I tried this for the first time and was surprisingly happy with it. I like that they have small and large for their fried rice, lo mein and other dishes. I got the small combo lo mein. I tried the cheese wontons and an eggroll. All of these were really good the fry the rice did not look like much and they gave it to me in a cute little container, which I did not know came with my lo mein, but it was a nice bonus. The lo mein had a really good flavor, and the eggroll was good as well. The cheese wontons were definitely more than enough to share and I got a couple portions out of them. It was very affordably priced and for a hole in the wall that did not look like much. I was very glad to be surprised at how good the food was and I will be back. Solid take out spot in BA!! Where they have a dining room, as of January 2022 it was blocked off and they serving in carry-out only. While still in the midst of a pandemic it's really not a surprise. You can order ahead or walk inside and place a to go order. The man who helped me the day I went in was very friendly. Always a plus. I got a meal for 2 as that's an option on the menu and waiting around 15 minutes for it be ready. Not a big deal at all right? NOPE! We were handed fresh and yummy food and was more than enough for just me and the wifey. We really enjoyed our General Tso's chicken with fried rice, egg drop soup and a couple egg rolls. I order take out. This restaurant staples your bag closed so you cannot check if your order is correct. When I got home I found they had my order incorrect. I called the restaurant and they said they would make it good and replace the item not in the bag. When I arrived they had my food ready to go. I asked since it had been almost a hour since I had picked my order. Could they please remake my main dish. The manager told me he would if I would bring back the main dish from my home. Crazy! I have been a customer for over 10 years and I had decided to give them a second chance for my business. I stopped going to this restaurant before because the rice and food tasted old. Like it had been frozen and reheated. After the managers remarks to me to bring back my food makes me know I should have never given them a seconded chance. Dine at your own risk! The food from here that my wife and I got was absolutely amazing. The fried rice had wonderful flavor, the orange chicken had a good spice to it but nothing overbearing, and the fried dumplings were very very good. For this quaint Chinese restaurant, the ambiance and service were two things we didn't really experience so I can only provide an opinion based on what I observed briefly because we got takeout: it was easy to obtain our food and the place is a very simply laid out. Isn't somewhere I'd dine at, but truthfully I'm never really dining at a Chinese restaurant so yeah. The place is basically 5 stars, but due to its lack of very inviting interior for the option to "comfortably" dine in, I give it a very solid 4/5 stars. read more

Got there when my order was supposed to be ready. They read me my order and confirmed it wasn't ready. After waiting another half hour in the empty restaurant I asked what the problem was and they handed me my order that was sitting there the entire time. They felt no need to check again or ask as I sat there. I understand people make mistakes, but to not even think to check the bag sitting there again, ask me any questions, or try and solve the problem is just terrible customer service. I picked Happy House because they got a 4.8/5.0 rating on Door Dash. I did not use Door Dash, I drove over, ordered, and took it with me. The restaurant is definitely a takeout spot. The tables have magazines on them like when you wait at the dentist. The traffic through the place was nonstop. Since this was my first time going, this was a very reassuring sign I would be getting a tasty treat. The service was quick, despite the constant flow of people and ringing of the telephone. The lady working was friendly and she took care of me without issue. I ordered Kung Pao chicken and two egg rolls. The kitchen area in the back, which you can see through the giant window looked clean and the guys were hustling. It took about 10 minutes to get my food, which I didn't think was bad. I drove home and then ate. I got home about 10 minutes later and the food was still steamy hot. The food itself was just ok. There was nothing exceptional about it, I've eaten quite a bit of Chinese from places near and far and I would say it is middle of the road for Happy House. The egg rolls were typical frozen in a box and fried, not made in-house, and nothing special. The Kung Pao had no "spicy" to it and really lacked any sort of flavor or taste, well wait that isn't entirely true, it had sort of a fish taste to it, which I thought was sort of weird, but didn't let stop me. What wasn't good was the chicken in the King Pao. It was slightly undercooked, spongy, and soft. Definitely where I drew the line. I ate some and saved some for later, maybe the next morning it will be tastier. It had lots of carrots, celery, peanuts, and peppers in it as well. All in all I give it a solid C+/B-. Probably wouldn't go back again as places like this are a dime a dozen and I can keep searching. I don't think you would be disappointed in going there, I just know there is better out there. Happy house is a great and fast way to have food. There are many choices on the menu. Bourbon chicken is definitely a favorite of mine, even though I love just about anything there, it hits the spot. They have lots of good appetizers to try, the FRENCH FRIES are amazing( even though they were very salty last time, still very very good ). They may speak alittle fast but I feel like they have too because how quick they are to take and make the orders for you. Don't be afraid to try different things, definitely a cool experience trying something new I never had before. If you live in BA and don't get your Chinese food from Happy then you're missing out! Love the fact it has a huge window into the kitchen where you can see how clean the workers and your food is. I'm guessing it's family owned like most ethnic restaurants and helps break the cycle of the same old chain restaurants like Panda Express and Egg Roll. Food is delicious and hot although sometimes I have to ask for my fried dishes (such as general Tsao's ) to be cooked "well done." Veggies are always bright, colorful, fresh and crispy. The only funny thing I noticed is there's an old closed down animal hospital next door haha! But hey it makes for a good laugh when you pull up ;) Try Happy House out! I have read other people's reviews and seen the complaints about the rude lady. I like to think it's her accent that makes her seem short and blunted in response. The food is flavorful, not too salty and the veggies still have a good crunch. The sauces aren't too thick and the rice is fragrant and cooked perfectly. I ordered the Chicken Chow Mein and there was so much water and veggies and very little chicken and what was there was absolutely flavorless. I have had different types of Chicken Chow Mein so I know not everybody makes it " American" style with the thick sauce but this I have to say was so bad- I dumped it out. Sorry Happy House- It pains me to say something bad about the food but after 10 years of buying there- I finally hit a "clinker" on the menu.
