The service was lovely and so was the food. They don't have their own website and there was no menu available online, but they mostly do traditional English fare. Food came out quickly and was hot - eggs cooked perfectly! All in all a nice atmosphere for a family meal and relatively inexpensive. Not your bog standard cafe with ugly plastic or metal chairs, but beautiful solid wood furniture even the drinking glasses are gorgeous! We ordered a variety of different meals there were four of us the first day. I have special dietary needs and nothing was too much trouble. The food was all home cooked to order and came out piping hot and well presented. Two of us had the roast dinner and even as a vegetarian I could see that my partner's beef was perfectly cooked. We were even offered extra vegetables and roast potatoes that doesn't happen very often!! The beef lasagne that my 12 year old step-daughter had was very well received and she commented on how fresh it was, especially compared to a lasagne she'd had a couple of days before in a cafe up the road which was dried up and flavourless in comparison. My 16 year old step son had a lovely home made beef burger which he was very impressed with. The desserts are also a big winner with a lovely selection of sponge puddings, cakes, pies and tarts all offered with clotted cream, custard or ice cream. We enjoyed our meal immensely, the staff were friendly and attentive and happy to cater for all our needs. A few days later on our last day we went back for another meal before returning to our home town of Plymouth and again we were not disappointed a couple of us chose from the '£7 for 2 courses' lunch menu and were impressed by the choices. My fussy 5 year old son joined us all this time and loved the home made Plum Tart with custard he chose for dessert. Having spent a lot of time in Cornwall over the years and having experienced a lot of pretty mediocre meals I can honestly say The Stepping Stones is excellent value for money and the standard of cooking and the quality of ingredients used is far superior to many other local restaurants. We will definitely be returning for more in the future. In fact we were so impressed we have thought about planning a day trip to Perranporth in the future just so we can visit The Stepping Stones again! To give a balanced review, I have been scratching my head, trying to think of any negatives to add but quite simply cannot think of any. I could say it's a pity the premises is not a little bigger to accommodate more diners but I guess this would make the dining experience less cosy and personal just make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment!

Very friendly staff, a nice setting with some tables outside to watch the world go by. Fair prices as well and dogfriendly. A sunny day, so we took a table outside. Ordered the classic cornish pasty with steak filling. And it was a fine pasty. But not the best we've ever had. The pasty could have been crispier, the filling a bit more spiced up. Did taste a bit bland. But recipes are different, tastes are different. It was good - but not great. Nice was the size, a really big pasty with lots of stuffing. It's really a whole meal for itself. All in all still a fine visit. The location was great, we enjoyed sitting down and to watch all the action.

Upon entering there is always a warm and friendly greeting from staff who obviously appreciate you being there. The menu boasts so many options to suit absolutely every person regardless of dietary preference. During our first visit we ordered a lovely latte and milkshake, which was undoubtedly the best we had ever tasted! From a coffee lovers point of view, it outweighed all competition tasting so fresh you'd think they grew the beans in the back garden! The milkshakes are equally as awesome and straight away you can tell its made from only the freshest of ingredients while you wait. I pretty much lived on the strawberry and mango milkshake for my weeks holiday and im definitely feeling withdrawal symptoms now im back home! We also tried several of the food options during our stay, which included some amazing bacon sarnies and what had to be the best plate of nachos we could ever dream of! Unlike many of the other cafe's and restaurants the prices are also extremely modest for what you get. This cafe's absolutely faultless, and I promise anyone visiting it will love bopping to Bob Marley while consuming some of the finest food and drink in the country! There are many delights to be found along the coast of Cornwall, but I wasn't expecting a surfer's hangout. Known for their all day breakfast, if you can find parking along the shoulder, you will walk down a path to this casual little cafe. Keep descending and you wind up on Whitsand Bay. There are a number of tables outdoors to soak in the sun and enjoy the gorgeous views. The food was fine and service was average. But, the atmosphere was everything.

Then you actually make a purchase and then try it and you're not disappointed.. I was only in Newquay for half a day and I went there three times.. and I was on a strict diet, no treats or sugary food but walking down the Newquay high street and seeing this small little shop I couldn't help myself.. it's like a little curiosity shop that you can't help but enter. Suffice to say, when I go back next year I'll be visiting this one again.
