OMG , Hawaiian Airlines used to be a great way to fly! Then the Alaska merge .... Last year we were in Hawaii and we were flying First class Our Bag was 53 lbs. First class weight limit was 70 lbs . they ahuffled us from line to line to line 6 moves .... total time 1hr and 56 mins . only to be tokd to go back to the original line.... I did ask for a supervisor! She gave me A bunch of BS. This year we waited in The TSA line About 30 mins . well you guesses it ... we were told to get out of the line we are Not TSA approved, We went over to another line Waited Another 20+Mins. Only to be told When they merged It Dumped all the information stored!!! After a few mins the TSA numbers are back and printed correctly on our Boarding pass ... we were told to go back and get into the 30+ min TSA line!! my suggestion to anyone flying avoid Hawaiian or Alaskan airline for a few years until they get their crap together awful experience read more

A small but comfortable space while waiting for your boarding time. Pretty limited as far as things to drink and snacks...they only have those small party mix bags. One complaint I have is it's irritating that they don't have the biscoff cookies in this lounge. They really should have both the snack mix and the cookies. Whenever flying out I always stop in here to fill up my water bottle and grab snack mix. The lounge is also close to all the gates so very convenient. read more

10/31/24 Away we go! One thing I noticed, going to & coming from, the flight attendant were NOT assisting passengers with expediting the boarding or deplaning process. S few back, they have. I noticed them being less attentive, their facial expressions not as giving of the Aloha "spirit" I have come to know for the past few years. This has given me pause. Perhaps it is time to consider other options in the future, perhaps. It has been a pleasure but what I have experienced as of late--I hope is just a fluke of one off? Something to think about. Wow! I was pleasantly surprised today. Actually I'm still in shock. I was literally dreading flying from Los Angeles, Ca to Lihue today. We had the MOST MISERABLE experience on American Airlines (NEVER FLYING WITH THEM AGAIN) this past April that I still have PTSD. Four years ago we flew Hawaiian Airlines and had an experience that left a sour taste in our mouths as well. With all of this being said, we will absolutely be flying Hawaiian Airlines going forward. And here is why. Everything was easy. Purchasing the tickets, going through the airport, checking in, and even getting upgraded seats. Then, we ALL received a breakfast sandwich that had turkey sausage, cheese, and egg on an English Muffin. It was piping hot when we got it. How much were we all charged for said sandwich. ZERO!! NADA!! NIL!! You get the picture. And as if that wasn't enough, we also got a complimentary cup of Rum Punch. All we've been given on flights these past 5 years on every other airline is brown crackers or dry pretzels. A huge shout-out to the employees as well. The woman taking luggage in the morning at terminal 6 was so friendly and exceptional. A family rolled up. Their teen-age daughter's suitcase was 2 pounds over. She gave them a complimentary pass and just asked that they address the situation on their next flight so they don't get charged. And she was so nice about it. There was a very nice young man at the desk in LA at gate 63B who helped us with a smile. The flight attendant named Dina on Flight HA 63 was the most efficient, kindest person you'll probably ever meet. Most of the employees were super friendly and hard-working. The cleaning crew was already in action as we disembarked. The plane was super clean. Kudos to Hawaiian Air for turning it around. You really made our day. We will be flying with you every year as long as this caliber of service that we received today continues. read more

We were traveling with two children on non-stop flight 68from Lihue to Oakland on Oct 7th. It was delayed by over 6.5 hours due to mechanical issues. We should have arrived at 9:25pm on the 7th, but didn't get home until 5:30am on the 8th, after having to stop in Honolulu. We were never offered the option of a hotel and a flight the next day as is the law for overnight delays. We missed school and work and basically just got told "sorry". Absolutely unacceptable. I gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised by Hawaiian Airlines!! First of all, I was able to catch a direct, nonstop flight round trip from Oakland to Lihue Airport on Kauai Island. The flight crew was great!! Way better than other airlines I've been on. Complimentary meals and also a complimentary Rum Punch. Plus they give you some chocolate later in the flight also. They seemed like they enjoyed what they were doing. There were no TVs on this flight, but you can download the app and watch stuff on your tablet or phone. I usually just listens to music and sleep anyways, the seats were comfortable. I definitely got the Hawaiian vibe on this flight, both coming and going, an enjoyable experience!! read more

The worst of the worst of the worst. Alaska Airlines please, please, dump your brain dead customer service center in the Philippines inherited from the inept IT/Reservation folks that helped bankrupt Hawaiian Airlines. Its always been bad, but this was exceptional. I was on hold for longer than it takes to fly round trip from Lihue to Honolulu to buy a round trip ticket using the so called Islander discount code, which is another joke. A supervisor called "Suzy," doubt that's her real name, finally picked up after an hour on hold to tell me she couldn't sell me a $125 ticket using the code??? Say what???? I want to send a shout out to Natalie, a Hawaiian Airline Employee. We are returning home and we were a little turned around at the Hawaiian Airlines area of the Airport. She actually asked us if we needed help , with a smile ! We said yes please! She helped us weigh the bags , get the proper tags and printed boarding passes for us. She was patient and kind . A wonderful ambassador of Hawaiian Airlines and a nice person all around. She then handed us off to the agriculture attendants and even mapped out where we were to go After that. Hands down... my favorite HA employees seem to work here in LIH. The employees remember my name (or at least my face), are always so courteous, efficient and kind. Do NOT fly Hawaiian Airlines! I didn't know how long it would take to get from Kekaha to the airport so I booked the later flight just in case- plus I was told that they did away with the change fees. Long story short, I get to the airport early and tried getting on an earlier flight. The Hawaiian Airlines employee tells me that there's a fee to change from the time that I'm supposed to fly to an earlier flight- literally only an hour earlier. At first she said like $10, and then "looks it up" and determines that it's actually $86 more. WTH! The flight that I booked cost more than this earlier time but I was still being charged $86. I told her "I thought Hawaiian Airlines did away with the fee?" And she replied that they did away with it but they're charging the airfare difference.. Ummmm, my flight was more expensive than the earlier flight. Straight up poor customer service! Keep in mind that there's a ton of seats available for the earlier flight.. absolutely nonsense! No wonder people are starting to fly on other airlines! read more

I had a few hours to kill before the girlfriend's flight arrived from Los Angeles so this Hawaiian Airlines Premier Club is a comfortable enough place to wait. There's a decent amount of seating but it's very small by any standard. There are no windows and there's only coffee, tea, and a soda fountain machine. There is decent Wi-Fi and a virtually Unlimited Supply of the Hawaiian Airlines snack packs. There are no bathrooms in this Lounge either. However, it is definitely better than waiting in the crowded terminal by your gate. The lounge is conveniently located in very close proximity to the Hawaiian Airlines gates. They also provide the daily newspaper and there are a couple of ottomans so I did get comfy enough to take a short nap while waiting. Definitely better than nothing but not by much. read more

One of the upsides is that there's AC and it was literally next to our gate which made it very convenient. Hawaiian had a mechanical problem with plane. We waited 6 hours for them to fix it. That was fine. Better safe than sorry. I was all ready worried because you never know if it was fixed right and being over the ocean and finding out they made a mistake was very scary. We went on our flight. No food on flight and limited drinks. 5 hours and no real food. We arrived too late for our connecting flight to Kauai. Hawaii put us up in an airport hotel. I am appreciative it I almost lost my reservation for original hotel on Kauai. Hawaiian had open first class seats on way home to Ontario. We should have been compensated for the inconvenience of missing our connecting flight and almost losing our hotel reservations. Instead they sold them. I paid for extra comfort seats. Hawaiian did not treat us well for the extra money we paid. I would never recommend them. American Airlines is who I will use in future. Hawaiian just lost a customer. read more

I had a wonderful experience flying with Hawaiian Airlines. The seats are very comfortable and plush. The edges of the headrest can be slightly bent forwards and the chairs recline slightly. This airlines does NOT have TV's on the seats. You must download the Hawaiian Airlines app and bring headphones to have entertainment. They have several movies and TV shows to select from. We were served a breakfast sandwich with snack mix, 1 round of drink service (your choice of complimentary rum punch, soda, water, coffee, or tea), 1 round of drink service with only water, and a chocolate chip cookie. Additionally, they provide an individually wrapped sanitizer towelette when boarding the plane. I used this on my hands and to wipe down my seat. The flight attendants were extremely kind and accommodating throughout the entire flight. The staff at LAX was extremely kind and helpful. The same cannot be said for the staff at Lihue Airport. They were on edge and seemingly irritated with everyone. They were constantly shouting (yelling where to exit, although we were already exiting; yelling when to cross the crosswalk; etc). Several people made comments about their aggressive and rude demeanor. With that being said, I am still going to give Hawaiian Airlines a 5 star review because my LAX and in flight experience was wonderful. To avoid the Hawaii quarantine, you must go to Travel.Hawaii.gov and fill out the questionnaire/upload a photo of your vaccination card (to the section saying that you want to avoid quarantine). This will generate a QR code. Once you are at your gate, they will form a line, scan your QR code/compare your ID, and give you a wristband. Once you land in Hawaii, they will make sure you have a wristband and pass you along to get your baggage and go on your way. read more

If you're looking for a direct flight between the Hawaiian islands, this is your airline. Southwest now flies in Hawaii too, but most flights have a layover in Honolulu which at least doubles the length of the flight. Their flights were slightly cheaper though. It was our first time flying Hawaiian and we had a great experience. Even though it's a very short flight, they give you a nice Hawaiian POG (pineapple, orange, guava) juice. Everyone was very friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to fly with them again. read more

An airport lounge for loyal Hawaiian Airlines customers! The Island of Kauai (the 4th largest of the eight Hawaiian islands) is also known as The Garden Isle because it is very green and lush from its vegetation. It also is known for one of the wettest spots in the world (Mount Waialeale) due to the heavy rainfall. Many visitors flock to Kauai to relax and get away from urban life. It's a pleasant surprise to find this cozy lounge before Gates 5 and 6 at the Lihue Airport! I am usually running to catch a connecting flight to the mainland, so I don't really have time to enjoy this oasis. This time, I spent a few minutes, sitting on a plush, swivel chair and having a beverage and a snack! Thanks to Hawaiian Airlines for this benefit! We had a flight from Sacramento to Lihue. The flight attendants were great. They treated us really well. I really wanted to write this review to shout out to the plane cleaning staff. So like an idiot I forgot my Nintendo Switch on the plane!!! I slipped it into the pocket but thought I took it out. I was traveling with my 3 kids so things were kinda crazy. Anyways I thought it was gone for good. Something like that I thought for sure the staff just pockets for an automatic Christmas/birthday gift for their kids. I realized it was gone when we got to the hotel and I was trying to not have it ruin the whole trip but I was finding it to be tough. We quickly filed a claim on the website even though I was pretty sure no one would turn it in. They actually responded same day with a local number to call. We called the number and someone picked up right away. I told her that I left a Nintendo Switch on the flight from Sacramento. She said "yes we have it here. You can pick it up at baggage claim B". We recently did a first class trip between Kauai to Oahu and back. Didn't care much for it. I rather sit in the back area, as the seats in First class is uncomfortable and my butt actually got sore. Service was nothing different. On another note, we did a round trip to Las Vegas in First Class. Service was exceptional, I was impressed. They were on it. Food was good. Snacks were ok, macadamia nuts and Maui kettle style potato chips. Beverages. They offer you a tablet for movies with earphones. Inspected the pillow and blanket, clean. Seats, you can actually recline where you can actually lay flat. Love those. There is 18 First Class seats. We were in 1A and 1B. The best seats on the plane. And closest to the restroom, as only rows 1 through 3 (and flight crew) have access to it. Flying first class makes the time go by faster, especially if it's a long flight. read more

Great first flight experience after the longest time. We haven't flown since January 2020 and it was wonderful to be able to travel again. Our first trip was an extended weekend to Kauai and Hawaiian Airlines was wonderful. They were easy to book, thoughtful with leaving the third seat open to give us extra space for our 4 month old and were very helpful navigating the new traveling experience as parents. We flew Hawaiian from the Big Island to Kauai and back and found the experience pleasant though a little retro. They still had flight attendants do the safety instruction. The planes were older and smaller than the other airlines we flew. It just reminded me of how air travel used to be.
