Dinner in NYC with my colleagues!
    Veronica G.

One of my colleagues brought me here while on a business trip in New York City. I love the authentic feel of this restaurant! The beautiful murals inside give the space and artsy and cultural flair. I am not too familiar with Cuban food, but everything my colleagues ordered for our shared meal was delicious! The cocktails were very good ! Our server went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and that we understood the items on the menu and what the restaurant had to offer. Now I'm a fan of Cuban food!

Have ordered take-out and have been dine-in and both time the food has been good and the portion has been large. The service is quick and they have music towards the evening which is nice to make the ambiance more lively. Depending on what you get, you might go home with leftovers.

Wow, just some of the driest chicken I've ever had. Even came out cold if that's possible.

I came here for dinner with a small group of friends. The interior is lovely and feels light and airy, with plenty of space. There were also pretty paintings on the wall. There was Soursop Shake on the menu, which I always have to get because it's a rare find. The beverage was delightfully thick, creamy smooth, refreshing, with just the right amount of sweetness. Decided to share the Picadera Havana Heights, which consisted of steak, pork chop, shrimp, yuca fries, as well as tostones. This was only $38 and more than enough for 2 people. The food came on a large platter and looked quite impressive. The steak was probably my favorite meat, as it was wonderfully tender, and well seasoned, with nice char grill marks. I also enjoyed the pork chop, which was full of flavor and succulent, however there was not enough of it. The shrimp was also tasty and juicy. I found the chicken to be dry and bland though. The yuca fries were perfectly crunchy. The tostones were satisfyingly crispy and flavorful. Service was decent. I'm not sure I would return because there are so many other places in the area I would like to try.

The food is out of this world delicious! The service is warm and welcoming. With an upbeat ambiance! Just so you know the appetizers are FAMILY SIZE! The black bean soup can easily feed a family! We enjoy our meal and have want to get back the yuka fries are DELICIOUS!

My Sister and I connected in NYC and hit up Havana Heights which is a Cuban Restaurant in Washington Heights near Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. This was our first item here and the waitstaff was really helpful with recommendations. We had some Mojitos with coconut and these were the BEST Mojito's that I have ever had. I would recommend this restaurant for the Mojitos alone. Now for the food. I got the Tour of Havana which had roast pork, braised beef and fried chicken. The winner in this combo was the roast pork which was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The others were just ok. I had a side of the rice and black beans and that was great. My sister had the steak and shrimp (Bistec and Camarones) which she really enjoyed. We shared a side of fried plantains and they were great. For dessert we shared some red velvet cake that was really good....and another round of Mojitos :-) The interior of the restaurant was really nice with some awesome artwork on the walls. It also had a really cool bar area. From the services, to the drinks, to the food to the dessert, our expectations were exceeded. Overall I would highly recommend Havana Heights. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.

I went to Havana with my friend who was visibly from the military last night. It was a great place the food was very good. The waitress brought me extra lime for my water which is sweet. The prices are also very decent.

Came here for an early dinner on a Friday night. The place was pretty empty when I got there and started filing up as time passed. Since there weren't many people when I arrived, staff weren't very attentive to the entrance and I was unsure on who to check in with. The food was decent and they have lots of different options.

Food was decent, we found the platter of grilled meats enjoyable and reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. We got the small one for two people and it could really feed 3-4. There is plentiful outdoor dining, which was the selling point for us. Our waitress Michell was very nice. Some of the staff doesn't speak English so it was a great opportunity to practice my Duolingo skills lol. Wheelchair access: Flat entry from the street. There are two stalls in the bathroom, one of which has a grab bar but is not big enough to actually fit a wheelchair.

The location is close to the restaurant with a lot of space. My party was big and we ordered a lot of food and drinks, and the price was reasonable for the amount of food we get. The service was good, although our waitress could not answer a lot of the questions about the food other than what's already stated on the menu. I got the pernilito with yuca fries and I liked that the meat was tender, although I wish it was more flavorful. Some of my friends weren't so lucky and their meat came out very dry. It was a good hang out spot with decent food and I would not mind coming back.

Lively place with lovely music. Delicious food with excellent pricing. Of note, alcohol is strong! Was told happy hours lasts till 7pm Mon-Fri (with ~$6-7 sangria and margarita) so will definitely be back on a weekday.

Came in for a quick bite and ended up getting the ropa vieja w/white rice and beans and Mangu "con los 4 golpes" which is smashed plantains with eggs, friend cheese, salami and longaniza. All the food was delicious and service was on point. Very clean establishment and fun and cool decor. A must visit spot!

Walked into Margon Restaurant in Midtown and instantly felt like I found one of NYC's secret cheat codes. Small space, big flavors, zero nonsense. The kind of place where you're elbow-to-elbow with strangers but everyone's united by one thing... serious hunger. Ordered the Cuban sandwich -- pressed, crispy, loaded with roast pork, glazed ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard. One bite in and I stopped talking... which never happens. This thing didn't just deliver... it showed up early and over-prepared. Then came La Bandera Dominicana Braised beef swimming in savory gravy, yellow rice piled like a mountain, black beans doing their thing, and sweet maduros sitting on top like the victory flag. Simple. Comforting. Dangerous... because now I want it every week. Place gets busy, gets loud, gets chaotic... but it moves like a well-oiled machine. Years of experience and zero attitude. Just good people making great food. In a neighborhood full of tourist traps, this hole-in-the-wall is throwing haymakers. Sometimes the best escape in NYC isn't a rooftop... It's a Cuban sandwich and a plastic tray. And honestly... I'd pick that every time. #nycfood #hiddennyc #midtowneats

Everyone agreed with my suggestion to eat Latin American food and we made a reservation at Buena Vista, not far away from our hotel and also not far from the theater. We came over a bit early, around 5:15 and were immediately seated. We were immediately impressed by the business model. It is a melange of Latin American and Iberian faire with exquisite curation. Their cocktails were absolutely delightful, I had a Pantalones en Fuego, others had an exquisite margarita with passion fruit flavor and a Daiquirí de Fresa, just amazing. Then we ordered interminable Hors d'oeuvres. Their ham croquetas and mushroom croquetas were the rage, as well as the tostoncillos ibéricos and ceviche limeño, The main courses followed, a paella valenciana for two, the magret de pato, a delicious duck dish, and a grilled Argentine parrilla. Not bad for four people. Dessert included churros and tres leches. And of course, a bottle of a great Verdejo. Service was just flawless. We had several staff members all contributing to making our Father's Day evening special. All around us it was festive, with plenty of well dressed Spanish speakers in several tables, and the accents of a half a dozen Spanish speaking countries. Plenty of gringoes too. A beautiful collection of diversity. We left happy, ready to see "Oh Mary" and wanting to return

I had the steak (I prefer my steak more on the well side) and the chef managed to keep it positively tender and juicy. Perched on top of a few slices of fried casava slices and a small side salad. You can never leave without trying the flan it's one of the best I have ever had. Service was quick and food was bought to us piping hot. The only down side is they oddly don't make pina coladas (it's the only thing I drink) and the restaurant was a bit too cold but other than that it was a lovely birthday dinner for my friend. Buena Vista is small and popular so I strongly suggest you make reservations if you plan on eating here.

Here you can find great food at a great value in NYC. I walked in and looked over what they had left about an hour before closing and tried their pork chops in red sauce for the first time. I usually get the pork chops with onions and peppers, but I'm glad I had these pork chops in the red tomato based sauce over yellow rice and black beans, with mixed vegetables. Twenty bucks gets you all this in a twin pork chop meal and a bottle of water. Ask for some of the red sauce gravy poured over the chops and rice. The pork chops; though sitting in that red sauce, still have caramelized edges offering that texture your palate will enjoy along with that savory red sauce. The sauce is so good and has a touch of tanginess and bouquet that enhances the whole experience. I even got another pork chop on top, given it was so good. The rice is cooked properly and only the mixed vegetables, particularly the zucchini, at the end of the day were slightly overdone; though, the broccoli was still just right. The black beans were perfect. All the Sophie's are clean from my experience; though, I have never been in their restrooms. You can dine here with confidence and the people working at this Sophie's were very nice and welcoming.
