Service was good and friendly but food was OKAY at best. The restaurant was so quiet so that made for an awkward dinner with just sounds of my husband and I talking. Probably wouldn't go here again for the food. But again, the server was great!

I was in the area and needed a quick meal so I stopped here after reading all the positive reviews. Usually, I get specialty rolls but I was craving a California and spicy Tuna. I placed my order over the phone and it was ready when I came to pick it up. Service was friendly but sushi was just ok. The California roll tasted different than usual and had no flavor. Spicy tuna roll was standard. This spot does the job but there's nothing special.

Nice sushi spot in the Safeway plaza in HMB. Very fresh sushi - highly recommend the Cabrillo Hwy roll. The bento boxes are a great deal. Skip the takoyaki; looks better than it tastes. Small seating area but plenty of room for lunch in a Tuesday.

Super fresh and flavorful. After reviewing all the sushi places in the area- this one had the best reviews and did not disappoint. The Half Moon Bay and Main Street rolls were excellent! The staff was easy going and there was no rush. Can't wait to make it back down here to try other rolls!

never a philly roll/sour cream in sush fan, but best Philly road I've ever had. they even have the best sour cream for this.

let me start off by saying, my wife is very picky when it comes to sushi/sashimi! we've been to many sushi/sashimi places include very high end ones. that said, we both agreed that the sashimi here is arguably the freshest/tastiest she's ever had here in the Bay Area!! inside the plaza where safeway/cvs/mcdonald are, most of their business is for take out i think... But don't be fooled by the location/look from outside or inside, i think they actually hired actual highly experienced japanese chef/cooks making the rolls/sashimi and they use the right ingredients. they use real sushi rice and the rolls are rightfully tightly made. Also, Even though I'm usually not a fan of Philly Rolls (since i don't believe cream cheese and sushi should go together), but my wife is so I ordered it anyway. it's THE BEST Philly Roll I've ever had, and i think it has something to do with the cream cheese they used, it's simply the best. the server (i think called "boss" base on my receipt) is one of the most enthusiastic, friendly, helpful server i've ever met! the 4.7 yelp rating is definitely legit, if not too low! if I have to nitpick, they didn't have the ankimo/Monk fish liver that i saw in another review. but even then, the server tried his best to make it happen, but confirmed by the kitchen that they have ran out. also the wasabi doesn't look the freshest, maybe from the freezer, but i'm not wasabi expert so can be easily ignored

This little location offers BIG portions of fresh fish! I usually get lunch to go yet seating is also available inside. VERY good sushi with beautiful presentation as well as portions! This hand roll is full of delicious hamachi!!The staff is friendly & inviting too!

Cozy hole in the wall sushi spot in Half Moon Bay. Saw that it was one of the highest rated in the area so decided to stop by after dinner on a weekend. Got seated immediately and the waitress took our order. Almost everything was really fresh and of very high quality. The one let down was the Shiro Maguro (White Tuna), also known as Albacore. It had been frozen and re-thawed, and you could taste the difference. They also have Escolar here (also known as Waloo, Walu or Butterfish), which is infamous for the gastric difficulties that it can cause when consumed in large quantities (greater than 6 oz). I won't go into details here but those who are curious can ask ChatGPT. It is quite delicious though and two pieces of Nigiri is a completely safe portion. Also, the monkfish liver appetizer was not as expected, it seemed as if the liver had been blended into a pate and then compressed into a sausage shape. However, I won't fault them for this as it seems like many other sushi restaurants do the same. Getting real, whole monkfish liver seems like something you should expect only of the highest-quality restaurants. They don't have the most expansive nigiri menu but definitely have all of the basics and then some. Strongly recommend to folks in Half Moon Bay craving sushi!

We came here after along day at the beach by half moon bay. The sushi really hit the spot! Their lunch menu is amazing and affordable too! We started with the takoyaki octopus fried balls and a few rolls. We also tried a bento box and some otoro sushi. Everything was very good and the service was solid- quick and friendly. The interior decor was casual and consistent with the japanese theme. Overall this is a solid casual sushi spot in a great location! Highly recommend!

A Half Moon Bay gem! Fresh, delicious sushi always presented with grace and a smile. Great party platters, too!

I didn't know the shopping center at the western end of 92 had a name. It's called Strawflower Village in case you were wondering. What a name. I'm not a local, and frankly it's a bit of a pain waiting for the traffic lights to come in and out of the parking lot. That's why I have to have a good reason to come here, and I think I've found one in this newish compact Japanese spot. I decided to make a takeout order as I was strolling the coastal trail. It only took about twenty minutes to prepare my order, and I timed it just right. I decided to try one of their higher ticket items, the $28 Chirashi Donburi, which was well executed with at least a dozen slices of fresh fish on top of a bowl of sushi rice (photo: https://bit.ly/3Q6b2Tb). It came with warm miso soup (photo: https://bit.ly/3CFLQxp), and I was emboldened by my choice. So emboldened apparently that I ordered a separate entree. The $14.50 Chicken Yaki Stir-Fried Udon was a bit of an indulgence as the oily noodles overwhelmed the chicken and veggies tossed in the mix (photo: https://bit.ly/3X3i5hJ). It was good grub but definitely more of a leftover dish. Out of a guilty conscience, I added the $7.50 Spinach "Goma Ae" because I need more blanched spinach with sesame seeds in my life (photo: https://bit.ly/3vvWoLc). Good stuff, and it was worth tolerating the extra traffic lights. FOOD - 4 stars... a fine chirashi bowl trumps the oily udon AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...cute spot, nicely decorated, fills up fast SERVICE - 4 stars...it was all made to order TOTAL - 4 stars...worth a stop at Strawflower Village...what a name RELATED - Exploring the Pacific side of the peninsula? Dinner Bento Box - Beef Teriyaki and Sashimi

This is a very friendly establishment. The ambiance is cozy and quaint. The owners did a very good job utilizing the limited space. It's in the Strawberry Shopping plaza. If you aren't local here you can completely miss it. The menu is fairly traditional to most sushi establishments, with honorable roll name mentions to the neighborhood that surrounds this place. The food and service has been consistent since they first opened earlier this year. Some of my favorites on the menu will have to be the bento box. I've had a variety of combos and haven't been disappointed with any of them. I'm VERY glad they have Saba as one of the options for fish since I'm not really a fan of salmon. I also recommend trying their appetizers too. I LOVE their Nori chips!! I mean, come on... who else is serving this? The sweet lady who takes the orders is also a gem. She has always been pleasant at every encounter. This place gets my stamp of approval. I ordered take out tonight... enjoy the pic.

The food here was some of the most delicious Japanese food we've ever tried. Starting from the miso soup to the bento box and the sushi rolls, the items were tasty and very well presented with good portions. Definitely recommend to visit to this gem in half moon bay.

You are allowed to order two items at a time during the 90 minute brunch portion. You then have 30 minutes for the dessert items, though the waiter did say we could order more brunch items during that time too. I maxed out during round 5. Round 1: The MARIN COUNTY CHEESE TASTING and the PAN SEARED SCALLOP. There were three types of cheese on the plate with some fig jam and some raisin bread. Everything was super tasty. Loved the fig jam. The scallop was very nicely cooked. Loved the truffle foam. It was supposedly polenta foam but it was very smooth and not grainy at all. Round 2: CAVATELLI and CHOCOLATE CHIP PANCAKES. I think the pasta was my favorite meal of the day. It had a great truffle and parmesan flavor. Soft pasta. Yum. The pancakes were also delicious. Nice and fluffy with melted chocolate chips. I did hold the ricotta cream from it as I know I don't like it. Round 3: LOBSTER ROLL and WAGYU BEEF SLIDER. The lobster roll was tasty but messy. I don't like caviar so I had that held. The slider was very tasty. The sauce on it was a bit too BBQ-sauce flavor for me but overall not a bad bite. Round 4: I did the ORGANIC MAITAKE MUSHROOM and another scallop. The mushrooms were super flavorful. Loved the crispy rice puffs on them. Round 5: I just did on plate - the BELGIAN WAFFLES. I loved the waffles. Crispy outside, soft inside. Warm apples on top and a big dollop of whipped cream. Yum! Dessert: There were carrot cakes, coconut macaroons, strawberry shortcakes and a chocolate pistachio balls. I only add the carrot cake there and took the rest home for later. The staff was very good. Always taking away empty plates and refilling drinks and water. A splurge of a meal but worth it for good food and service.

At almost $200 pp, we went in wanting to make sure we could order as much as we could during the time limit of the unlimited brunch. However, we didn't have to worry - the service was so fast, that by the end we were well stuffed that the time restraint was moot. Each person can order 2 dishes at a time, and we had the chance to cover everything we wanted to try off the menu and order our favorites multiple times. Some highlights were definitely the scallop and lamb (even as non-lamb lover). The salad also surprisingly stood out, it was really great to eat this paired with the seafood/meats especially towards the end of the meal. I also really enjoyed trying the different caviars, and always love a solid wagyu slider. Only wished they had cornichons to pair with the slider, but appreciate that the staff tried to find pickles for us in the kitchen. The meal ended with a afternoon tea tower of pastries, which we were at that point way too stuffed to take in. The one pastry I tried though, was really delicious, not too sweet. All in all, 10/10 experience. The cherry on top was the complimentary champagne for our celebration! Truly a splendid experience.

For some reason they only refunded 1/3 of the dish after we clearly showed them part of the fish was still raw. It was literally cold/frozen to the bite. Why does refunding 1/3 of the dish make sense? Even if the logic is that we ate some of it, what we ate gave us a stomachache and could have been parasites at worst? I understand the restaurant didn't have many people during that time and the margins were slim on a Friday, but by the time it was getting late the tables started to fill up. Disappointed
