Despite the late hour (well, it was only 6pm but it was early December and so the sun had already set), there was a decent crowd of families with kids here playing. It's a great spot if you're looking to tire out your little ones with some exercise. Climbing frames, a ground-level tree house, benches, and play activities. We visit Hilton Head Island every year with my family and while we are here, we always hangout in the Harbour Town Playground. My kids love the playground here because of the treehouse and the cool trees that one can hang off from. During our recent trip here a couple weeks ago, we noticed that they added some new equipment. They added a brand new swing set and a swinging tire. If you are not staying in the Sea Pines Resort, they do charge $6 to come into the area and to shop or visit the playground, so definitely make sure you plan on to sight see the whole area. Overall, this is a fun place to take the kids and it is well shaded as well. If you ride your bike here, there is plenty of places to lock of your bike, most just lock them to the fence here. As a kid of the 80s and 90s, I grew up playing on the the playground at Harbour Town with my siblings, cousins, and friends. I remember the swings, slides, monkey bars, sand, and the giant oak trees. This year, we introduced a new generation to the playground at Harbour Town: my 18-month-old niece! Even though all the other kids were bigger, she still had a blast. Technically, the playground is designed for children ages 3 to 12. The Harbour Town playground has changed considerably since the time I played on it. It's so much bigger and better. It also has an official name, the "Gregg Russell Harbour Town Playground." Anybody who grew up visiting Harbour Town knows who Gregg Russell is. He's been entertaining and singing to children at Harbour Town for over 30 years and is still going strong. The playground is located next to the main (free) parking lot at Harbour Town. It's hard to miss. It's incredibly popular and for good reason. There's a lot of fun stuff to play on and plenty of space to run around. The playground is enclosed with a short wooden fence, which is easy for adults to walk over. In addition to the adjacent parking lot, the playground also has many places to park your bike, making a bicycle trip to the Harbour Town playground a very fun and family friendly activity. My niece enjoyed playing on the swings and slides the most. There is a set of kiddie swings for small children that are enclosed on all sides so they can't fall off. She loved it. There are two slides: (1) a smaller one that swirls and (2) a bigger, straight-shot one that starts inside a treehouse. We took turns taking my niece down the slides. She smiled big and giggled with enjoyment after each trip down. She kept asking us to take her on the slide again and again. We had a great time. There is seating for adults throughout the playground. There is also a picturesque live oak tree which kids are always climbing on despite the rules of the playground stating that "climbing on tree limbs is prohibited." This, of course, is to absolve the resort of any liability in case a child were to fall off a limb and brake his/her arm. If you're in Sea Pines and have kids to entertain, I highly recommend the playground at Harbour Town. While I had tons of fun playing here as a kid, I get more enjoyment taking my niece here and seeing the joy on her face. :) read more

We really enjoyed this playground. It is right by the light house and stores to shop and walk around. We stopped my the general store across from it and bought some gelato prior to the playground and my son loved he experience. There are 4 sets of play areas plus swings and seesaws around. I know the playground says it is for 3-12 year olds, but my toddler is 2 and was able to climb on all 4 of them. It really is a good playground for all ages and a huge plus is that it is shaded! One of play area sets I think would be good for age 1 to 18 months. Another set is okay for 2 year olds. The one in the middle requires some assistance if your child is 2-3 for sure, but still fun. The wooden tree house ship area was great and safe for my two year old, who is really adventurous and active. I will definitely be coming back here the next time we come to HHI! read more

If you're in Harbour Town and have small kids, then this is a must-do. It's geared towards 3-12 year olds, but there was some smaller equipment that was appropriate for our 2 year old. If you're going to Harbour Town, then I would recommend planning a half day there to maximize the $6 entry fee. read more

While on vacay in HH, we found this gem of a park! The twins loved it! Especially the slide made out of an old tree log, the turtle & alligator statue. We will definitely visit this park again next time when we are in HH! read more

It costs 6 bucks to get into the area, but it's definitely the best play ground on the island. In the shade no less. It's fenced in, which can not be appreciated enough. And there's loads for the little ones to play with and on. read more

We stayed in Sea Pines so it was really easy to access to playground which is well equipped for a wide range of ages. Instead of fighting parking we took the trolley, which our 3 yo daughter loved. It was also nice that everyone was tourists so the kids kind of played together since they were mainly there on their own. read more

Hello my name is Elle, and I am a 10 year old who thinks there needs to be a change. The harbor town playground is great for entertainment but there is one that bothers me. There is a fake alligator that you can climb in play on. But I think that that is unacceptable because that influences kids to play with dangerous animals which could cause major harm. Overall the playground is great! If I was a parent I would definitely let my kid play on this playground. All in all they should get rid of this toy and make it something cute, cuddly and nice. read more
