These SHAM ARTIST'S are the worst possible choice you could make for an attorney. READ ALL THEIR HORRIBLE REVIEWS and pick a REAL LAWYER!!! To this day, choosing HASTINGS &HASTINGS is one of my greatest regrets. They COMPLETLY botched my 8 year old son's motor vehicle accident case. I originally decided on Hastings & Hastings because I spoke to a young, articulate, compassionate lawyer who promised us the moon & stars! He also said that because my son was so young, they would lower their fee to 20% They did the BAIT AND SWITCH, and without even giving me any CHOICE, they took our young lawyer Shawn off of my son's case. It gave me this old horse about to be put out to pasture. Ken Burford, they neglected to inform me he was getting ready to retire. Then they said SHAWN did not document that he offered me the 20%, so they STILL charged us the 29%, which ended up being more because of a bunch of "FEES" that they tacked on. In their commercial, the head SHAM ARTIST says I can't imagine why anyone would pay 1/3 or more! What a complete lie! BECAUSE they charged MORE than that with all the extra fees. HASTINGS SAID it would never go to a jury & that it was their job to litigate a settlement without having to take it to court. WRONG!!! It dragged it on for YEARS, but we finally we got our day in court, with an actual jury trial. They did little research, other than try to get past medical records. The lawyer did not prepare either my son or I before the trial & gave even less help navigating through this very difficult process. While my son was testifying, I tried to help him remember something & mouthed the words Boys Scouts to him. Since we were not properly prepared, I had no idea I was not allowed to make any attempt to communicate with my son while he was on the stand because it could actually cause a mistrial. Worse of all, the HASTING "lawyer" told me to LIE to the judge & deny that I tried to communicate with my son. He said it was justified because my son didn't understand me anyway. He threatened me, saying they would not continue to represent me if there was a mistrial and that we would STILL have to pay for all of their "LEGAL SERVICES." In the end, we were not even awarded enough to cover my sons medical expenses. The defense attorney requested our HASTINGS lawyer to allow a video tape of a psychologists impressions of my sons. My attorney agreed to allow it, knowing that IF IT WAS NOT a POSITIVE ASSESSMENT, he would not be able to question the psychologist. He assumed that because my son is a typically happy, respectful kid , her assessment would be positive. HOWEVER on the day of the assessment, I had to take my son out of school during one of his friends' birthday party to go to the appointment, so he was very agitated about leaving school and missing the party, coupled with the fact that he did not want to talk to a stranger alone as I was not allowed to be with him in the room. It was a very NEGATIVE assessment & our HASTINGS lawyer did nothing to refute the inaccurate statements made by the psychologists who spent less than an hour with my son. I asked the HASTINGS lawyer for my sons medical records so I could review them before the trial. He refused & said no one on the jury would expect me to remember what happened in an accident 5 years ago, & said it would seem contrived if I remember too much detail. He said the best thing for me to say was I DON'T RECALL! Unfortunately, he thought he knew best and reluctantly took his advice. At the end of the trial, the defense lawyer stated. The most memorable thing about my testimony was how much I did not recall. The final absolute NEGLECTION OF REPRESENTATION was that the HASTINGS LAWYER actually PASSED ON HIS OPPERTUNITY TO MAKE ANY CLOSING ARGUMENTS. At a JURY TRIAL he he didn't even BOTHER to REFUTE anything or remind the jury of the lifelong injuries my son suffered. When I asked him why, he told me not to worry because in the end, my sons injuries would dictate the award. HE WAS WRONG!! My son has continuing lifelong medical issues, the stress of the whole trial had a horrible outcome exasperated my own medical issues and now I am disabled so my son does not even have group medical insurance. I tried to get other lawyers to help me with a lawsuit against Hastings & HASTINGS and they said that I had a great case BUT because there was no way for them to predict a payout, I would have to pay for their services upfront. My husband and I unfortunately have not had a good experience with Hastings and Hastings. The lack of communication on their part is disappointing! They fail to return calls. Its as though our case, as small as it may be, isn't a priority. Any information we get almost has to be dragged from them. Sean Hennick is a liar and not to be trusted. He's non professional in everyway. Told me to sue my insurance company for damages. Go to a chiropractor when I told him I had previous conditions that prevented me from doing so. Ge said just wait off on everything. I was told by the drivers insurance company. He just notified me he was going to back out of the case because I didn't go to the chiropractor and sue my insurance company. Not to be trusted. And I also questioned on things with April she wouldn't get back to me. I have text messages to show this. I called text messaged Sean with never a return call or text. Just awful!! I was told to do their job of getting records and police report and still got charged for them getting police report ect. I asked for itemized bills that they charged me for and have yet to receive. I had a medical lien and saw I could appeal the amount due to letter I received. I texted and left messages for Sean and April. Well Sean filled appeal denied for "lack of documentation." I was so upset how can a Laywer get a clients appeal get denied for lack of documentation? 2nd appeal I begged them please make sure you provide documentation this time again denied what for?? Yes LACK OF DOCUMENTATION" u can imagine how I felt. 3rd TIme same and than I fired them! I called company to inquire of Lien they said only need statement from Dr that I was seeing him before my accident which I did and GUESS WHAT?? I got that bill off my medical lien. Tho all this time I was getting charged interest!! All from a "so called attorney" that couldn't send documentation that was requested that I could do in one phone call. I also negotiated my medical lien which Shean the so-called attorney said was impossible because it was Medicare. I believe it was around $15,000 that I got a Medical Lien reduced. I was in a accident September 2019. Not my fault. My car was totalled and I was injured pretty bad. Lost my job. Had to have surgery and will still need to have another surgery. I hired Hastings and Hastings in November 2019. I made it PERFECTLY CLEAR THAT I WANTED TO BE INFORMED ON A REGULAR BASIS EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING REGARDING MY CASE. They really dropped the ball on my case. I never heard from anyone at the firm. So in February 2020 I started calling my assigned lawyer over and over and over. No response. He was now my 2nd lawyer at the firm. I'm well aware that COVID happened and things were very difficult and stressful in the world. Finally I was able to get some kind of update from him. The update was that the Insurance company was not going to pay anything. And said that he felt that we should go to court. That was March 2021. I told him I didn't understand why the insurance company refused to pay? The other driver received the TICKET. The police officer had on a body cam and gave my lawyer a copy of the video. The officer clearly states that it was DEFINITELY the other drivers fault. The entire 7 months I was laid up recovering from this accident I had absolutely no income and no way to pay for my expenses. My medical bills so far are over $165,000. That was March 2021. In September 2021 I was informed that my lawyer was leaving the practice and I would here from my new lawyer within a week. After waiting for the new lawyer to call me. What a joke. I finally called him. So now he is my 3rd lawyer. Two and a half weeks later I received an email saying that he was retirering in 3 days. It is now the end of November 2021. Two years since my accident. I have had 4 lawyers. And as of November 19th It seems I have no one from Hastings and Hastings representing me. Horrible 'counseling' - after 2 years Felony DUI at fault case we ended up with the same settlement Insurance Company was offering to begin with. Avoid.. We got in a car accident at the end of March and went to them the next day. They took our case, a very nice lawyer Norma, which, two months after our case had sharted, left the firm and we were transfered to another lawyer and parallegal. The new parallegal would never answer our calls. We could call 3 times a day for 2 days in a row and would never ger a call back until we called again a few days later. They kept giving us deadlines of "your case will be solved in a month" every time we called and of course it took from the end of March until the end of December to get our money. It was 3 of us that were in a 2013, 6 month old car, we for T-boned and the car was totaled. After the chiropractor bill, and of course the firm's money, we only got less than 2,000 each. Sean is probably the WORST lawyer I have come in contact with, his assistant is rude and very unprofessional, Sean is to much of a big shot to call you back (my grandma hs yet to speak with him). My husband grandmother and children were in an accident in March and were done with Dr visits in Aug and we still have YET to close up this case and here we are at the END of December. His assistant called my grandmother a liar on many occasions she and Sean wanted to make it seem as if my 80 year old grandmother who just had a mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer was incompetent and she has yet to even talk numbers with them and here we are in December. This place is a sham, they are current day ambulance chasers and I wouldn't reccomend them to represent my dog. Please be leery of these crooks because that's what they seem to be, guess they specialize in screwing you over. Will be filing a complaint with the BBB and whoever's else and I will give a review on all platforms. UPDATE: Mr Hanity felt the need to call my husband and threaten to sue me for defamation because of this review. They were both very up front and honest with me when I first walked into their office after my car accident. The party that hit me had the bare minimum state required liability insurance and the outlook didn't look very good with regards to getting any compensation for my medical bills. Not only did they get the other parties insurance to pay me on time for my car that was totaled, they also got me a fair amount for extra money that I spent on medical bills, etc. I would recommend this office to anyone seeking legal help. I have had to do all the leg work on my case. It started when I had to ask them to get the doctors to work without pay until my case got settled. This didn't happen and I had to pay everything up front. I saw the attorney ONCE, upon my initial consultation and the paralegal has contacted me the rest of the time. I started off with Jeffery Livers who then was replaced by Sean Hennick due to having issues with Jeffery never following up and I was notified he was no longer with the company. After getting my case resolved and was told all medical bills were paid, I now have over 30 separate negative blemishes on my credit from this accident that were turned into creditors. I've tried over and over to get a hold of Sean Hennick and his assistant Larisa Garcia, but get no response.
