This mall is relatively small, but it does serve the local community. It has been sad loosing a few of the good stores in here which were the main attraction for coming in, such as The English Butler shop for kitchen gadgets (now you have to go west on Hazeldean to Grace in the Kitchen for this kind of shopping). That being said (as so many of us say here in Yelp), this mall does have a great 2nd Cup coffee shop, with comfy couches and a fire place.
The Zellers has closed, and it looks like it's being replaced by a Target store. No sign posted indicating projected opening dates, so stay tuned.
There's a lotto outlet here, a Bentley's, TanJay, Stitches, and a Northern Reflections which has presumably done some "refreshing" which seems to have basically entailed new paint. They were closed for some time, but changes IMHO are minimal; new paint changed the decor so that it no longer has that homey or "cottage-y" appeal to it. Not so sure I'm impressed with the changes. There are many other shops not mentioned in here.
I do enjoy browsing at the hallway carts in this mall; they often change. I have seen the Salty Don here in the past, but he's not a regular - look for him at the Carp Fair. This week there was a Tupperware lady. And they often have a fundraising booth for a good cause.
I hope the mall atmosphere will improve once the Target opens up. It looks a bit run down and decrepid right now, which is unusual for this neighbourhood meeting place. read more
