The downstairs pool with the sunroof was small, yet magically illuminated in the dead of winter. The front desk was very efficient and helpful in setting up sleigh rides and in terms of advice on whether it was a good day to ski vs sled down Schatzalp. We enjoyed the Christmas Eve caroling and outdoor snow bar along with traditional wieners and gluwein all near a nice bonfire.

My room was on the first floor above the restaurant area and I heard every single person talking and slamming their room doors all night and morning. It was extremely loud and disrupting. The restaurant had very good food, but as usual I wasn't impressed with the typical European breakfast that lacked any hot foods. There is a small lot across from the hotel if you drove here.

Located right across from the Parsenn ski base area in the heart of "downtown" Davos (Dorf side of town), and was an easy walk for us back to our room at the Intercontinental Hotel. This location provides a little bit of authentic Swiss charm in a town of mostly more recent-contemporary buildings. We loved their après-ski patio for drinks on the hotel front deck for people watching on a main street of Davos, patio heaters and good upbeat (mostly American hits) music. We got to see the same lovely bartender each time, who was one of the nicest people we met on our entire trip. Try the gluwein - a hot wine with cinnamon added, almost like a warmed sangria served in a mug. Very popular in Davos (and Zurich) in the winter, and the most affordable adult beverage you'll find around. This is also almost next door to the Winter Market, when that is happening for a couple days each year. After a few days of just drinks on the patio, we finally had dinner inside the hotel at the Parsenn Stübli (Restaurant). The restaurant was mostly cozy with great service and tasty food, but I think they could easily make it even more interesting with a little more decor and warmer/dimmer lighting. Although we were in the front room by the front door, so maybe there is more ambiance in the back room, like in the photos. The ladies serving us wore traditional bar-wench dresses. The veal and mushrooms with the area-famous potato cakes like hash-browns was delicious. Cash only on the patio. ATM across the street. The inside restaurant will accept credit cards. The Tyrolean ravioli filled with spinach and creamed root vegetables were a wonderful take on this internationally popular style of food-- not only the Italian but Ukrainian and Russian kitchens have their kind of dumpling as well as the Asian styles-- this was unique, fresh and delicious. Followed up by a local hirsch steak (venison) crusted in pepper, with a tasty and not overly thick chanterelle cream sauce, and serviettenknödel with prune filling. A fabulous local meat and lovingly prepared, home cooking at its best. We decided, after seeing the tasty sweets ordered by our neighbors to go for it whole hog and order marillenknödel, and after 20 minutes (home made means made to order, which makes the dishes lovely and fresh), we received two round balls which burst with fresh fruit goodness when we cut them open. Even though the marillen were actually zwetschgen, which made our hosts laugh and tease the chef, we finished everything with a happy smile. Highly recommended, especially after a day hike up and down the waterfall gorge in nearby Schnann!
