The doner sandwich was excellent, maybe the best I've had. Bread was crusty and fressssh. Veggies were crunchy. Tasty meat was freshly sliced off a doner bigger than yo mama! I ordered it from the street window. I don't speak German but the guy in line behind me translated. You will be asked which sauce, want veggies, and eat in or take out. I said "alles" to the first two and then said take out. He wrapped it in foiIt all worked out. And it was sooo delicious. Berlin is a large city with many districts. One of the most exciting and fascinating is Kreuzberg, southeast of the center. It is a gateway neighborhood for new immigrants and Turks. As you walk down any street, kebab shops and many other permutations scream at you. We decided to go to Hasir as a good friend from Turkey recommended it. It is an institution and a restaurant empire in the city. The location we went to is on a very busy street, and due to the temperature, we decided to brave it and sit on the sidewalk. It did not disappoint. Their menu is very large, but anything will be good. We ordered to start the tasty Cac⁄k, which is a dip of yogurt, Garlic Cucumber and oil and the ÛmamBay which is eggplant in paprika. Wow! For the main course, we ordered Adana Kebap, which is minced Meat on the skewer with Rice and Salad. Incredible. The Turkish bread was a must, and they kept it coming. The service was fast and attentive, and the whole experience was fun and felt authentic. I highly recommend this or any of their other locations. read more

I've lived in Germany in the past and fell in love with Döner. It was a Friday night ritual, Döner and fries, and a little tv to finish out the week. Now I bring students to Germany every couple years and Berlin is always on the list. On top of that Hasir Is always our first meal. The Good: this place is great. The wait staff is good, don't get too excited as it is typical of most German service. Everyone I encountered there was pleasant though. If I can give you some advice...don't go to Germany looking for American service. That's not how Germans operate. They are efficient and aren't there to ask you how your brother's best friend's roommate is doing. They won't bother you a dozen times about if the food is good enough. Once you accept that, you will have a much better experience. So back to the Good...the meat was fresh and delicious as well as all the veggies and sauces. My students, even the picky ones enjoyed their Döner, although some ended up preferring chicken Döner by the time we left Germany. The Bad: again, don't expect American style service and you'll be fine. The prices are on par with what you'd consider for a sit down Döner restaurant in Kreuzberg. A slice of Pizza is going to cost more than the $5 lunch specials at the pizza shop near my house in the middle of NY State. Finally: if you are in Berlin, do yourself a favor and go to Hasir. It was recommended to me by a Berliner and you can't go wrong with that. You won't be disappointed. read more

Came in and attempted to sit down to dine, service was non existent. Had to ask for a menu after several minutes of just sitting there (servers passing by all around me). Finally got up after no one acknowledged me to take my order. Ended up grabbing a doner kebab sandwich - made with bread not pita (not sure how to describe) to go for €4 from the front counter. Place seemed pretty packed so I assumed it had to be good, at least decent. Flavor was ok, nothing special. Wayyyy to much sauce slathered at the bottom, was like a pool. For the price I didn't expect much anyways, just a quick grab and go. Unfortunately I ended up with a stomach ache shortly after. Could have been anything but this is the first stomach issue I've had and I've been traveling and eating all over Europe for 2 months. Just sayin.... Wouldn't recommend. Very very very very busy and disorganized. Don't know which waiters are serving who. People from the outside line with the wraps come in and take seats but there are menus. This place was un. believable. Located just across the street from the Kreuzberg Museum, it was the perfect place to eat when we arrived early for a tour. I am SO happy we stumbled in here, seeing as it was the only place that had a menu in English outside (ugh, Americans.) It took a while to get a waiter to come to our table and take our order, but that didn't even matter after the first bite of food. We started off with a plate of hummus with some pita bread. The hummus was so delicious and fresh, and the bread was soft and warm and so incredibly good. I had the sis-kebap, juicy, flavorful lamb cooked on a skewer, it came with rice and a salad of lettuce, onion and tomato. I savored every bite. One of my friends had the Lamb Saute with Eggplant and Garlic Yogurt, also incredibly delicious. When she was done, we ordered more pita bread to dip in the leftover sauce. Overall, this was the best meal I had while in Berlin. Definitely a must-try if you're in the Kreuzberg area. read more

Funny to see so many 3's, I am picky and I have to give this a solid 4. We had a group of 16 people there in Berlin for a conference, 3 of us were picky Vegans and the rest "meatatarians". With the large group we let the waiter do some of the ordering for us for apps for the table and all were good. The large big flat breads were warm out the oven and low carb diet be damned I dipped into the various speads they brought and all were good. He recommended a mixed grill platter and nearly everything was great. The little lamb chops, man not sure what they marinated those in but I'd like the receipe!! Overall this place is great and not sure how you wouldn't see at least 4 stars. Those lamb chops were a 5+. Not sure when I would ever get back to Berlin but I'd find this place again. read more

Was there for a little over a day and managed to get sick, have a hat stolen from my hostel, and rack my nuts on a waist high pole walking in broad daylight. (true story) If there were ever a bright spot to my visit (besides my friend Svenja) it'd def be my meal here. Anyone who's never been to this country take it from me...forget the curry wursts and go for an Iskander kabob from Hasir. It's melt in your mouth meats and pieces of pita with a tomato and yogurt sauce combination that will make you forget anything bad that's going on in your life. I don't have an expert level of Turkish food, but after eating this I'm fearful that all others will be ruined. read more

These guys are very successful, but I feel like it is your normal Turkish street food served on a nicer platter and for much more money, especially if you're ordering meat. We got adana kebap and something else that had an eggplant sauce with similar meat (it wasn't apparent the meat would be almost identical until it showed up.) It came to about 30 euro which to me is unheard a) for Berlin and b) for this kind of food. I would sooner have gone to the burger version of the place across the street. The fact that you can charge this much in Kreuzberg (and no, of course it's not just this place) is a sign that the neighborhood is really becoming a little wealthier and less 'raw'. read more

I am 100% convinced that this cannot be the ONLY awesome Turkish spot in the hood, regardless of what Anthony Bourdain said on the Berlin episode of No Reservations. But alas, it was damn tasty. It came with a refreshing herbed garlicky yogurt sauce, a lot like mastomousir in Persian food. We asked for a side of spicy sauce (scharf sauce?) and the waiter brought out the weird gelatinous gooey ketchupy shit that all the other doner spots around here seem to have. Then our entrees. I can't remember the name of it, but I ordered the "Lamb Saute with Eggplant and Garlic Yogurt" and my boyfriend ordered the lamb kebabs with salad and rice. Mine was delicious but his won hands down. The cube lamb pieces were tender and full of flavor. My lamb bits were a little stringy, definitely not the choice cuts. The eggplant garlic puree was delicious! All in all, a pretty good and filling meal for about 32€. One word, but come here when you want a loooong and leeeeisurely dinner. We went on a really crowded night (Wednesday???) but our waiter was absent most of the time. All in all, we were out of there in two hours. However, we did notice couples ordering sandwiches from the front, then taking seats to eat? Will investigate... I'll update this as soon as I go back to try something else so I can compare. I'm craving Hasir as I write this review. It has been two days since my last döner at Hasir and I'm feeling a bit sad and lonely. All jokes aside, this place is worth the hype. Some pointers for the newbies: 1. When they ask you which sauce, tell them ALL THREE. The combination of all three sauces will make you understand why this place is so popular. 2. You can order the döner in pita or wrap format. 3. Just save yourself the hassle and tell them to put everything on it. Overall, Berlin is not known for its spices or delicacy in meals but Hasir has been able to bring a delightful take on Turkish food to the traditional culinary landscape of Berlin. Having been to Turkey recently, I have fallen in love with the food and can be quite picky as I now know how delicious it can be. Brought here by a Turkish colleague, I was impressed by the authenticity of the restaurant. Having options from around the country (something my colleague could point out to us, highlighting which region each platter was from) we enjoyed a wide variety of what the restaurant had to offer. The six of us ordered communally which ended up being a great option. We shared just about every appetizer (and were impressed by them all!) and ordered a variety of meals to share amongst us. This used to be the best döner I'd ever set my mouth on, but toward the end of last summer they made some changes. I don't especially mind that they raised the price from 2.50€ to 3€, but at the same time they changed their döner from half chicken half lamb, to pure lamb.. which just makes it taste fattier. The workers are sometimes curt, sometimes nice. It's for sure decent quality overall.. partly why they own half the block with their expansion restaurants. Really great Turkish kebabs. The platonic ideal of kebabs. Busy in the evenings, but friendly staff, a surprisingly large number of tables, and of course great food. The strongest items are adana kebab and the various grilled (american style shish kebab) meats. A decent selection of drinks and appetizers, and some authentic soups. The deserts are pretty weak, so I'd probably go elsewhere for that, although the Turkish Tea and Turkish Coffee are both excellent ways to end a meal. read more

Food tastes okay, but the waiters are rude.. This is a popular place, as it is one of the oldest "döner" places in Berlin and they have a great location, which provides them a constant flow of guests. However, not having fear for losing customers, the waiters are confident in yelling at you and being rude at you. I've been there several times, but the last time was very disturbing. We were 4 at the table. After being done with the food, we ordered 4 teas. The waiter put 2 on the table, turned around and asked the room who had 2 teas.. We said told him they're ours, and he put one more tea on the table and yelled again in the room who ordered the tea. We asked someone in this neighborhood (which is filled with Turkish restaurants) for a recommendation on where to get good Turkish food, and they told us to go to Hasir. A warning for vegetarians (like me) -- the entrees are all meat. However, the meze platters (cold and warm) are all veg. We got the cold meze platter and an order of fried artichokes stuffed with cheese, and it was plenty of food for my mom and me -- particularly with bread and Efes beer to go with it. My mom -- who has spent a lot of time in Turkey both working and on holiday -- declared that the food at Hasir was just as good as anything she'd had in Istanbul. Two thumbs up! read more

What a great place for Turkish food, with 4 locations in the city. Coming here though near the New Koln neighborhood was like a trip back to Istanbul. Really. Reminded me exactly of the good food I had there. Walked by the place and the aromas coming out were just divine. Immediately had to say to my wife, we are coming back here for lunch, and what a great choice that was. Awesome kabob and fantastic mezze. The hummus here is some of the best I have had. Excellent stewed veggies and delicious meats. Of course they also serve true traditional Turkish tea and of course Turkish coffee. Don't forget the apple tea as well. Right next to Safir Restaurant which I did a review for already. This place is a tiny bit more expensive than Safir - next door. The food is good. Nice portions. I ordered lamb kabob cubes grilled over a fire. Their lamb has some herbs and spices marinated. Although you see the herbs, the taste isn't overwhelming or anything. I also tried their tripe soup - "Flecksuppe" which was alright. It has a milky butterish broth with a hint of sourness. This place was pretty crowded unlike Safir's next door. So if you are in a hurry, just go to Safir because I think the food is just as good there and it is a bit brighter due to the lighter colored walls. read more

Be careful about what you pay! Food was ok, a bit pricey. Service was slow and unmotivated. When we asked for the bill, the waiter showed us the total on his invoice machine, which was higher than expected and demanded the payment right away. After we complained about the late, they told us that they were busy and the restaurant was full! But I think they want to keep the guests longer in there to prove their popularity or something...
