 10:00 - 5:00 (i called at 11:00am). Then I asked him why he lied to me 5 mins ago and he denied ever talking to me. Both times he answered the phone he confirmed I was calling "Happy Eyes"!!! I have never been straight up lied to like that before!!!! maybe he had a bad day?? really surprised at my experiane given what my friend has always said about them and looking at the other reviews. Makes me wonder? But I would never trust my eye glasses and Rx with anyone who is ever cabable of lying like that. read more

This review is long overdue. I came here last month to fill a prescription for glasses. I bought the cutest Ray Bans!! However, there was an issue with my insurance. Initially I had been quoted at $100 for everything by Tony's wife. But once I called to inquire on the pick up date for the completed glasses I was informed by Tony that it would be $150. Of course I was not please by this turn of events. However, Tony stated that he would give me a discount and I would only pay $125. I agreed and went to pick them up eventhough I was not happy that they were going to cost more than what I was initially quoted. When I went to go pick them up Tony apologized for the price discrepancy. He stated that he would give them to me for the initial quote of $100 since that's what was quoted. I thought this was really fair and honest of him. The glasses are perfect. He did a great job! No problem with them whatsoever. I would recommend this place. It is small and family owned and operated so you get that one on one service that we all want. Tony's wife was very honest and helpful as I was trying on different pairs. I really appreciated that! This place is wonderful. The store owner is a professional family guy. He tells customers how-it-is and doesn't pressure you to buy stuff. I came here because I misplaced my old pair of glasses. I found one similar to the old ones. The prices of the frames were a bit pricey, and I'm pretty sure you can find cheaper frames at Costco, or if you shop around some more. The prices of the lens prescriptions and the "add ons" were fair. THE BEST PART ABOUT THIS PLACE IS THAT... YOU GET YOUR GLASSES QUICKLY. Costco takes at least 7 - 10 BUSINESS days then you get your glasses. I literally got my new pair within 2.5 days of ordering 'em. I really really wanted to like them. I dropped off some frames because Tony was out sick. I called back today and she said he still wasn't in yet. She called me back 10 minutes later and told me that they were trifocal progressives. I told her they were not and she continued to argue with me about it. I finally told her I didn't want to argue about my RX and I would just go back the place I usually get them from. I am no eye doctor but I can read a RX. It states progressive with only TWO distances. I wear them only at work, one distance to see the computer and the other to read what I am writing on my desk. I go through 4-6 pair a year (I lose them a lot) so I don't want to pay a lot. I have been ordering my lenses on line for the last couple of years for $99 for polycarb progressives. They quoted me $155. If you only have single vision they would probably be great. Wish they were... it would be so nice to have someone local. If you do decide to pay them a visit... talk to Tony not the wife... I gave them 2 stars because I know people who LOVE them and have had great service with Tony which is why I went in the first place. :-/ read more

This is the place to go to if you need a good deal on lenses. I called around some places and found out quick that I could get lenses with anti-reflective coating and scratch protection here for the same price most places charge for just lenses. Service is pretty quick and they even replaced my lenses for free when they got scatched up a week later. Really nice! I highly recommend this place. Of note, they validate parking in the nearby parking structure. So don't waste time looking for a meter just park there and bring them your ticket. read more

As good as it gets!! I got exactly what I needed even tough I am a first timer (optical eyewear wise). Super friendly owners (Sally and Toni) and very patient with me - I needed over an hour to decide what I want. Never did Sally push me towards the more expensive brands, and the lenses were done next day-fast for no additional charges. Now that I have been using the glasses for about 2 months, I can truly say, that "Happy Eyes Optical" really deserve 5+ stars. I landed here on the recommendation of Old Focals and a friend who had lenses installed here. I was told at Old Focals that they didn't charge a fee for taking in outside frames---big plus already. The price was pretty reasonable and the turnaround of a week was good considering that I needed to get special order lenses. What made me love this place was the help they provided when my optometrist provided me with an incorrect prescription. I wore the spectacles a couple of days but had difficulty adjusting. When I asked Tony to check out my current set of glasses, he confirmed by suspicions that the optometrist had given me the wrong prescription. I asked him to just match the prescription to my old set even though he suggested I go and get my eyes rechecked. I don't have very much time on my hands to get to Glendale on a regular basis since I live in Van Nuys and most of my business is done in East Hollywood or the West Side, therefore I was delighted when he agreed to match the old prescription. He just asked that I paid a small fee of $20 since it was a special order. Oh, I was relieved. When I received my glasses they were perfect!!! read more

FAST, EFFICIENT AND GREAT DEAL! Saving you a long story, I was in dire need of new lenses. I was ready to go to Lenscrafters and dish out the dollars. Luckily I thought of checking YELP first! I was in and out of Happy Eyes in about 10 minutes. Tony said they would be ready in 48 hours and they were! My own frames, single vision and it was only $45! Costco price was $91 and Lenscrafter's quoted "about $200" by phone. Friendly, fast, no hard sales, just asked what I wanted, made a couple suggestions and took the order. Wah-zoom! Based on Yelp.com ratings, I took my broken glasses to Happy Eyes for repair. I told Sally I needed an economical fix 'cuz I'm unemployed and have no insurance. As she was referring me to a nearby repair shop, Tony called from the back to say that he'd fix them there for $15-$20. He called two days later and said the hinge was broken not just the arm but he had a pair of frames that fit my lenses and, if I didn't mind gun metal color (my old ones were bronze), i could have them for $20! hellyeah! Online, these frames retail for $45-$75. When I picked them up, Tony told me this was a one-time deal BUT - this was the time I needed the kindness! The frames fit and I can see again!! I've taken in 4 pairs of vintage frames to have the lenses made for them and I trust they do a good job with reasonable prices (I have a high prescription: think coke bottle if it weren't for high index) with fairly quick pick up times EXCEPT for the last pair which is taking a week (or more) to do. That's why it's -1 star. Otherwise, Tony is polite and stand by the shop's work. When I picked up a pair and I saw a flaw in one lens, Tony had another one made quickly. This is my go-to shop to get lenses made for my vintage frames!! Also, location is very easy to get to and there's free 90 minutes parking 2 blocks away from the store. read more

So thankful to have discovered Happy Eyes. I've been wearing glasses since 6th grade, so I've had several pairs made over the years. Tony is the best optician I've ever run across. When I was having trouble on the computer with my fancy high index progressives (that he made, beautifully, and for half the price of Lenscrafters), it was Tony (not my optometrist) who suggested getting single vision cheapo plastic lenses for computer use only. I've been going to Tony for more than 3 years now, and 3 pairs of glasses later, Happy Eyes is still the best optical dispensary I know of. He got me BOTH a pair of Prada eye glasses AND a backup pair of glasses about $100 cheaper than what nearby optical shops would charge for the same Prada frames/lenses by itself. I'm so happy with my progressive lenses!.... Initially I had purchased frames and lenses with Warby Parker, but the quality of the progressive lenses just weren't there. Not even after the breaking in period. They were useless to me, and had to return. Then I discovered Happy Eyes and brought in my own frames and had progressive lenses put in hoping that they could help me get past my bad experience. I wear contacts and needed readers, but I also needed to be able to look up and see clear ahead without the magnification, especially since I work close with employees and clients. After consulting with Tony, he assured me that his lenses were going to be much better. He even offered my an alternative solution if they didn't work out. Which made me feel even better about my purchase. A win - win situation for me. A week later, the lenses were ready. I picked them up and right away I could tell the difference just in clarity and coverage. After just half a day, I can already tell what a difference experience I'm having with them!! I'm so happy because I can tell, the more I wear them in, the better my eyes will settle in and adjust to the progressive lens, and I'll be able to see clearly without having to constantly put on and off my glasses through the day. Check their website out for deals. Until I discovered this shop, i was going to Wall Mart or Four Eyes, and though I got cheap glasses, in both cases I broke the frames in a few months. The pair I bought at Happy Eyes are really sturdy. I have really thick lenses, but their deal allowed me to get thinner lenses in a fashionable frame. More than any other business of any kind in the L.A., I find myself recommending Happy Eyes. I bought a set of frames here several years ago, with their help (and the woman who helped me was all business about what looked good and what didn't, which was very helpful) - the least expensive frames I've ever purchased. No one tried to upsell me. And I'm complimented on the frames at least several times a month. I was happy enough with Happy Eyes. And then the frames chipped after years of wear, forcing me to wear black frames an ex-boyfriend talked me into buying, which biased me. Anyway, I took the frames in at the end of a Friday and saw Tony. He sold me the same frames at a discount (after I told him I'd once walked out of a date when the guy said several times that he didn't like my frames; I love these frames), and he popped the lenses in and fit them to my liking. I've bought 2 pair of glasses here and had a great experience both times. I tried to buy glasses online during COVID and couldn't wear them. Once you go to Happy Eyes, you understand why it's a mistake for some of us to get glasses online. I have an angular larger face and Tony first asked what style and color I was looking for and then made some suggestions. I tried on about 15 different pair and even if I thought I had found one, he was able to tell me, honestly, that they didn't sit correctly on the bridge of my nose. Also, he cleaned off the pairs I didn't choose before putting them back in the wall. Then, he has you put them on and he measures where your pupil is within the lens and marks it so that he can craft the lens perfectly for you vision. THIS is why the online glasses were a dizzying disaster for me. Anyway, there's a large selection and they have one whole section of frames that were only 79 bucks.
