What a fantastic service Theresa offers! I attended another Naval wetting-down event and saw her staff in action: Always a smile, always checking to make sure everyone was well provided for. Booking, coordination, and payment were so easy! (Even for someone like me who hardly drinks and has no idea what to serve!) She was even able to book us the same staff member from the prior event. It turns out the staff member we wanted was sick, so Theresa swept in for the rescue! I'm sure it's not what she had planned for that Saturday; I am so grateful for folks who handle a problem without grumpiness or pity-seeking. Theresa came in with such a great attitude, set up easily in our limited space, and got to WORK! Our guests were so well provided for, she was immaculate in cleaning as she went, and our guests had a great time. This review is long overdue. I hired Theresa last September for my birthday. She was great and I'll probably hire her again for two big events that I have planned in 2020. However, there were still some areas of improvement that could've made my experience with her even better. Pros: -She's very affordable--probably the best deal you'll find in San Diego. I did a lot of research before hiring her so you can stop looking now because she's the best deal you're going to get. -She makes delicious drinks. Her serrano pepper margaritas are amazing! -She's also an artist. She can make a super cute sign for the drink menu. Cons: -I had to email her a few times to get a shopping list. She gave me one to begin with but it didn't say how much to buy of each thing. I asked for a recommendation and instead got a response asking for the rest of the payment. I found that annoying but I eventually got a detailed shopping list and everything turned out fine. read more

They go above and beyond their duties every single time. Theresa was absolutely amazing!! We had a wedding with about 120 people and everyone kept saying how good the bartenders were. Because we had 120 guests she had her other bartender, Jason, help her and was equally amazing! Theresa was very professional, well organized and treated our guests like family. We served keg beer, wine and 2 signature cocktails (Moscow mules and old fashions). The most impressive part about our whole experience was Theresa's attention to detail. She thought of things I never would have dreamed of. She offered to freeze large ice cubes for the old fashions, had candied ginger for the Moscow mules and best of all she actually knew how to make good drinks!!! Oh and did I mention that she is also an artist?!? She made us bar menus that had all of our drinks in gorgeous designs on chalkboards. Never book Theresa and her services; she's my only vendor that I regret booking on my wedding day. Her prices are too good to be true so save yourself the trouble and hire professional bartenders or a bartending company. She made false promises that she did not keep and attempted to scam more money out of us for her services. She is only used to doing small parties under 100 in residential areas. We had to provide her trash cans at our wedding that ended up getting lost at the end of the night. She decided to have a wine bar during cocktail hour when we planned and discussed having a full bar and was slow at serving our guests. I'm completely dissatisfied with her professionalism. On top of everything she charged us three times for the minuscule fraction of money we owe her when she said it was going to be waived. I don't what kind of company goes back on their word like that, but then again she cannot be considered a legitimate company. read more

Do yourself a favor and find a different vendor, the only good thing about happy hopping were their hired servers(they were professional and great during the wedding) as for the owner/bartender, it's a whole different story. If you think I'm being too harsh, please read on to see my point. I contacted Theresa (the owner/bartender) months before my wedding because of their reasonable pricing that she estimated for me. In order to reserve the date I had to pay half of the price in advance (which by the way is non-refundable). Then my (now) husband and I met up with her to go over the details and when we started going over the drink menu and what service we wanted to get done, she slowly but surely increased the price (almost triple what she originally estimated for us) and when we told her we were clearly on a budget and that we were gonna provide the drinks, etc. because she was charging ($90 for the ice alone, which only ended up costing us $30 to buy it ourselves), she kept adding on the pricing for the servers and herself stating that she needed to be there 3 hours early (instead of 2 hours originally) so she can "prep" everything. We had a few emails back and forth before the actual wedding day and I found her emails VERY unprofessional. For example, she kept calling me a different client name, and I CONSTANTLY had to remind her who we were and what we had talked about prior, because she kept giving me elevated prices on the service she was providing. The day of the wedding finally arrived and towards the end of the night she told my bridesmaid to tell me (during the night of my wedding) that I still owed her money for the servers, so I came up to her to tell her that I paid for everything the day of before (which I did, it was in the email and everything) and she said "gratuity isn't included"---which she could've told me in advance so I could've either paid for it or prepared for, because that was something I wasn't expecting to have to deal with on the night of my wedding!!!! Anyways, so we pay her...thinking I was FINALLY done with her BS. She emails me with a different clientele name again two days later saying we still owed her money!!!! So I emailed her back saying she has the wrong email because we are all paid for but she insisted that I was wrong, so I pulled up all our emails and receipt through PayPal, of course I was right. She didn't even apologize or anything. Then, I get another email from her a couple days later with a different clientele name(I don't understand how she can't keep up with her clients and email?---at this point, I stopped responding) So please, save yourself the headache! She is super nice thru email IN THE BEGINNING until she has part of your money that is non-refundable. She is extremely unprofessional and rude! read more

The following review was written BEFORE I found out that Theresa knew nothing of Jason's unethical behavior towards her and her company. I would delete it, since she has made amends to me, but yelp won't allow it. Please read my review with that knowledge, and read her response below. I was so excited to have Jason come to my small house party (27 people) so that I could actually sit down and enjoy my guests, but to my dismay, he didn't show up and instead sent a young man that claimed to have 6 months of experience but actually had ALMOST NONE, based on his performance. I had to spend most of the party behind the bar helping him, he was sooo slow and inept and clueless about making drinks. Some people gave up trying to get their drink made right or made at all and just drank water. REAL FUN PARTY! I could go on about the guy, but it wasn't his fault, I blame the owner of the company. If Jason wasn't coming, she should have come. If she didn't know he wasn't coming, SHAME ON HER and this was the biggest fiasco ever. We relied on her advice for the delivery of kegs and the required items to go with serving. We were very happy with the outcome. I used Happy Hopping Bartending for a small birthday party at my house for about 20 people. Theresa was great. She helped me plan the event and advised how much to purchase of everything. She came early to set up and was very personable with all of the guests. She made the party a huge success and the price was very reasonable. We were fortunate enough to have Happy Hopping Bartending help us with a charity event this past weekend we hosted at our home. Our bartender, Jon, was FABULOUS! He was prompt, efficient, a pleasure to work with, and was so incredibly helpful throughout the evening, especially as the night was coming to a close. Jon took it upon himself to assist in the clean up which undoubtedly saved us lots of time once the event was over. Theresa (HHB's owner) was so easy to work with and was very responsive with questions and making arrangements for the night of our event. Theresa was a pleasure to work with and truly impressed me at our wedding reception. I had some very heavy drinkers at the event, and she kept them busy and kept the lines short. She and the other bartender working with her were amiable and easy to talk to. She has a clear passion for her work and for ensuring that everyone around her is smiling and relaxed. Several months before the wedding, Theresa proved to be very responsive to my questions, and she helped me to develop a thorough estimate of all alcohol and mixers for the event. When we ran short of some drinks, she sent her other bartender on a store run to re-stock, and she only charged for the purchase itself (no fee for the travel). If I could give Theresa 4.5 stars I would. The reason I rounded down to 4 was because her initial quotes were somewhat confusing and not clear on whether she included certain items or charged separately for them. There were a few instances where she changed her mind on certain quantities or durations that impacted the total price. For instance, about a month before the event she suggested that she come an hour earlier than her original arrival time (and naturally charged for that hour), even though nothing else had really changed that would drive that need. When we decided to increase the alcohol quantities, she went through multiple iterations of increasing the ice. The cost of this increase wasn't a big deal, but she changed the suggested quantity multiple times, and it made it difficult to keep up with the latest numbers. These were all very minor, however, and I would hire Theresa again in a heartbeat. read more
