Me and my boyfriend stayed here for our birthday and we had an amazing time. Despite mixed reviews our room was very clean and smelled nice. Upon checking in they upgraded us to the new Dive Inn tower, room was absolutely gorgeous with him and her sinks, huge king size bed and lovely shower. Harrahs offers complimentary valet which was a life saver for us and our luggage. During our 3 nights here it was nice to have our car come to us whenever we needed to leave. We had smashburger here although it was tasty it was a bit pricey but as expected at a resort. Coming on a Tuesday it was very relaxed at the pool and nice to hang out without it being jam packed. We made reservations at Tierra Y Mar for the 16th but unfortunately early morning I received a email cancelling our birthday dinner due to maintenance which was pretty upsetting so we drove back down to San Diego for our birthday. Besides our reservations being cancelled unexpectedly everything went really smooth here at Harrahs and I look forward to coming back soon. read more

I always enjoy gambling at Harrah's Southern California. The casino floor is very large, with a huge selection of slot machines to choose from. I really enjoy the atmosphere here as well. The casino feels warm, vibrant, and welcoming. There are a number of great dining options and a good selection of drinks that can be ordered directly from the slot machines. However, as of right now, drinks are cash only, even though the slot machine provides an option to pay by card. When my drink arrived, I was in the middle of a bonus and did not have any cash with me. The drink server was very understanding and told me I could finish my bonus and then go to an ATM to pay. I thought that was excellent customer service. The staff throughout the casino have always been very friendly. Surprisingly, despite being a smoking casino, the casino floor does not have a strong smoke smell. Harrah's also has a high-limit room that genuinely feels like a high-limit room. It is brighter and has a noticeably different atmosphere from the main casino, which makes it feel like a separate area. Overall, this is by far my favorite casino to play at. I have never had any issues here and have always had a great experience. One thing to keep in mind is that the parking garage can be very tight, particularly when parking and getting in and out. I would not recommend bringing a large vehicle. Other than that, everything has been great, and I always enjoy my time here. read more

This past Sunday came here for a bus trip and it was pretty cool. They gave many nice slot machines and good eateries here. They have a cabana outside with a nice pool and bar area. They play music as well. This casino/resort is very up to date and modern. It's very clean inside and good bats to watch games. I would come back to stay even though nothing is really next to it. This review is for a concert I went to see there. First of all, the acts were great, so Harrahs gets a star for attracting good talent to perform. The onsite parking is really convenient and from your parking spot in the deck or the adjacent lot, the casino and concert hall are easy to access. However, that is where the kudos end. The room we saw the concert in looked like a conference room for a convention. I was like are we here to rock out or be moved by a keynote speaker that will get us in touch with our feelings?!? The chairs and carpet look like they're from circa 1977. The light fixtures must have been part of the 1981 remodel and everything just looks and smells old. We had a fun and super relaxing staycation at Harrah's So Cal. ‍ We stayed two nights. Here are our ratings breakdown. It was my first time to Harrah's. Room: We stayed in a Premium King room in the Dive Inn Tower. The view of the pool area was fantastic. The room was clean and I love that even though it doesn't have an actual balcony, it has a sliding glass door that opens so you can get lots of fresh air. The room rate was reasonable using the Caesar's Rewards app. Food (not including Hell's Kitchen): food options are limited. There are currently two full service restaurants that are in the process of rebranding. This leaves current food options limited to fast food, Chinese food, and pool food. There is a cafe, which we ate at once, and it also falls under the one star category. Hell's Kitchen: Definitely worth the splurge! Food and service were impeccable. We enjoyed our meal very much. (Reviewed Hell's Kitchen separately. Night life: Not a destination for night life. There was a band that played one of the nights, but it was not really our jam. Casino: As far as casinos go, it was fine. We are not gamblers, but we threw a few $$ in a video blackjack game. Casino is very smoky. Pool area: This is definitely a highlight and was the main reason for us choosing Harrah's. There is a swim up bar and a large adult only pool. Kids are allowed at the lazy river portion so that area gets super crowded. But it's a fun vibe. We appreciated that the rest of the pool area is adults only (21+) and the staff were on top of running kids out. Adequate chairs and umbrellas for shade. One star, if only.... With an establishment this big, you would think their customers service would be top notch. The amount of money people spend here for rooms, gambling and restaurants, a little appreciation would have been nice. The last thing we all want to worry about is finding bugs and whatever unsanitary conditions in our room. You expect to walk into a clean and sanitized space where you could lay your head down and not have to worry about little critters crawling around. Well that's exactly what I've experienced. BUGS.... How would feel seeing that in your room. Coming in to lay down and relax after spending good money at your establishment. And waking up to little critters crawling next to your head. Wtf... That's the last thing you expect to experience. Waking up the next day with bugs crawling next to your head. Not only that, more throughout the sheets. Even with pictures and videos, yes they're alive. I would say something like this is major. From the bugs, what else could this room be hiding. Was it not cleaned. Was sheets not checked and just dusted over. The last thing you want to do is be in your room let alone knowing that you are more than likely going to have to get rid of everything. Apparently all the rooms are sold out as I was informed at the front desk. They could get me a suite but that wouldn't be for hours. With a massive chains like this, you know spare rooms are often saved for an incident. Last thing I want to do is head back to my bug infested room. You would expect customers service to be a priority for an established as this. People spending good money and yes, I have. To then have to experience something involving BED BUGS. It has been YEARS since I last came back to Harrah's Resort Southern California (once known as Harrah's Rincon) The rooms are good for what they are comfortable big and a good size bath tub and shower.... Clean and no issues in the room. Bed was comfortable and everything is pretty decent.... Stayed there for 2 days in the middle of the week. Didn't try any restaurants and mid week the casino wasn't that busy.... I played a little each day. I'm a Caesars Rewards member, so I really wish this hotel could better compete with the other local casinos. There are several nearby properties that offer better restaurants, a wider selection of slots, nicer rooms, and more rewarding loyalty programs. Because of that, I often find myself visiting other casinos, even though I would benefit more from earning Caesars Rewards credits at Harrah's. We were excited to spend the weekend at Harrah's San Diego using a complimentary room. We started our first day at SeaWorld, and my oldest daughter flew in from Seattle to join us. Unfortunately, she wasn't feeling well, so I told her to head to the hotel and have them check her in while we stayed behind at SeaWorld. I gave her my ID and credit card so she could check in, but unfortunately, she was told she could not check in. I completely understand that there are policies and procedures, but I was disappointed that there wasn't even an option to provide her with a pass to use the pool or a place to relax while waiting for us to arrive. Since we are regular Caesars guests and spend quite a bit at their properties, this was disappointing and honestly left us feeling a little let down. My daughter ended up having to go to Pala Casino and pay for a room instead. I'm sharing this because I hope Harrah's can look at situations like this and find a way to accommodate loyal guests, especially when the primary guest has provided their ID and credit card and is already on the way. We otherwise enjoy staying with Caesars and hope our future experiences will be better. read more

"You're gonna miscarry on the table." -- a verbatim comment made by a member of the spa staff to my pregnant fiancée. We went to Harrah's in mid-September for a relaxing getaway. My fiancée called to make a spa appointment, and we confirmed 4 PM. At 3 PM, the spa called telling us we were late. The staff member was extremely condescending and rude toward my pregnant fiancée, spoke to her as though the scheduling issue was her fault, and then, while discussing spa services, told her, "You're gonna miscarry on the table." That comment was completely unacceptable. If a treatment isn't appropriate during pregnancy, explain the safety concern professionally. Telling a pregnant customer she is going to miscarry is an entirely different matter -- especially when the spa offers prenatal services. We immediately made the spa supervisor aware of what was said. The supervisor did apologize, but no reimbursement or other meaningful gesture was offered. Unfortunately, our experience continued at Tierra y Mar. We ordered a salad with added chicken breast and found bones in the chicken. We brought this to the restaurant staff's attention, but despite a bill of over $100, we were still charged for the chicken. No credit, refund, or even an apology was offered. The spa comment was shocking and deeply upsetting, and finding bones in our food was unacceptable. We expected much better from a property like Harrah's. read more

This isn't our favorite casino but it works because they have the lazy river that our kids love. The only reason we came here is because our favorite casino, Pechanga, was fully booked due to Manny Pacquio's son fighting there this weekend. So, my wife got comped rooms here for us to bring the kids for spring break. The suites are nice and the beds are pretty comfortable. They do provide a full mini fridge unlike other casinos that have the fully stocked fridges, where if you move something in it, they charge you. They also have several restaurants that are decent plus a Starbucks that's open until midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. They have everything from Mexican, American and Asian but the only drawback is they don't have any seafood restaurants. Hell's Kitchen does have seafood but it's expensive. If you're looking for a quick bite, there is an Earl's sandwiches and a Smashburger for some quick fast food (it's not really quick though because everyone is there). We booked two rooms and our suite wasn't ready until 8pm so they upgraded us to the Surfside suite which was cool. However, we had to all hang out in the normal room for a few hours until they finally upgraded to the higher suite. Overall, Harrah's is cool but Pechanga is our go to in this area. "The cafe" at Harrah's was great. Went on a super busy duly booked hotel weekend so you know things got crazy. I will say the color scheme and ambience was giving relaxed vibes. The line moved quickly. We were seated at a booth and quickly attended to by our server. I appreciate that the menu wasn't overwhelming, nice and simple classic. My husband and I enjoy our visits to Harrahs SoCal. The hotel is clean and spacious inside. There is plenty of parking in the garage. The rooms are decent. The bed is a bit too hard for me. Even-though it's a smoking casino, the ventilation is good. They offer complimentary water and soft drinks. I enjoy playing the slots. They have a variety of restaurants. We like Hell's Kitchen and Smashedburgers. The cafe is decent. If you're in a mood for a swim, there is a lazy pool. However, it gets busy with kids. I like they have a separate adults pool and there's a swim-up bar. It feels like you're on vacation. During this visit, I had the opportunity to use their spa. Looks like my last experience was 10 years ago. I came here again to celebrate Mother's Day with both my mom and mother-in-law and extended family. We got two rooms; one was comped and the other we paid for. The rooms were pretty expensive that day, which okay fine, but what I didn't like was the lack of service we had this time around. Everything just felt a bit off this time around. My biggest thing about this hotel was the strong cigarette smell that you can smell the second you walk into this property. Upon checking in at 5PM, they actually told us they didn't have a room ready for us, even if check-in was at 4. We had to speak with someone, and eventually they did give us a room, but we thought it was odd that they didn't already have a room ready past check-in time. The floating river is a nice touch to this hotel, but the way they didn't explain the details to us of how to get into the pool area without wristbands at check-in was also really annoying. We had to wait in line at the front desk AGAIN, which took a long time to receive the passes we needed in order to get to the pool. Overall, we had a lot of misses this time at this property, but maybe it'll be better next time. read more

Came here for a Chris Issac concert. Large casino in the middle of nowhere. Haven't been to a casino this crowded in a long while. Rooms were expensive so stayed at a different property. The concert venue is odd, basically a ballroom with banquet seats set up looking at the stage. It had make shift grandstand bleachers in the back. The sound system was good and Chris sounded great. If you can get a good rate for the room I would consider staying. But IMO it's not worth 400 a night. read more

You might get lucky and earn some comp rooms. Caesars is also in Vegas so if you play here you'll get invites for Vegas as well. Probably the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. Finding a carcass of an animal in the pool area. Felt like no urgency was expressed, yet they gave me a hard time over a bag of chips being brought into the pool area. Instead of being more empathetic or concerned about the skeleton rat, the manager Curtis tells me "its policy about the food" absolutely horribly. I live only an hour away from here, I have a Ceasars Credit Card. But never again will I come to this Caesars Hotel and this will be escalated to the County of San Diego about the sanitariness and health of your customers. read more

It's difficult for me to visit this Caesars property but it's one of my favorite. The best spa and pool area! What's not to like? This trip was a bit of a mixed bag. Loved eating, drinking, and hanging out at Hell's Kitchen. As a Caesars Rewards member coming from Nor Cal, my comp and free play is substantial. The highlights were my Arnica massages at the spa and being setup with my new host Jawad, who went out of his way to make my trip the best he could. I had a pretty major issue though. I hope the following can help someone else. Unfortunately, the Caesar property's don't all have the same e-check policies. Due to this, since I'd not been here in a while, I called ahead of time to ask their policy. Primarily, if I'd have unlimited access to my funds using my e-check. The person I spoke to said yes, she thinks so. I told her this was really important to me and would she please make sure. She put me on hold and returned saying yes. I had a 3-night trip and on my second morning I went to the cage to make a withdrawal with my e-check and was told I'd reached my limit. Crazy! Long story short, I communicated my experience and I was given options that would cost me significant money to access my funds. Obviously, if whoever answered my call had given me the correct information, I would have gone to my bank prior to my trip here. My wife when we come to Southern California, we stay here as the rooms are very nice and on the weekdays we get a really nice room and suite to stay at. Unfortunately, my wife and I like to be active gambling or going to Sea World or this time going to the San Diego Zoo and the Wildlife park. We stayed in the Ohio suite which is a two bed room suite with a tub, shower and two toilets which is really nice. What I really love to do is go out to the balcony and lay outside. I sometimes go to the common room just to hang out and just sit there and enjoy. There was a party outside the room, but good thing we did not hear anything. The past 2 visits this casino has been really good to me. I finally got a hand pay here on Top Dollar Deluxe. There was another game where I thought I was going to get a hand pay, but missed the boat which is alright, but I guess no waiting for the dreaded slip. One thing that is good is they pay you right on the spot and no need to wait. However, I feel bad for the slot attendants as they are carrying a lot of money with them. On Thursday, they had a play to redeem a gift card, but for some reason I played quite a bit and was only getting $20 dollars which sucked once I got to the machine to redeem. But at least I came out a winner and the final game I played treated me well. I also played a couple of hours here too which probably helped. I think also if we do a full day staying here is maybe we will go to the pool and try it out as it looks fun and try out the amenities or try other casinos at there since I always been curious. One thing I am surprised at is you have to pay for internet of $12.99 and that sucks since I am a Diamond Plus member I thought I would get it for free, but I guess not. read more

My 5 coworkers and I rented a cabana on a Thursday in the main pool area for approx $250. It came with a shaded area, two lounge chairs, towels, chips and salsa, a fridge, a locker, some water bottles, a few sodas, and a pitcher of iced water. Abigayle took great care of us and was very friendly. We bought food from inside the casino and brought it out to the cabana. Wristbands are provided for 21+. The lazy river wasn't as big as I thought it would be and it was absolutely packed with kids. It's good to see some family fun, but the lazy river was hard to enjoy since kids kept jumping and splashing in all around us. They even swam under us a few times and would knock us around in our tubes. Tubes are not provided and you must bring your own. We brought a mini battery operated air pump to blow them up when we got there. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed our time but will probably check out some adult only lazy rivers in the future. read more

UPDATE - September 2026 We recently returned to Harrah's Resort Southern California after the experience described in my original review, and I want to give credit where it is deserved. Niklesh Modi, Director of Hotel Operations, and Ryan Adams took our previous concerns seriously and went above and beyond to make our return visit a wonderful experience. We were provided with a beautiful suite in the Dive Inn Tower, our check-in experience was excellent, and we had a fantastic dinner at Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen. We truly appreciated their professionalism, hospitality, and the effort they made to make things right. Unfortunately, I still believe guest service at the Dive Pool needs improvement. When we arrived this time, the staff did not greet or acknowledge us. We also asked about renting a chair and were told that rentals were no longer available because it was after 3:00 PM. We understand there may be a cutoff time for rentals, but a friendly greeting and a more courteous explanation would have made the experience much more welcoming. Overall, our return visit was a tremendous improvement. Mr. Modi and Mr. Adams deserve special recognition for listening to our concerns, following through, and making us feel genuinely welcomed back. They restored our confidence in the resort, and we look forward to returning. We hope some additional attention can be given to guest service and hospitality at the Dive Pool so that the experience there matches the excellent service we received throughout the rest of the resort. read more

Unfortunately, the way my complaint was handled after our stay was almost as disappointing as the experience itself. My partner experienced an uncomfortable interaction involving his foreign identification/documentation that left us feeling singled out and unwelcome. When I later spoke with resort management, I was told employees have a physical reference booklet regarding acceptable identification and that what happened could potentially have been a training issue. However, when Expedia later contacted Harrah's, I was shocked to hear my concern characterized as employees simply being "rude." That significantly minimizes what I actually reported. Harrah's offered a complimentary future stay/upgrade, but I don't understand how asking a guest to return to the same property is supposed to resolve an experience that made them uncomfortable returning in the first place. Expedia was also told I "declined" this offer, which is inaccurate. I told management I would call back. We ultimately left before the end of our reservation, and after weeks of attempting to resolve the matter through both Harrah's and Expedia, the resort declined the refund request. This stopped being just about a refund for me. I wanted the underlying concern taken seriously and accurately represented. Instead, I walked away feeling like it was minimized. Having a staycation at Harrahs for the lazy river pool. The two queen bed are standard rooms but their showers are massive. We call it the family shower as it fits a family of 4. It has a mini fridge but not a full length mirror. More like 3/4 mirror. The other downside, the carpet was damp when walking with socks and gave a musty room smell that the AC couldn't fix. Because we are local, we decided to skip staying the night and went home. However, we had a fun time at the pool. Lazy river section for all ages, 21+ swim up bar and the main pool. The main pool had volley ball net another section had corn holes. You can reserve the cabanas or first come first serve chairs. They need to replace the chairs. Most of them are broken by the lower back. Not allowed to bring in food or drinks. You are allowed to bring your own floaters. Majority brought the donut tube floaty. Their poolside food is good, it's from 'Ritas the Mexican restaurant or snack side bar. The prices are fair. read more

My husband and I enjoy three nights comped here at this location. Our check-in was smooth and the front desk host was friendly and efficient. We were located in a two queen non-smoking handicap room in the dive in rooms as the one non-smoking that we requested was unavailable. The room was very clean, the beds were comfortable, no signs of any bugs or anything like that. There are lots of options to dine out, but please take note that a lot of the restaurants are closed on Monday Tuesday and possibly Wednesday or any combination of the three... The Cafe was really good. We had breakfast there. Rita's Cantina had a yummy Birria ramen bowl and delicious cocktails. The pool area was clean. The water was warm and the pool bar was efficient. Incompetence at its finest, check in was a hassle no actual person was able to help me get into my room for 2hrs after I checked in. The both machines to get the room key yourself was not working. Our keys kept stopping because of our phone magnet had to constantly return to front desk for new ones. Bring your own floaters because it's about $30 each for the cheapest. Idk it used to better but quality is shit. Customer service is terrible, you have to do room service through your phone to a QR code and show ID in your own room that you have placed order so basically if you have teenagers, you have to stay upstairs for them to bring your kids food so you can share your ID. I honestly can't believe how frustrating this experience was. I haven't been here in over a year, and tonight reminded me why. I specifically came in to use the non-smoking section, only to find that due to construction, they've placed high-limit machines in that area where smoking is somehow allowed. How does that make any sense? The whole point of a non-smoking section is to avoid smoke--this is just poor planning and even worse management. It gets worse. Right as I'm getting ready to sit down and play, they completely shut down the non-smoking section to clean it. Completely. So now there's literally no option for anyone who doesn't want to be around smoke. That's not an inconvenience--that's a total failure in operations. I brought this up to a floor manager and made it clear that whoever is in charge of this setup is doing a terrible job. There was no real solution offered, which left me with only one option: leave. And that's exactly what I did. Drove less than 3 miles up the road to another casino that actually understands how to manage a non-smoking section without shutting it down entirely.
