Turns out the former owner had used silicone in an elbow joint that wasn't sloped properly, so when it didn't drain at the rate it should, it would drip. There was some confusion on the cost from what I thought it would cost vs. what was quoted. After some discussion we agreed there was a misunderstanding when I bought the gutter guards on what the cost would be if a roof needed to be installed (how often do you get a roof done?). Long story short the guards have been in place 18 months and I haven't had to clean them out once so they do an excellent job keeping leaves out of the gutters. They are making a special trip out to accommodate our roofing schedule.
