Due to technical banking issues with both my bank and Harrods' credit card system, my original transaction in the store was disputed and investigated by my bank 2 weeks after the transaction date. Chase refunded the monies, $34.97, while researching. Chase determined that the issue with the delayed original transaction was due to the credit card system used by Harrods and removed the amount from my bank account. 2 days after Chase notified me that the situation had been closed, I stopped by Harrods. As I have always been very friendly with all of the employees, the owner recognized my voice and came out of the office in the back of the store. She ran up to me and stood very close to my face, raised her voice, and said, "sir, you owe me money!" I told her that my bank had already removed the funds from my account. She continued saying, "they have not! You need to pay me money now! You own me money now!" Again, I told her that this was an issue with the banks and credit card systems, and that the monies have already been removed from my account. She exclaimed, "you have to call your bank and tell them to pay me." I responded that "they have already removed the funds from my account, and that she should contact her credit card company." She demanded that I pay immediately. I told her again, as I was turning towards the door - afraid from being confronted and attacked in such a way in a private business - that the monies had already been taken from my account, and that I would just not return to her business anymore. She replied, "fine! You are not welcome here anymore!" I have spent well over $1,000 at this business over the past year, and this is absolutely no way to treat a good customer. She was very disrespectful, treating me like a thief. read more
