Also really rate this cinema as it usually has late showings on all new films, so you can avoid the queues earlier in the night (which are sometimes pretty bad!). Would also note that cinemas can get pretty chilly, so bring an extra layer!

The Odeon, like most movie cinemas, has the ability to book tickets online - no need to line up to purchase your tickets. This particular facility has been around for atleast 10 years for most cinemas so I won't be commenting further on it. The cinema is like most others, it's a multiplex with various movies showing at various times. The seating is fairly comfortable. And there is the usual concessions available - popcorn, pop, candy, chocolate, hot dogs and water. The only issue I have with the Concessions is that they are unbelievably slow. For the price we are paying I would expect that in the space of 20 minutes that the server be able to process more than two orders - but such was not the case this past weekend. The fellow was polite, I'll give him that, but unbelievably slow. Would I recommend the Odeon? It's about the only multiplex in the area showing current movies, located rather conveniently across from the West Quay Shopping Centre, an IKEA, with plenty of parking and some rather dubious dining establishments such as Frankie & Benny's.

Tickets are a bit pricey an adult for a 2D film is £6.80 and seniors only get an 80p discount. However that's the average cinema price and this is one of the nicest I've been too and the floor is carpeted. So its not sticky!!!. Same freindly staff. Biggest screen in Dorset in screen 2. Screens3 and 4 wont be too far behind. Screen 1 is the cute small screen that less popular films are screened in usually. Digital Sound and air conditioning will be coming to screen 1 soon. 3D will also be installed in screens 3 and 4, but it will be 35mm 3D to start with. Menaing the cinema will then have 3/4 3D screens. With 2 different 3D systems - Xpand Digital 3D, and a 35mm 3D system (probably Technicolour). Great cinema, great prices, great staff and massive improvements currently taking place. 4 screens and more tehnically is a multiplex, so this cinema will be a 4 screen multiplex from December 2010!!!!!!!!

The small and rather old-fashioned Westway Cinema stands in the same street as (now demolished) The Gaumont, the main cinema from the sixties era in this town. The films are usually pretty much up to the minute - even if not quite as fast as the bigger towns - well, we have a quieter pace of life around here! As for facilities, it's situated built into the Westway shopping precinct and just a few footsteps away from the central car park. There's showings every day, often twice a day, and as mentioned the titles are always popular, recently released films. Up the steep stairs (ask in advance about wheelchair access) there is a small foyer with ticket sales, sweet and soft drink sales - and a small bar. Yes, here you can sip a pint or two as you watch the action unfold on the screen. In homage to the olden days of cinema a small ice-cream kiosk opens between the adverts and the main feature for last-minute stock-up of drinks and nibbles. With concessions for children and OAPs and a perfectly pleasant and comfortable setting, this saves a small fortune (especially for families) on travelling to the more pricey cinemas in Bath. Well worth supporting your local cinema!
