I had a challenging day yesterday, yet needed some supplies to make a headpiece for a little girl who is celebrating a life ritual today. I walked into Susan's Flower and Gifts and found Jody Ensign behind the cash register, she pointed me to the back and Lynn and another woman ( I am sorry I didn't get your name) were working hard fulfilling a wedding order. They stopped what they were doing to give me the small supplies and even contributed some beautiful flowers for the garland. I then went up to choose a piece of comfort chocolate and Jody gave me a piece. As I opened my wallet she said, "No charge Sheri. I hope you have a better day." Omgosh, did I have a better day? YES, I left with tears in my eyes because I was reminded of the beautiful friends I have made here and the deep roots that run between those of us who found are way home to Carbondale so many moons ago. The arrangement was certainly not worth $50. Not nearly. I got a beautiful, colorful, lively and lovely arrangement at the City Market only a week later for $30.
