Its a small farm with limited parking space, so may be a bit of a wait getting in and out. We arrive on a Saturday around 1pmish, and notice a few cars leaving as we arrived, so had no issues finding a parking spot. Spoke to one of the owners and she said they have been selling Christmas trees for years. Looks like its locally owned and run by a husband and wife team. It's not as big as the Alpine Christmas farm, so you won't find a lot of assortment in regards to trees types or sizes. The further up the lot you go, the more you will find. If you are looking for that 8ft noble tree, this won't be the place for you. If you are looking for trees with character that gives you that feeling of being in the woods, this is your tree farm. It's a small tree farm, but everyone had masks on and were able to be socially distant. The owners are really nice and friendly. The lady that took our tree order was serving hot chocolate and homemade cookies for a treat.. Make sure you make your way to the cut out tree stump for a photo opt. The pricing is based on height of the tree you cut (ie up to 6ft trees are $35+ tax.) They have supplies including a measuring stick, saw, and a knee board; no need to bring tools to cut down your tree. We got a nice 6ft one today and may have found a U-Cut farm close to our home for future Christmas.

And yes, they provide nicely sharpened saws and kneeling boards. They don't seem to have extra measuring sticks, but we had our tape measure with us in case we ended up going into the forest. Moments later, we found and handed her a $5... she took it and did not hand over the original $10, I said "oh we're just giving you exact change now" .. she then asked two more times if we wanted a candy cane.... We both said "no" and she said "okay" and walked off with our money...!?! I don't know about the average person, but this was awkward and not worth arguing with a potentially unstable person over $10. Very strange interaction that I would avoid. Wouldn't recommend.

I was blown away by the beautiful trees which were priced so reasonably! And since you actually cut it down yourself you get a good look at it and It is VERY fresh! Should last through Christmas, even getting it so early in the season, with adequate watering. I didn't go into the shop as my son did that, but he said they were very nice and it didn't take him long to do the transaction. He did not, however, get one for himself because he wanted a larger tree than could be found on this acreage. Mine was perfect for me at about 6 feet tall. There were not a lot much taller than that. But my tree looks amazing, I am so pleased!

We got a bag of donuts and ended up being 40 cents short since they don't take cards, and the extremely friendly women gave us them anyways. The woman that was working there (not sure if she's the owner) was pleasant. We purchased a glass turtle (because we collect them on our adventures) and brought it home to add to our table of turtles. I can't wait to go back up that way and get another piece of art to add to our home. They had a glass kayak that we both fell in love with, and so many other items. Twenty years (or is it more) old, they are a bunch of woodworkers which means they are very tall on amazing work and skimpy on marketing and sales which explains why Artwood is still unknown to most everyone outside of Bellingham and even many who live here. The work seems expensive? Sure, but the people making it and the gallery are not getting rich. One of a kind furniture/woodwork is time intensive, and this country is not a low wage mecca like southeast Asia. Or even mass produced in North America. On other words the value is there, its not blue sky, the question is are you willing or able to pay for it. Erica and crew at the gallery are not woodworkers, but family of woodworkers, so you get good info and a good feeling and things are clean and well organized and displayed. unlike many stores (full disclosure, I am a lifetime career woodworker) their focus is not just about how much they can sell and how long they can withhold payment. Their focus is on making the operation keep going so the woodworkers can make more great stuff. Don't think the items in the gallery were made in the back room at Artwood, or made by the people working at the gallery. The woodworkers are full time people with families and shops and woodworking tools and machinery, and a life staked on it all. My point is admire the design and craftmanship, its amazing. Don't dismiss it as "so expensive" or being unrealistic. Thats unrealistic.....
