Was supposed to come with five chicken strips (came with more than five), also got two sides, a biscuit and a drink. Roughly the same price as Bojangles but with more food. I heard about Hathaway's years ago and we just finished at the farmers market and my wife said, "Do you want to go get a bucket of chicken and I remembered Hathaway's. We all got excited to have fired chicken and biscuits for Sunday lunch. As hungry as I was, my wife talked me out of the 18 piece dinner. We got 13 pieces with 8 biscuits and 3 sides- Mac n cheese, Cole slaw and potato salad. It took about 4 minutes for them to get our food together and we were out! The girl who handed me my food chased me down in the parking lot for the container of Mac n cheese: much appreciated! Headed back to the house on a short ride to enjoy our meal....... Hathaways never disappoints. It's a staple in Monroe and if you want some chicken and sides you can't beat it. The chicken tenders are large and there are plenty of choices for sides. You can get tea in gallons and dressings like ranch which for my family is a must. It's a great place to feed a lot of folks because they can handle large orders easily and they have a great system for processing them. Hathaways Chicken-n-Biscuits is Southern comfort food personified. This has to be a well known go-to spot in Monroe because the patrons never stopped coming. After eating there I completely understand why!! Upon entry you're so warmly greeted. I was easily recognized as a first timer. The cashier was kind enough to walk me through the options and recommend I get the Businessman...and I did. I truly felt like my meal was prepared with lots of love and care. The tea and lemonade were sweet...get extra ice. The fried chicken was seasoned well and fried extra crispy. The sides were so delicious. The green beans had a good bite to them and not soft and mushy as I've experienced at other restaurants. And the best part is all this for less than $10. That's a steal! I may have been recognized as a first timer but it surely won't be my last time. If in the Monroe area stop in for good southern hospitality and great food. read more

Hands down, the best fried chicken in Monroe and probably Union County as a whole. We needed some takeout after a busy day, so we decided to get some Hathaway's chicken to take home. Our past experiences have been fabulous; we were hooked after trying their biscuits for the first time. One of the staff members told us that they grate frozen butter into the biscuit dough. The chicken crust tastes like fatback. It's crispy and full of flavor, while the chicken is juicy. We also love their potato wedges since they're crispy. Additionally, we tried some of their slaw this time and it has a great texture. The experience we had tonight was no different than any of our past experiences, even despite a 45 minute drive home. We were feeding 50 hungry college lacrosse players from Lakeland Florida who were eating and then leaving for a 10 hour bus ride home. First of all Brian was very nice to work with. His food was excellent and was a good portion to keep them satisfied all the way home. The chicken tenders were hot and crispy and the green beans were what you would expect from. NC! Very good! I tried it off strength of reviews. I ordered 3 wings n potato wedges. Wouldn't revisit. Chicken wasn't seasoned well. It needed salt bad. The potato wedges are home made but again no seasoning. I lived here for almost 7 years before I tried Hathaway's and I regret it! The restaurant is nothing fancy, but the chicken and the potato wedges more than make up for anything missing in ambience. Pricewise, they are very reasonable and the staff is pleasant. I personally always get the chicken strips because they are always well cooked and delicious, but I have had the fried chicken pieces and it is also very good! Disappointed to find out the Dining room closes at 7pm while the restaurant was open until 8. Staff had a bit of an attitude with customers. you forget to give a customer (someone else ) dessert they ordered and paid for and them tell its there fault after they had to drive all the back to the restaurant to pick it up on a take out order. This place is great and has good fried chicken. It's real southern cuisine that taste wonderful and it's at a good price. I have had the pleasure of tasting their catering several times and stopping by for lunch. The chicken is perfectly fried, the Biscuits are moist and freshly made, the coleslaw was good, and the Mac and cheese is gooey. The only thing I didn't like was the green beans. Me and a group of friends came to eat earlier in the afternoon we had been shopping and wanted something quick to stop and eat. Our table was given a plate of food which wasn't ours and was not preferred at our table. My friends and I have never experienced any type of service like this many other times that we have come to eat before. Some of my friends which had never been to this restaurant and was unsure of what they had ordered would look like took the plate and began to eat only to be approached by the waitress who gave us the wrong plate of food in which we were told that "This plate of food was not yours and you will be getting charged" after the comment was made not only did we apologize but she told us that next time " we needed to know better and be honest" . The woman at the register who had rung up our order then came back to give another customer their food and as she walked by me and my friends table giving us the meanest stare she mumbled under her breath "Dishonest". Not only is this what we experienced but then learned that another person had been written down on our ticket who was not in our party and then when walking up to pay the woman told us that "we should leave a tip" me and my friends did not as not only did they do this to us while we were only trying to enjoy our lunch but we're talking about us at the register in front of many other customers. read more

The mac and biscuits taste like what Maw-Maw used to make, the potato wedges were tasty, and the chicken was perfectly breaded and fried. Good breading-to-chicken ratio. Hathaway's is an amazing business, with friendly staff and DELICIOUS food. Everything I have tried there has been amazing with the exception of the cake. It was really dry and when I say dry I'm talk California wildfire dry. But the rest is amazing the Mac and cheese being my favorite. It gives southern grandma's a run for their money.
