My hubby and I were up super early hiking the Continental Divide Trail to catch the sunrise 2 weeks ago and drove into Keystone hoping to grab a quick breakfast after coming down before heading off to our next hike to finish out our day. Excellent food. The crab cake Benedict was terrific. However, the stinking rancid oil smoke that permeates the restaurant makes you need to shower and wash your clothes after eating there. The coffee could be a little stronger but the flavor was good. read more

I anticipated breakfast here after reading the reviews. I was excited to watch the game and fill my stomach with the heavily talked about food.... Then I walked in... I will start this off prefacing that this is not my issue with respecting standards that restaurants have, but rather my complete shock with the audacity of the staff. Until today, I had never been in a situation where I had to stand up for my rights and quote the American Disabilities Act and emphasize that especially people who work in the service industry should respect that animals are also working in the service industry. They undergo extensive training, and serve a purpose... a purpose that is keeping a business' potential customer and their money inside of their business...let alone having to do all of that to an owner/manager. But, now thanks to "Chad" the owner, cook, and manager at Haywood Cafe, I had the opportunity to do so. The two young girls at the hostess stand were awkward enough to get seated by with my leashed and labeled service dog. The moment I sat down a large man (enter "Chad") approached our table telling me I needed to remove my dog out of respect for his other customers and the health code policy. (Let me make a side note that our 2 top table was sat by a wall where I was eye level with a pair of used and rather dusty ski boots:also pictured). I showed him my Dogs service registry, told him the laws... And he didn't care. He wanted my service dog out. Can you imagine if I was blind?! Judging customers, and discrimination of non-visible disabilities is the backbone to the ethics of Haywood... meanwhile, people are flipping out that Chic-Fil-A doesn't agree with the gay life style. THIS is a business that actually tells disabled people to leave what helps them be more "able". I refused to leave or remove my dog. I was hungry. I was tired. And I wanted some food, damn it. After getting upset from shoving cards, ID's and laws in this guy's face, he told me to do what I wanted and returned back to the kitchen. So I stayed, ordered my food and let my small dog lay under the table while none of his other guests even noticed him.... I got my food, and even though it probably contained traces of his spit or some other gross thing from him being mad at me, it tasted decent. And I ate it hungrily as he kept glaring at me. I ordered the vegetable Benedict. Eggs were over poached. Hollandaise sauce was good. Home fries were crisp yet soft, although still bland without hot sauce. Food would have earned Haywood a 3 star rating, the way I was treated brought them down to a 1 star. All respect for the business lost. Disappointed and left emotional. read more

10/10 would recommend this place. We searched Mimosa's and this was the first to pop up. GEN was our server and he was on top of everything, including his other tables. The mimosas and bloody Mary's were to die for! From the appetizers(pigtails) to the crab cakes, biscuits and gravy, and the grits it was absolutely delicious. read more

Just a couple miles down the road from the resort and they boast one of the best happy hours you can find. We stopped here after a long day skiing and enjoyed many $1 mystery beers that were on happy hour. The food was pretty great too! We split the hummus plate and the veggie sandwich (both vegan!). The restaurant is no frills with TV's to watch the game and great service. Best part we got out of here with full stomach's, a light buzz, and it was only $22! The Sexi Mexi Benedict was neither sexi or mexi. Our server was more hung over than the members of our party and graciously greeted us with "what do you want". This only happened after we patiently waited for our server to lose a game of Roshambo with the other servers before being forced to wait on our table. The bacon bloody Mary was the perfect hair of the dog and the home fries were awesomely crispy. I'm not sure when they started using taco meat instead of chorizo on the Sexi Mexi Benedict but it was a pleasant surprise that my intestinal fortitude appreciated in the end. We came upon the Haywood Cafe. It seemed like a good place because it was busy and open. Maybe I'm expecting too much from a mountain cafe in the off season, but having a clean waitress would have been nice. I mean come on! It's called SHAMPOO! Long greasy hair only made my greasy rueben seem even more gross. When I say my rueben was greasy, I mean I was basically eating warm lard attached to the bread. YUCK! The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because the rest of my party said the burgers were decent. Definitely nothing to write home about or go back a second time for. If you want lunch in Keystone this is not the place. Go back down to Dillon and hit a fast food joint. At the very least it won't cost you $10 for a gross sandwich. read more

We own a condo up in Keystone and have been recommended to Haywood Cafe from friends and for a decent breakfast, lunch, dinner spot, I would recommend it. The place itself isn't much to write home about and feels like a diner which I think is great as most of the time I'm coming off the mountain and not looking to dress up. We came in for breakfast before a ski day and had no problems getting in within 10 minutes around 8am (though it does get busy later in the morning so be sure you're not starving if you do that). There are lots of TVs so I would imagine it'd be a great spot to watch sporting events. The food was good enough for what we were looking for - something quick and easy. I would certainly recommend it to our renters as well as our friends when we come up and stay. read more

Typically good mountain breakfast spot. The service is pretty good, they're busy on ski mornings, so they're not super efficient, but they are friendly. Good Eggs Benedict, which I always love to order when going out for breakfast, good omlettes, and good potatoes. So everything is "good, not great". The main weakness is the very limited kids menu. They only have one real option, and it is a "Mickey Pancake" and way too much food for a kid under 10. This place turns into a sports bar in the afternoon/evening - an interesting combination.
