Does anybody ever wonder why the players from the Latin America's are better than Americans? They have baseball fields and live at them, day and night. We have baseball fields, yet they are locked for the local rec leagues to use. How are baseball players supposed to get better when the community park that has the fields are consistently locked? Who does that benefit? If it's for the community, open up the gates and let the kids play.. change the culture..

Little Tikes equipment, with a couple things to climb and slide, an animal matching game, tic-tac-toe, and a separate climbing structure. Two baby swings and two regular swings, and a truck. Very safe as it is on a cul-de-sac, and lots of grass to roam around too. Has a trash can but no bathroom since it is just a little neighborhood. We enjoyed stopping here! One swing needs some fixing but otherwise fun! Great reason to consider living in Champan's Crossing!

Good running trail…read more The trail here is great for walking or running. The first part of the trail makes a loop and it is pretty flat. If you feel adventurous and take the trail further then you will go behind a school and up a really fun hill to the library. It is about two miles if you go to the library and back to the parking lot. There are soccer nets on the field for the local kids soccer teams to practice and play. The local farmer's market can be found here on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7am to 1pm. I'm usually working during those hours so I haven't been able to check out their produce.

While this time of year may not be the best time to check it out, mid-spring offers a fantastic glimpse into what the park has to offer. Start planning now. Let's start with one of the most unique features I've seen in a Nashville-area park: a sensory garden. For that reason alone, I'm a fan of Grassland. The designers created a garden with plants selected to engage different, specific senses. The motif is Japanese but the result isn't tied to particular region. Truly, in each grouping, you're invited to smell, touch, etc. the particular plants and experience them in ways in which you don't do ordinarily. Once you've spent some time in the garden, look up: the park is huge. Take the time to take the trails, walk over the hobbit bridges and see what the space has to offer. It's tied to a school, so a playground is no surprise to be on grounds. The park boasts a jungle gym contraption as well as old-school swings. For the bigger kids (parents, you're included), there's also tennis courts, basketball courts and a baseball diamond (with batting cage). While the park is relatively flat, you're going to want to bring tennis shoes. You're not going to hike but if you explore the full tilt of the grounds, you're not going to be on paved ground. It's grass & dirt. You might get muddy. With so much (potentially) going on at the park, I'd advise coming on a Sunday. Since a school is on property, weekdays are likely to be packed. Saturdays will find families trying to make up for not coming during the week. Sundays, however, are quieter. And despite the size of the park, this is one to be experienced in relative quiet... without the hustle and bustle of overactive families. Parking's plentiful and very easy. From the photo on Yelp, I didn't expect Grassland to be as pretty as it is. It's a well-maintained and interesting green space. It's worth the drive from Nashville to visit. Just be sure to come on Sunday and to spend some quality time in the sensory garden.
