I needed to update my office after 17 years with paint and flooring. I wanted to go with a deep blue paint and dark gray laminate but realized it might be too dark. I needed to remain open so the last week of December I decided to close to make the updates. Enter Harwood flooring experts... It's been 9 years since I last used them and thankfully Ali still answered his phone. After 2 or 3 bids from other companies, I was left frustrated at the timeline and costs. I remembered Ali and gave him a call. Two rings, "I'm in the area and will be by in 1 hr." I had my painter waiting as this was a color scheme I needed input. Ali quickly and expertly told me to go with 1 shade lighter and suggested a light luxury Vinyl plank floating floor. Painter agreed the color would work and went with Ali's suggestion. I told him this is what I budgeted for including product, install, baseboards, and moving furniture. He said I can do that and I'll have it done next weekend (in two days) If you don't like it, don't pay. The painter heard this and said I can paint this weekend and have it done in two days and if you don't like it, don't pay me! I didn't have to close my office at all, no down time!!! Back to back weekends and I have a complete remodel. The luxury vinyl planks are waterproof and have a 25 year guarantee. The color matches perfectly as Ali suggested and I get nothing but compliments. I never thought about vinyl but it is soft, forgiving, and looks exactly like wood! If you are lucky enough to hire this great company, discuss EVERYTHING upfront & inspect the work while they are doing it. Ali invited me down to inspect and get my opinion from start to finish. Easiest, fastest, highest quality, and professional team top to bottom. They even came back to replace a plank I was unhappy with and, you guessed it, did a closet I didn't discuss with him for no extra cost. Seeing the way an actual professional installs hardwood flooring on stairs compared to how the previous owners of our home Mickey-moused bamboo into "stairs" blew my mind! Every time I see the work Ali's team did in our house I am so happy we chose them. Ali was kind enough to answer a million questions from my husband and I, he was patient and very informed, and the team worked around our schedule. We both work 8-5's Monday-Friday and the guys were there at 7am for two days of work. They not only overdelivered on the time frame, (we were initially quoted three days with our stairs and landing added to the living room and entryway project),but when I got home the first day, it was all done! The second day was just touch up, and they wanted to make sure we were happy and everything was perfect. I really can't say enough good for this company. Chose them. I have used Hardwood Experts two times now. My first home they stained the wood dark and my new home they just put in laminate upstairs and down. Ali's team works hard and does very clean work. I am a perfectionist and would say I'm anal about it being done right. As they completed the job, anything I wanted changed or fixed was done immediately and with a smile. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED, STAY AWAY! Restaining of hardwood floors was done in Sept 2016... Ali came recommended by another vendor I used for shutters installation, and she's great, so heck, why not give Ali a shot. He was reasonably-priced. This was for a new home we were moving into so I wanted the hardwood floors restained a darker color. That's it. 1. Work was promised to be completed in 3 days. Took 2 weeks due to their errors and it still wasn't done. We needed to move in, completed or not, and Ali was not empathetic to our situation. 2. Ali provided the onsite quote with my husband and told him that he would replace some of the damaged hardwood he found in the closet. When Ali's workers came to do the work, they said no wood is being replaced. When I spoke to Ali about it and what he discussed with my husband, he said he never told my husband he would replace wood for free. So he is essentially calling my husband a LIAR. Quite unethical and just bad, bad practices. What reason would my husband have to make up a BS story like that? We didn't even know we had damaged wood, let alone ask for free replacement. Shameful. 3. Restaining wood involves sanding down the top coat and stain....lots and lots of saw dust everywhere. They put up "covers" between rooms but it didn't matter because their sander kicked dust into every nook and cranny! My doorframes had caked up dust in and outside of the frames! All of my brand new installed kitchen appliances had dust all over them. Horrible. I asked Ali if he normally cleans after a job. He replied, "No, we don't deep clean your house." Are you serious? So you don't return my house the way you found it, clean? Unacceptable and just plain disrespectful to me and my brand new home. 4. The stain we selected was a beautiful dark brownish color. Thanks for that, one positive! The stain doesn't look so nice on my newly white painted base boards. When I asked Ali if his crew would be touching up my base boards from their mess, he said No. Apparently they don't clean up their overstaining either. They don't offer lots of "above and beyond" service. Sad. I have several more mishaps that I can list but I believe the above suffices for my severe discontent. Ali did offer to redo the floors all over again because there were several patches that were damaged by his worker. I had to break up with him and end it all. Because seriously, why would I want you to redo the bad work with the same worker that will likely do bad work again. Ali offered a discount for our dissatisfaction and that was how we ended it. I paid him the balance due and haven't asked them to return. We would not recommend Ali and Hardwood Experts. read more

0 star if I could. They have TERRIBLE post-sale service! By they, I basically just mean Ali. I was asked to take care of some floor scratches of a friend's place, and since the floor was initially done by Hardwood Experts, I contacted them to request an estimate of damage. Sent in an online form - no response; emailed - still nothing; called - 2 or 3 out of 10 calls were picked up. Finally I was able to schedule an appointment with Ali, but he didn't show up at the scheduled time and neither did I hear anything from him. I called, again, many times, and on my 5th or 6th attempt, he picked up the call and said "I'm with a customer and will arrive in 1 hour." Excuse me? At that point it was already 15 minutes after the scheduled time, and he was asking for another hour. But that was just the beginning. Our conversation continued as follows: Me: "I thought I had an *appointment* with you at [the scheduled time]." Ali: "Yes, but I told you I'm with a customer, and I would be happy to come by in 1 hour. If you want to wait, you can. If you don't, you can go to other companies, go to yelp, or do whatever you want." Me: "Why would I go to yelp? I just want to have the floor checked out!" Ali: "Then why did you send a Yelp email to me?" (from the information gathered during the conversation, this Yelp email is probably a bad review or a complaint) Me: "I didn't. I always contacted you by phone." Ali: "Okay, what's your address?" (the tone suggested he was trying to check if that was me who sent the email, not confirming the address where floor scratches were, because I already told him when making the appointment) Me: "[The address]." Ali: "Alright. (That was not you.) I can be there in 1 hour." Very impressive. Not only do they not give a shit to the bad reviews, but they also tried to put a false charge against me! Come on, if you are really in short of staffs, hire more or reduce the number of those falsely advertised services. I came to them ONLY because they did the floor for my friend's, otherwise I wouldn't have chosen them in the first place. So I waited for another hour at my friend's place, having nothing to do but wasting my time. After nearly 2-hours of waiting, with several text messages checking where Ali was, he finally arrived at the gate 1 hour and 45 minutes late. After he stepped in the apartment room at looked at the scratches, he said, "This is $1200. You could have just sent me pictures; I drove all the way from Orange County." I'm sorry, do you think I prefer waiting for 2 hours doing nothing? If I had been told that sending pictures was one of the options, I would have definitely chosen that from the very beginning! Also, I didn't ask you to drive from Orange County -- you offered free inspections on your website page, and now you are blaming me for letting you drive a long distance? I have never encountered any customer service as ridiculous as Hardwood Experts, and I'm so glad that I'm done with them. I hope everyone who have the floor installed by them never have any problems with your floors, otherwise it would just drive you crazy. They may be good at making beautiful floors for you, but watch out when it comes to post-sale service: you could be blamed for what I wrote here today (which you never did). read more

Dear Hardwood Experts, Thank you again for restoring the hardwood floor at my company office. After my company had its 20th Anniversary Party directly on site, our hardwood floor experienced some damages (deep scratches, liquid and food stains, and normal wear and tear). To say the least, the hardwood floor in the "Eagles Nest" was completely worn down and it severely needed a lift to restore its beauty. After doing some quick research on other hardwood floor companies, I found that yours had the best availability and pricing. I called Monday morning to schedule a free consultation and within a few hours Ali Kouhen (Regional Project Manager) was at my location promptly. He was direct, precise, and very transparent about the services that would and can be offered. So after all the endless positive 5 stars I thought I couldn't possibly go wrong with this company. I used them about a year ago and just like another customer, Ali have me a quote on the contract but on the day of the contract showed up and stated that his original quote did not have the sideboards! On the day of the consult, they called to say they were running late and would call before arrival, then, 4 hours later, they said they were outside my house but they were not. I just had Hardwood Experts put in a new floor in an upstairs hall and bedroom and I am completely thrilled with the results. Joey came to measure, showed me options for the new flooring, and was friendly, professional and efficient. The estimate was affordable (wood floors aren't cheap, unless you get crappy ones, but I felt the price was very fair) and I felt confident that he knew what he was doing. The floor I'd chosen needed to be a special order, it turned out, but they let me know right away, and although it delayed the work by a day or so I was still happy. Janelle in the office was great at communicating with me. Then they came and put in the floor. Good lord, it looks AMAZING. Roberto and Rigo were fast and friendly, they dealt with an uneven area of my floor without a problem, and the whole thing took a day and a half. New baseboards, everything. It looks fantastic, I could not be more pleased. It is clearly high quality work. Now all I need to do is keep the dogs and the kids from ruining it, and we're golden. My wife and I had been looking for wood laminate for around a year. However, we grew tired of all the flooring retailers and their large markup as middlemen and order takers. The price was just higher than we wanted to pay for about 1100 sq feet, to cover our downstairs. Fast forward a year, I get a monthly home improvement circular magazine in the mail. For whatever reason my attention is drawn to Hardwood Experts color ad. I decide to call them.....leave my name and number and yada yada.......I forgot about it. The next day, Joey, from Hardwood Experts calls me and asks if he can come by. I say OK, and what do you know, the guy is at my house two hours later. I explain to him what we want and even show him a sample that we had gotten. Joey measures out the area of our home, that we want done, does some quick math and Walla, the guy just beat the best price we had by over $1,000! Joey is very professional and offers up some advise on how to best deliver what we want. He even comes back two days later to brings us an exact sample of the wood laminate flooring, which we wanted for the house. I'm a little wary (its my nature) as I write a check for 10% of the job. He asks us when we want the installation, we arrive at a date, shakes our hands and he leaves. What do ya know, on the date we arranged to have the installation Juan and Andres show up at our house and begin the work. Surprisingly, the guys also are professional and very well seasoned at their craft. Two days and a couple pizzas later (buy them lunch and they will do anything for you) the guys finish. Holly Smokes the new wood laminate looks FANTASTIC, I mean like real wood! My wife and I are in shock over how great and improved our downstairs looks. Why didn't we do this sooner we ask ourselves? They were hired by the manufacturer to demo and replace our laminate flooring we had installed in 2013 due to defects. This crew removed our old floor, baseboards and corner molding and reinstalled new flooring, new painted baseboards and corner molding in the entire bottom section of out townhome in two days. Dealing with contractors is never fun. Dealing with "sales" people from a contracting company is horrible. We were dreading the process of getting new floors... where to shop?.... who to use to install?... how will it turn out? Who to trust?. We got a flyer and thought what the heck? BEST CALL I MADE!! Ali kept the time commitment. Didn't try and "sell" us on anything, just showed us what he had based on the color and style and budget. He measured and gave us a quote and let us decide.... was not a hard sell. Brought us some bigger samples, let us keep them for a few days to see at night, during the day, different rooms etc. The install crew was amazing. Roberto and Rodrigo--you guys rock!! These guys were the ultimate professionals. Kept things clean, their attention to detail was incredible. From the minute they walked in,until they cleaned up on their last day. They even washed down the sidewalk that had sawdust on it after working a long day before they left for the last time-- most guys are just trying to get out. We got our stairs done for the first time from carpet and we were worried... these guys made our simple house look like a show house... I and my husband don't like the sales manager who is called Ali! During the 4.5 days flooring job, he was trying to ask 3 times additional $$$$$!!! 1. 1st day: Ali told us the second floor Vinyl removal needed to charge $100. Isn't it his responsibility to check all the floors if there is vinyl or not when he came to my house and gave me the estimate? Before we signed the contract, he told me Vinyl removal is free, now he started to charge every little single thing!!! 2. 2nd day: Ali said if we wanted to make the stairway perpendicular, we should pay another $450! Cause the side of the stair way looks like 77777, and not straight down. He saw everything when he came for the estimate. Why he didn't tell me ahead? So ridiculous! 3. 3d day: Ali told us there was moisture on the cement in the first floor, so they had to charge 1.75$/sq ft! The market average price is only 1.00$ for that! They asked $1200 for the moisture problem which the material is only $450!!! 4. Before we signed the contract, Ali would like to offer cheaper wood material, free this, free that... But after the moment we signed the contract and paid $1000 deposit, he hanged my and my husband phone calls many times and changed to another face! 5. With his more than 10 years working experience, he should know everything ahead... And should not charge double or triple during the flooring job! He told us 15,250$ from the estimate! But he added up everything to $17,000!!! Cause they know the customers had low chances to back out! 6. The first day, Ali told us all the crew would arrive my house 9:00-10:00am, I and my husband waited until 11:00am, and no one showed, so my husband left for some other things... Then Ali came around noon and yelling at me and yelling to my husband on the phone why we didn't get his check ready! We can't wait for him forever!!! 7. I and my husband offered all the flooring guys lunch and drinks every day and very nice to them and also gave them good tips in the last day! But from the conversation with the hardwood expert company, they didn't appreciate how we treat their flooring guys... Of cause we tipped the good people who work hard for us, not the one kept asking for money $$$$$!!! 8. I and my husband really don't like the game they play with us.., gave us a low ball price and got us in, and then asked for $$$$$ for little single thing! And we also felt very disappointed with the sales manager's attitude! I think the boss from hardwood export needs to educate their employees how to treat their customers right way!!! 9. Horrible experience before our wedding( same week), felt disappointed with their way how to treat their customers! My aunt and parents' houses need flooring job too, and they are getting estimate from all wood floor companies now. Of course, I won't recommend hardwood expert! The Sale Representative was great and charming. I rated 3 Stars because of the installer name Luis. He's very unprofessional. He was suppose to arrive between 9-10am on Saturday to start my flooring project. He didn't arrive till 12:36 pm with two other Installers. Luis had a negative attitude since the moment he arrived. I felt like I was disturbing his weekend or something. In the end he stated he doesn't know how to float solid, hardwood floor on concrete. I canceled the service, afterwards. Days later I found a crumpled up receipt in my garage, where he parked his van.....turns out to be Luis and his crew was having lunch at El Pollo Loco at 10:53 am. His name was on the receipt. Yet, he lied to the Sale Rep and said he's at the warehouse, picking up supplies. Make sure you ask who your Installer is....if it's Luis, demand another Installer immediately. He reminds me of an ex-gang member without a license in installing floors. I also complained to the owner but I doubt he'll say anything to Luis. Probably due to cheap labor, for a guy without a license. read more

I few weeks later, one of the boards, began to pop up. This should be a very easy and quick fix. I called Ali more than 4 times to report the problem and ask if it could be fixed. He put me off for many different reasons and insisted that he would call back with a date to come out. It has been over 2 months since the first call and 3 weeks since the last. I had 3 different estimates finally i was convinced to hire them for 1 when i called to schedule for free in home estimate jessica was very professional and friendly and took time to ask every possible question about my flooring needs 2 ali coheen ( project manager) was on time at my house he listened to all what i had to say for about ten minutes he understood what i needed. He helped decide about what is the best color for my house Hw was very honest and most importantly his quote was very fair compared to the other ones. I hired them the crew came on scheduled day and time. They were very professional very clean they knew what they were doing they were easy to communicate with. This business was great, from the first time I stopped in and looked around the showroom and spoke to Kristy, and the next time I went in a picked up some samples, and scheduled a consultant (Neal) to get a quote; to the day and 1/2, it took to complete the job my experience was excellent. This review is a long time coming, I was first told of this company by a customer while I was shopping at Home Depot for wood flooring, she told me she had used them on more than one project and was thrilled. I first used Ali back in 2013 for my rental unit, the work was completed on time and the the pricing was perfect. So when my mother decided to place hardwood flooring in her home Ali was who we turned too. He brought in many samples for us to choose and his pricing beet many of the competitors we decided to get estimates from. His guys showed up on time every morning finished the project within three days and kept the place very clean, after they finished. No sooner than the work was done it was discovered that my mom had a sewer leak under the ground in the kitchen, we called Ali to see what he can do, he sent his guys in to remove the wood flooring in the area that was to be dug and after the plumber completed the work the came back and replaced them like nothing had happened. Joey Cisneros, the Project Manager, not your typical sales person like other companies, showed up on time and first impressions of the company were highly exceeded. He was professional, knowledgeable, and his presentation helped us narrow down the best type of flooring suitable for our family considering we have small children and family pets. Although pricing was not an issue because we were thinking hardwood floors, he recommended we go with a long lasting durable laminate that looks just as good as any hardwood floor at half the cost. He presented us many styles and colors and was very patient with our indecisiveness. After selecting our floor with a competitive price, we scheduled for installation. The installers did the job in a clean, professional, and timely manner. Joey managed the project from beginning to end with no worries. I am very pleased with the company and the work they did. I couldn't have been happier with Hardwood Experts. I got quotes from five different companies, however, once I met Ali, I knew my search had ended. Ali was professional, brought samples, and listened to my needs. He recommended some beautiful options for laminate floors and was patient while we flip floped on options in the showroom. The best part was they quoted hundreds of dollars less than the next lowest bid. They were able to schedule work the same week and completed our whole upstairs in one day. I left for work with dirty carpet and come home to gleaming new floors. They moved all the furniture as part of the service and cleaned up after themselves perfectly. Just bought a new house and wanted carpet replaced with hardwood flooring and baseboards throughout. Called a few places to get quotes. Got a good vibe from Hardwood Experts (plus they had rave reviews on Yelp). Their pricing was very competitive and they were able to get the exact flooring brand I wanted (Urban Floor). The product is great and the installation was perfect. They finished 1200 sqft in about 2.5 days and cleaned up everything afterward. I'm pretty picky about contractors but honestly could not find anything to complain about with these guys. These guys are legit! I wish I could put zero stars. Terrible. Terrible Terrible. We used them to sand down the original floors in our house and stain them dark walnut. It has been about 9 months and they have scratches EVERYWHERE and we are not "rough" with them, we don't own a big dog, have a child or use anything on them and if you barely touch them it leaves a scratch. Not only that but we needed a couple touch ups after our contractor was done with the house and their "touch ups" are a totally different color and look worse than they were before they started. My husband called to complain and see what we could do to fix them and the owner HUNG UP on him and will not return our calls. They are the most unprofessional company I have ever worked with and we just remodeled our entire him. Now the floors are not only 2 colors (due to their touch ups), scratches everywhere (they sealed them badly) but now they are peeling everywhere! My home is beautiful but this is the one part (and a huge part might I add) that I am so disappointed in. Every time I look at them I get upset so I finally wanted to take the time to write a review. I am appalled that they have 5 stars- trust me use someone else! read more
