We decided we needed a break from German food for a night and decided to get some American food. We were absolutely delighted when we found a Hard Rock café in Munich. The location is right in the Marienplatz which made it so convenient for us. On the inside the atmosphere it is your typical Hard Rock Cafe with all the music memorabilia and hard rock music playing. But because this was Munich it made it just a little extra special for us. The service was fast and friendly and our food came out quickly. We love hard rock cafés, and we do try to visit them whenever we are traveling on vacation in a different state. Would highly recommend it if you need a break for a night on German food. Plus, I was able to get some hard rock Munich souvenirs from the gift shop too! read more

It's Hard Rock, so you already know what you're signing up for: Americanized menu, familiar decor, reliable food. The Munich location doesn't have the most standout interior compared to some other Hard Rocks, but the location more than makes up for it. It's right across from the Hofbräuhaus and a short walk from the Glockenspiel and Marienplatz, so it fits easily into a day of sightseeing in the old town. Hard Rock Cafe Munchen has a nice vibe, deco and ambiance. It's not surprising to see locals stop in for a quick drink or for a coffee. They have a nice store to purchase things like mugs, tshirts, and many other things and it seems to be quite popular with tourists. The location is right across from the famous and very popular beer hall called Hofbrauhaus. So, this place gets pretty busy especially during dinner time. Food and drinks are good here but the service needs some improvements. I sat at one end of the bar closest to the entrance and other customers and myself found that the bartenders tend to group up and hang out together on the opposite side of the bar and they rarely walk by to make eye contact or check in with customers to see if they need anything or an additional drink. I flagged this issue with one of the bartenders and he acknowledged this and agreed it was a problem and that they are trying to fix the way they manage the bar area. Went during Oktoberfest so all the restaurants around were busy. As we wanted something else other then German/Bavarian food we opted to go here. Plenty of seating inside, they have the gift shop that all hard rocks have, and the place was decorated for Oktoberfest. We both got burgers. I got the Oktoberfest special burger and my husband got the special burger "The massie" (sorry for my spelling). Both burgers were great and we left full. read more

The cafe shop was long and narrow, but had a nice selection. Be sure to check in, we had an offer come through for a complimentary gift. Though it might change and not be available. The wait was short and the food came out quick. The servers are quick and as primarily English speakers it is nice to know there are menus in English. Ordered the wagyu burger with a fried egg and chorizo inside and it was fabulous. The Hurricane and glass was a perfect souvenir.

First time I heard of this chain was over 30 years ago when a school friend wore one of their sweaters to school, San Diego or something similarly exotic. Over the years, I never went to one of their restaurants, the chain vibes being a turn-off to me, and yes, I didn't like Rock'n'Roll and electric guitars degraded to market burger food in such a calculated way. But being in the area, I gave them a try today. It's a busy restaurant in the middle of Munich's tourist quarter mile, opposite Hofbräuhaus. Vibes, decades later, feel nostalgic not edgy (must have felt differently to my friend back then). Friendly service, some live guitarist playing. The BBQ cheeseburger I had was actually quite tasty, even if a little overly well done. The french fries were good too. Only the coke was too stale, bottled drinks would have been more appropriate for the soft drink's price. Not cheap for chain burgers, but if you look at the desolate experience at 'Five Guys' up high street for only a little less, this is still the better deal in Munich. read more

This time around was so much better! We came with a larger group and was seated in the middle of the restaurant, instead of on the side in the back where we were extremely hot and crammed for space. I must say, hands down some of the best customer service around! This time and last time we came we were given the best experience by the wait staff!! Okay, so as far as food goes, was a little disappointed in the buffalo cauliflower, was expecting it to come out dripping in buffalo sauce, but it was fried and still had a little kick to it. However was looking past my expectations it was a good appetizer. Now let's talk about fries ... I'm soooo upset I didn't know about all of these other choices in fry selection!! Being a Yelp & Hard Rock Rewards loyalty member paid off tonight! We checked into Yelp and Hard Rock offered a free dessert (giant) with a purchase of an entree. This deal is going through March only. Also, with Hard Rock Rewards, I was able to get a free souvenir with purchase. It was a set of four buttons, a heavy duty selfie stick, and a neoprene wallet pouch. All free with a 30€ purchase from the store with Hard Rock Rewards!!! Hard Rock has always been consistent with their meals, drinks, and service. We had "Dominic" as our server tonight and he was fast and courteous. Super nice! I really enjoyed the Triple Silver Margarita. Yummmm. It was made very well. The ribs were HUGE! And I ate half and took the other half home. The Fajitas were excellent. The chicken a tad dry for the mac n'cheese. The only downfall were the bathrooms. The womens restroom smelled of man urine and had zero toilet paper. Update: we returned and earned another "Gratis" gift...this time it was just a neoprene wallet. :( We had Dominic again for our waiter and he was prompt and on top of it all. He's a really great service guy and we hope we always get him now because he's very friendly and we never had to ask for items, he always just saw what we needed and took care of it. I was shoving a huge rib in my mouth tonight and he saw my hands full and sauce everywhere and he returned with a stack of napkins. :) He also saw that our drinks were low and he took care of it without asking. Group menu is food for dogs. It was clearly a very different burger than non-group people. It was like .5 cm thick tasted like nothing and came with a half portion of fries. Absolute pathetic. I was planning on buying several gifts in the overpriced gift shop (ex. A long sleeved shirt costs 69 euros, but I'm not giving this place another cent. Large establishment, clean and jam packed with people. Expensive, but it was great to see and experience. The locals appear to love it. We did enjoy shopping and buying something in the gift shop. We have a tradition when it comes to HRC. This is my 26th HRC so far. Its situated in the old town if I am not mistaken. Vis a vis you can find somw brewhouses as well (say you are thirsty afterwards). We came a little late so we were some of the lasts diners. But food was plentiful as always. Was it that tasty? Not really. Was it as expected? Yes. You know what you are in for and I felt the standard was met. And I mean this in a good way. Tried some local beers. Fun. Tried a cocktail. Tasted like soda with water. Go for beer. All in all. Ok decor etc. Location is ok too. Service was quick and good. Our waiter told us some stories about this one time at a brewery. We went here on a Saturday night. It was not too smart not to make a reservation. We registered and got a beeper. 45 minutes later we got our table. If you've been to another Hard Rock Cafe the menu is no surprise. Still great stuff on it. We picked the starter combo and it only took 10 minutes to arrive. Wings, onion rings, potato skins, chicken fingers, spring rolls, plus dips and salad. Very nice. As entree we had a Cesar salad, the pulled pork sandwich, and the BBQ trio (ribs, pulled pork, chicken) with fries, beans, and coleslaw. The taste was great and it was a lot of food. Btw: Free refills on soft drinks! In Germany;-) The prices were OK, didn't expect anything else. It was really busy but still it didn't take long for the drinks and the food to arrive. Went on a Friday night before Oktoberfest. Hofbrauhaus was closed for the evening, so Hard Rock was a popular place. Lots of groups and party people. Friendly bartenders, and service was good. Bathrooms are downstairs. read more

We went on a Saturday night and had no problems getting a table. Of course we showed up at 500 when it was the happy hour crowd gathered around the bar. Our waiter had a great English vocabulary, whether or not he understood himself is a different story. There was an English menu which made the ordering process easier. The food was okay. It was good to have familiar food again but the quality was what we expected of a novelty chain restaurant. There were free refills YEAH....on Pepsi products BOOOOOOOO!!!!!! That was a slap with the front AND back of the hand! It was expensive but it's also expensive back in the States. By the time we left, the place was pack, especially the Rock Shop. We opted to skip buying a shirt due to the crowd. It's definitely a stop to make whether your a tourist or not. read more

When I arrived in Munich this was the only place I thought I could get a good burger. Of course, I was so wrong!!! The burgers there taste great, but there are much better and cheaper ones in Munich. Since I joined yelp my burger horizons have been exponentially expanded! :D Well, my favorite burger there is the "Hickory BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger" with delicious caramelized onions. Their cocktails are also very tasty and prepared with top shelf alcohol. My personal favorite: the "Long Island Ice Tea". However that comes not cheap as well. The deserts are to die for. I love the Fresh Apple Cobbler and the Hot Fudge Brownie. The whole staff speaks perfect English and German. Bur there is a waiter there that speaks at least five languages: German, English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. Wow that's awesome! :D Overall it will definitely not be a cheap meal, or happy hour. But once in a while it is a good choice. I never regret going there. This place will always stay in my heart, because I was a place where I could come be understood and eat good food, and be entertained. *Tip: If they offer you to seat at the bar for eating, please, do not accept it. The barmen are often too busy preparing drinks, and then it can take quite a while for them to take your order. It's better to wait for a table. Because, even when they say it is a forty minutes wait, it is usually at most 15. read more

Haters abound. We spent 63 days backpacking through Europe, and we kept it local for every single thing except... going to a Hard Rock for at least one meal in whatever city we found one. Not because we need pub grub, but for the free refills. And if you're bitching about slow service while you have the only establishment in the whole of Europe that understands the god-fearing capitalist sentiment of FREE REFILLS then you need to have your head taken out of your ass. I luxuriated in every single one of the Hard Rocks I found myself in (unfortunately, Stockholm's does NOT offer free refills, and we were not informed of that in advance, so we got a really nasty surprise of a $60 bill for a couple of burgers and 7 diet Cokes....) and this was a good one. Its location is second to none- across the street from the Hofbrauhaus. So shut up and drink your free refills, and be thankful that you're not paying more for a warm, 10 oz bottle of Coca Cola Light than you would for an authentic liter of Hefeweizen. After a long flight from Philadelphia to Munich a co-worker and I decided to make a stop somewhere where we knew what was on the menu and could get food fast. We came across this Hard Rock Cafe in the middle of the city and decided to stop. We arrive there shortly before the kitchen opened for lunch and while they were not ready to take our food orders yet the staff was very friendly and provided us with beverages while we waited. Both my co-worker and I ordered hamburgers which came out to our liking and we upgraded from fries to onion rings. We were impressed by the onion rings because they tasted as if they were hand cut and battered and not frozen (not sure if they actually were or not). My Hickory BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger was sizable and very enjoyable. The waiter that we had was attentive through out our whole meal and make sure that our drinks were never empty. The only reason why I am marking this as 4 stars and not 5 is because of the price. Everything that you purchase from this restaurant seems to be very expensive. I feel that you can purchase the same quality of food at other establishments throughout the city and be just as satisfied. If you are coming here for the experience and the atmosphere of the Hard Rock Cafe you will not be disappointed because of their set up and the displays that they have. If you are more in search of a tasty burger and could care less about what is hanging on the walls you may want to search out another location where the price is more wallet friendly. read more

We ate lunch at the Hard Rock Munich a few weeks ago for my birthday celebration. We were really opposed to choosing this American restaurant as we can get this anytime we want in The States, but we were really craving some American grub after eating the heavy German food all week. The service was EXTREMELY slow!!!! Yowsers!!!! We finally got the bartender to come over to the bar and he got us drinks right away and then disappeared again. We had to flag him down about 20 minutes later to come back over to the bar so we could order our food. He disappeared again without getting us drink refills. Am I crazy or shouldn't the bartender be stationed at the bar??? Our food arrives via a server and we still didn't have drink refills. Another 15 minutes or so goes by and then 2 bartenders show up...2 bartenders who spend the next 15 minutes completely ignoring us. We finally got our drinks, ketchup, and utensils and the food was actually pretty good. Thank goodness we had ordered salads and sandwiches and not some hot dish because it would have been cold by the time we could eat it!!! While the service was ridiculous, the servers and bartenders were actually nice (when they were actually serving), and the food was good and hit the much needed "American grub" spot. I would only recommend this restaurant if you have a couple of hours to kill....cause it's gonna be a while before you eat!!! read more

He claimed it was because I was the place was closed, but really because he thought that I was "drunk" (on Saturday September 23). I missed good American food while I was traveling in Germany and American restaurants are the only places there that allow to use there restrooms even when you don't eat there. Mannnn... This place had so much potential. But the service was devastating. Awful terrible service for the high price. My bill was almost $200 euros for only 4 people. Half of us got free tap water. The service was slow. The dirty plates sat on the table much too long. They had no one dedicated to cleaning dirty dishes as they were created. I saw the server put his fingers much to close to my food on the plate. The bathroom was very fancy. It had pre ripped toilet paper which was the first and only time I have ever seen that, it was very classy. The food was a 5/5 the cook is amazing 3rd best buffalo wings in the world. But the prices really showed when it came time. I would have given a honest 5 star if it wasn't for the poor service. I would not come back to eat. I could have gotten over the bad service for the price if at the end of the day a "fake American restaurant" would have had pickles. read more

It's true that they have free refills, but the service is slow and the food isn't very good, and for what you're paying compared to the other restaurants in that area, you should be getting a lot more. I asked for a well done burger and it was closer to medium well but anyways the fries were kinda dry and hard rock cafes are MUCH better in America.... definitely not a 2 star because the food was edible and served very well with a great ambience but I don't consider it as a 4 star.... oh just remembered to mention the hot dog was served cooled instead of hot, im sure there's better places u can eat in munich read more
