Animal Kingdom is probably the best food park. It's hard to pick a place to eat sometimes, which is why I didn't emphasize Harambe Market much. Went here years ago, and would classify as 'just ok'. Low and behold, last Animal Kingdom trip the whole squad plopped down here before I could blink. So I gave it another shot. Definitely can't overlook the decor, which is pretty stellar in my book if nothing else. Menu is very different from when I tried years ago too. Got the Leopard's Eye cocktail for a drink. It wasn't terrible but definitely too fruity (and overpriced) as I expected it to be. Got the shrimp rice bowl for food. All things considered this wasn't too bad. Shrimp were on the small side however they were well spiced and didn't taste like plastic, which is good for Disney. Came with a crapton of rice too. Tzatziki is NOT African however it fit well here, and the tomato salad was fine. By Disney standards, this was a good lunch. Still not my favorite Animal Kingdom counter service option, however you can do worse than this. Really showcases why Animal Kingdom is Disney's best food part on average. read more

Way Impressed Rain, and the threat of rain, were issues at Disney's Animal Kingdom yesterday. Harambe Market is an outdoor eatery, in that you order and pick up your food through windows and they only have outdoor, but mostly covered, seating. It looked full, but my wife is incredibly adept at finding tables. She did her thing while the rest of us got the food. She and I both got their Harambe Salad with Chicken, and both of us were way impressed. These were good sized salads with quite a bit of tasty chicken. As stated on their menu, the salads are Mediterranean influenced, so think olives, Feta cheese, Greek dressing, etc. Sure, we were eating with plastic forks on a damp table, using disposable bowls, but that was ok. I was hungry and this wonderfully corrected that condition. Two things to note, the salad is assembled, not tossed, so ingredients tended to be in one spot in the bowl rather than equally spread out. The other is Harambe Market closes at 3:15. In my humble opinion, that is way too early. I didn't ask why. Hope it is due to a temporary issue. read more

The food here was insanely good for the price and convenience! You can mobile order from Harambe Market ahead of time and the app will tell you exactly which window to pick up your order at. There is only outdoor seating here. Some of it is covered by umbrellas and shades by trees. They have a mix of picnic benches and tables. Another fun bonus that we benefited from was that there was a cast member walking around the market playing the Kora Tinga Tinga, which is a strong instrument. I believe that there was a mic and speaker hooked up to this too because you could hear it all throughout. As for the food, I highly recommend the ribs. This place is pretty neat! It felt like I had stepped into a different country, which was a lot of fun. There was sufficient seating that we didn't feel the need to save a seat. As soon as I was done ordering I found a spot. There are a lot of long tables so I ended up sitting next to a small family but there was enough room that it didn't feel like I was invading their space so much as eating near them. The one downside to this place is if you end up ordering a lot of food you have to make two trips. But also there isn't a lot of space to store the trays so it could back things up a bit. I ended up helping a woman so she wouldn't try and carry two trays by herself. The food itself was good but I always hate when I find chewy bits in my chicken. So while it was good, I'd rather stick with breast or parts that aren't going to have fat or other strange parts. I'd try something else here if there was something else that appealed to me. After a whole week of Disney fast food, I was really excited to eat here as I heard they had healthier options. I wasn't that thrilled to be honest. The so-called fruit market only had red and green apples and then mostly chips. The corn on the cob was great; however, the red spice was a bit too spicy for me. We are fans of Disney so that means lots of trips to the parks. We can sometimes be creatures of habit and eat at the same places, but we decided to be daring and try some new food on this trip. Harambe Market was one of the new places for us to try. My daughter is mostly a vegetarian but will occasionally eat seafood. I eat nearly everything, so I'm pretty easy to please. The verdict. 1 point Zoe, zero mom. Zoe's curry was so flavorful that I had food envy. The ribs were bland and I had food regret from the moment I saw them in the little paper container. Good quick service option in Animal Kingdom. My family and I were tired of French fries in the parks and were looking for better alternatives. We have been to HM multiple times in the past and knew the food was good. The atmosphere at HM is that of an outdoor African market with two order windows that serve the same food and drink. It is nice to relax at a table at HM and feel that you are away from the crowds. My wife ordered a chicken bowl. My daughter had the curry sausage. I opted for the rib bowl. My wife and daughter enjoyed their meals. I liked the ribs, they had a dry rub that was quite good. Not spicy and cooked just right. Rice came with the meats. HM also serves beer. Expect to spend $12-15 per dish. The food is good, but at the end of the day this is glorified park food with paper bowls and plastic utensils. Satu'li Canteen in Animal Kingdom is a close competitor and better overall experience. The line was a bit slow, but the food was ready not too long after ordering. We wanted a quick bite to eat before the lion king show. So, we stopped by Harambe market. There were 3 stalls to order from, but all of them had the same menu items. We ordered the beef and lamb gyro flatbread and the tikka masala chicken. The gyro was good. The bread very soft and fluffy, and the meat had a nice chargrilled flavor to it. I have had better gyros, though. The tikka chicken was underwhelming at best. It tasted more like just a tomato stew than a curry. I wouldn't recommend that you order this. The corn salsa side was just ok. It was slightly refreshing. But, the coleslaw was just awful. It had no flavor and was just off putting. I still liked the atmosphere, though. It felt like an open air market. A man at the front of the entrance was singing upbeat African music to keep the mood of the market fun and relaxed. I liked this quick service option in the Animal Kingdom. I've stopped here once before, but didn't have a chance to write my review until now. The husbeast had seen the offering of Ribs and that's what he was craving. I knew that they offered chicken skewers so I was good for that, however we both ended up with something different. I ended up with the ribs, they were a bit spicy, but dang, that sauce was AMAZING! And the black eyed pea/corn salad was so tasty. I had no idea what it would taste like, all I knew was that it would be different. Now I crave more of it. The husbeast ended up with some kind of corndog/sausage hybrid but he thought it was delicious too! It's a trick! The Harambe market makes it look like there are multiple booths and stands, but it's really 2 food places, serving the same things (chicken curry, corn dogs, ribs). My husband and I got the curry and the corn dogs to share, and I would say that they were not terrible. What stood out though, was the watermelon lemonade. So refreshing! I wish there were more places to sit though, as it got super crowded and we pretty much had to fight for a seat. Way to hot to be at Animal Kingdom Park but that's on me. I had just had delicious pulled pork fries over at Flame Tree BBQ and that was outstanding even in the heat. I had read about the -Curry Corn Batter sausage, it sounded so unique so I saved stomach room to pick this up on my way out of Park. Their are numerous lines with only 3-4 people ahead of me. We stood there in the sun for over 15 min waiting for a family of 3 to order individually. This was not handled well. I lost my temper while waiting and almost left. Wish I had. Once I got to order $16 for a sausage and a soda? Ridiculous. It was accompanied with some corn succotash side that was mushy and tasteless. The Curry flavor was nonexistent and batter was so dry as well as the bland sausage. It was made well for walking but that's it. I think I have found my new quick service in Animal Kingdom. This section is an Outdoor Food Court with a quaint courtyard with eclectic seating of mismatched chairs that continues that feel of being in an African Village. Their are "4" different dining shops here and the reason I say it in quotes is because realistically 3 of the 4 carry all of the same menu. When they originally opened they were all separate menus. When we went the rib shop was not open. Most guests do not realize you can order everything at any shop so it's kind of a cool secret... for now. I ordered the Beef Gyro and it came with a delicious Black eyed pea succotash and carrot slaw and an African Milk Mart. Right off the Beef Gyro was big enough to share. I highly recommend putting the slaw on the gyro, it adds an extra flavor bomb. The succotash was incredible and honestly my first time having black eyed peas and not my last. The best part of the meal was the sweet ending, the African Milk Tart. A chocolate crust filled with a coconut custard. Quite a delicacy. I will definitely be back again for all of the above! Great quick service at Animal Kingdom! Walking through the plaza, it felt like I entered a different world. There are multiple walk-up stations - the ones near the front have the same menu while the one towards the back only serves the ribs. There's also a worker that roams around with a special diet menu if you have any dietary restrictions. I was pretty sure their chicken tikka couldn't beat the bf's so we got the following instead: Grilled chicken skewer - Five chunks of chicken with perfect grill marks. Juicy and not burnt, but could've used more seasoning. Pretty much just plain pieces of chicken breast. Karubi ribs - A slab of pure meat with two tiny bones. Could've used some sauce and a starch of some kind, but the meat was tender and fell apart nicely. Most of the entrees come with a side of green papaya slaw and black-eyed pea, corn, tomato salad. Both would've been better had they had stronger flavors to help cut through the monotony of the meat. Not terrible, but I was expecting something more. Watermelon lemonade - Loved it! You get a hint of watermelon, akin to a watermelon jolly rancher, that isn't too overpowering. It's also more tart than sweet which is just how I like my lemonade. Overall, surprisingly good. You also got some slaw which was tangy and a bean corn mix that reminded me of tabbouleh. We also had the sangria which was okay and the Reef Donkey beer was a nice 20oz pour. Good value for Disney. The chicken skewers are so moist and tender and well seasoned. The corn dog (even tho they call it sausage with curried batter) was also great an didn't taste like it was store bought. It came with basmati rice, naan style bread, and a fresh and healthy black eyed pea, corn, and tomato salad. This meal was actually one of the healthiest I had in Disney World---that alone makes Harambe Market deserving of praise. My husband had the beef gyro flatbread for $10. It was also very good and came with an awesome green papaya slaw, which is well worth ordering as a side if your meal doesn't come with it.
