All the kids are autistic, and on the roof, the floor is so bumpy i fell every day. Smith worked with him, and his special needs, and slowly enabled him to regain his ability to work on par with his fellow students. In addition, they were able to enhance his studies with a variety of music classes and enrichment activities. He will be graduating this year. My daughter transferred from one of the large New York City specialized schools. There she felt, lost in the shuffle, and completely unsupported both academically, as well as emotionally. Both kids actually look forward to going to school in the morning. They feel challenged, motivated, and respected. The teachers at Smith have an uncanny ability to meet kids at their individual levels and needs. They listen to the kids, thus allowing them to have a voice and feel control over some aspects of their education. I truly recommend Smith for any parent that wants to see their child happy, empowered, challenged, and enjoying the process of learning.

He went from D's and F's in public school to straight A's in the Smith School. My daughter, a sweet and sensitive angel with an artistic sensibility, also failed to thrive at her public school - the pressure was just too much and she was anxious and miserable much of the time. Moving her into the Smith School, we saw a dramatic shift - she is now happy, and also getting straight A's. If you (like myself) are a parent in NYC and dissatisfied with your child's education, I strongly advise you to check out the Smith School.
