I bought a gift box today that was moldy, I opened it 30 mins after purchasing and noticed the mold. I brought back the box and was yelled at for returning the box and assuming it was mold. "That's humidity! You don't know what you're talking about!" I'd rather have experienced an exchange or a refund than being yelled at. I've been smoking long enough to know the difference between a good cigar and a moldy one. I wouldn't recommend this store based on the confrontational customer experience. I wasn't refunded and I wasn't given an option to exchange it for different cigars. The gentleman who was working opened another box and it was also moldy. He then proceeded to yell at me about his frustration because now he can't sell either gift set because they have been opened (even though both were moldy and unsmokeable). read more

I trust the reviews are more than accurate regarding Harry and it appeared as if it was a well stocked humidor, however it was a no go for me when I saw the sign stating that in-store smoking was only for members. Visited this shop for the first time a couple weeks ago. Walked in and asked if it was OK if I went into the humidor room to look around. The guy working asked if I wanted any help and I said no thanks, I knew what I was looking for. This seemed to annoy him. After I went in, he came and stood at the humidor window, staring at me the whole time I was looking at the cigar selection (which was just ok). Not sure if he thought I was going to steal something or couldn't believe that I would be able to pick out something on my own. Not the most comfortable shopping experience. This is a quick read review. I don't recommend this place. I'm a cigar smoker and have been fortunate to have made my way around several cigar shops in the Los Angeles area. Most I have visited more than twice but I would not come back here, solely based on I was not allowed to smoke in the lounge because it's a members only establishment but I wasn't told that until after I bought cigars. It's a small shop with a decent selection. The owner was not forth coming. Just started working in the area, so I always want to check out the local area to find something new. Sadly in Burbank, smoking outdoors is FROWNED upon, so if you want a nice cigar you have to find a lounge. Guess What? you can count on your fingers how many lounges/cigar friendly locations there are. After Yelping around, I found Harry's so my buddy and I headed over after a quick lunch to check out the lounge. Harry was very engaging, and has a very neat and well stocked humidor. Prices are a bit higher than what I find in the OC, but its LA County so I get to support the nuts in City Hall. Harry did explain its a members only club, so we could not smoke there, another new concept for us. BUT he did allow us to stay since it was our first time, although the shop was completely empty so I dont think we would have miffed anyone. My regular lounges not only let you smoke without membership, but also have multiple TVs and Free WiFi. Kind of torn because Harry is very congenial, and the selection is good, but if you cant smoke there, I may as well go to BevMo and find a park to smoke in. read more

One star solely for the 'members only' policy which IMHO is an insulting dealbreaker. That said, I freely admit the owner's right to have that policy and it's apparently working for him so mazel tov. Said hello to 2 guys sitting down who stared blankly at me and then someone who I assume was the owner apprached me at the humidor door and said "can I help you?" Wow, what a SCAM this place is! I recently moved to Burbank and have been checking out the various cigar lounged in the area. In the case of Harry's, I use the term "lounge" loosely, as this is not really a lounge; it's a retail cigar store with a couple of uncomfortable-looking chairs in the front. Anyway, I bought two cigars for myself and my friend, about $10 - $15 each, then I reached for a lighter and the owner immediately chastised me, stating that I could not smoke in the store unless I paid a $650 "membership fee". Say what??? I've been in cigar lounges all over the country and many in LA that are actual lounges, FAR, FAR nicer than this place and NONE of them have ever demanded a membership fee to smoke in the store. Yes, there are super high-end members-only cigar clubs like Grand Havana Room, but I've never heard of a crappy little cigar store in a strip center trying to extort membership fees from its customers. Do yourself a favor and skip this dump. Instead, I recommend Cigar Sanctuary or Big Easy Cigars, both of which are much nicer, have friendly management and don't try to rip off their customers. read more

How could anyone rate this place higher than one star shocks me. I went in to pick out some pipe tobacco and ask for some suggestions. I walked past someone near the front door smoking a cigar and was in the shop for several minutes before he asked me if I needed help. I told him that i had just inherited some estate pipes, had tried a few lighter blends but was looking for something new since I hadn't tried many. There was a five second pause, then he said "you want lighter tobacco cigar?!" with a weird look on his face. I said, "no, I'm looking for a few new options for pipe tobacco" and he pointed at a Lucite box the size of a old 13 inch television and said, "pipe tobacco right there" and walked off without saying anything else. Selection was small, service was non-existent and even if you are a member, the area for smoking is like a small waiting area at a doctors office with a TV on the wall. read more

Just moved here from Kansas City, MO and there we're BIG cigar smokers. Walk in humidors in smoke shops that range from 600 square feet to over 1200 sq feet! Where the size of all walk in humidors pales in comparison to those in KC the service here is top notch and VERY friendly! I walked past a few days ago and had to stop in and check it out. Harry jumped up and greeted me after he kindly excused himself from another customer he was speaking with. He asked me how I was and if he could help me. I just responded: "just going to take a look at your humidor if you don't mind." He responded with something to the likes of: please do if you have any questions please ask. After I was browsing the selection (and also happily noting he keeps his humidity levels at an appropriate level) he stopped in and noted that he had his own special blend rolled just for him from Fonseca. While not being an avid Fonseca fan I thought twice about this purchase but decided to give it a shot. I chose a robusto size with what looked like a maduro wrapper. I did not have a punch or cutter on me so I asked him if he could punch it for me and he did. The cigar was great! I'd probably give it a 8 out of 10. The only thing that held it back from a higher score was the draw was a little loose for my taste but other than that: fantastic. The boyfriend was in search for a new pipe and quality pipe tobacco. It seemed like everywhere we went, the pipe tabacco was meh and the pipes were only affordable if you didn't mind spending $200+. Then we found Harry's. It's a small, quaint little place. You can tell the owner takes pride here. We walked in and were greeted with kindness. They have an AMAZING selection of pipes at all prices and looks like they're cigar selection is pretty awesome also. I've been in cigar shops all over the country and the world for that matter and I cannot think of anybody who is more knowledgeable or nicer than Harry. I go out of my way to stock up on cigars from Harry's Tobbaco. The selection is small but high quality. He has a small members only smoking section with comfortable chairs and good sports on the TV. Because Harry has a small shop his smoking area is limited to members only who have a locker in the back. From a business sense it would not make sense for him to allow anybody to smoke at his establishment when he has paying members. The comments below chastising his business model are petty at best. Harry's is Awesome! From the first time I walked in, Harry treated me like a VIP. I bought a Humidor at a different store (that I won't name) and I knew nothing about it. Harry told me everything i needed to know. Later i realize the humidity was not holding at all. Happy offered some suggestions and even offered to take a look at it for me. Sure enough it turns out the "box" i had could scarcely be called a Humidor. A waste of money. When I bought my next one "From Harry" he offered to hold it for a few days to treat the wood properly and make sure everything it tip top. Harry is a straight shooter, very helpful, and an expert in his field. A smaller selection than some, but he has a reason for every brand he carries. And finally one of my favorite things in his self built walk in Humidor. Always fresh cigars, and Very confortable to stand in while browsing. The place i bought my first humidor, the walk in is always hot and muggy. And still the cigars tended to be dried out. read more

Sir, this surely is NOT Beverly Hills and your shop in no way deserves $650/year on top of me purchasing these cigars. Came to Harry's Tobacco for the first time in September and became a member the first day. Have not gone to another shop since. Harry the owner is one of the best guys you could meet, and very knowledgeable about cigars. Always a great selection to choose from and Harrys own label of cigars are some the best out there.
