This is a smart hair salon that my wife uses fairly regularly. I've even used it myself! I'm not…read morenormally one for haircuts generally - I prefer an occasional buzz cut in the nearby barbers - but the reason I used this place was to have a once-in-a-blue-moon decent haircut the day before we got married last year. Being a fish out of water in such places I was treated gently and was very happy with what I came out with. Normally tales of prices in such places terrify me, but I think I paid a fairly reasonable £15 for my cut. My wife gets her hair done there, as I mentioned, and is always happy with what she gets. It can get very busy at times and it's often best to book, rather than just show up. Whether you are a haircut-phobic scruff like me, or someone who enjoys the hairdressing experience, I can recommend this place.

They saved my hair!…read more I came here once to see if they could help me after I'd had a hair disaster at another salon nearby. (I'd asked for highlights and I got thick block streaks.) The girls here were great, they completely understood what had gone wrong and they advised me on what to do. They managed to slot me in two days later, brilliant! As I entered the girl on the desk remembered me and came up, smiling and chatting. I was put at ease straight away. They gave me a coffee and a magazine and got to work. A few hours later my hair was complete and I was in shock. There were no blocks of blonde anymore just carefully blended shades complimenting one another. They'd even got my style correct without having to ask. Over the years my hair ideas have changed so I had to step away from Evolution as they want to do the same thing with me each time. I come here for any trims I need and I go elsewhere for my colour.

All of the staff are fun, bubbly and have a story to tell (which you'll probably hear if you're in the chair longer than 10 minutes). The prices are incredible and I have never had a less than perfect hairdo after visiting. I have had everything from full head dye's (black to red), to leopard print in the sides, streaks and various funky short looks as styled by Debbie. Especially handy if you're at the Uni, but if you're ever down this way - give them a go. Worth a trip out of town.

It's a beautiful salon, and overlooks the green, so that won my vote before I'd taken about 2 steps inside the door. When I did, however, I was warmly welcomed, and surrounded by people with great haircuts. I knew I would do well here. And I did. I had Kevin - who everybody seems to love - and rightly so. Despite the fact that I normally like hairdressers to listen to what I think rather than just going off on their own merry accord, Kevin kind of took control - but all his suggestions were spot-on. I think I love him. I am planning on smuggling him out of there and installing him permanently in my house as my hair slave. It is pricey. It is not astronomical, but it is pricey. There were a few products available to buy such as shampoo and conditioners but I didn't buy any as I get mine online. I haven't yet had my colour done here so I can't recommend that service, but for a quick trim and a cuppa this is a great place that isn't overly priced like a number of other city centre salons.

Very poor service. I went to this place to get my hair dyed and got told I needed a skin test first…read moreand so went along for a skin test, then booked to have my hair dyed. Unfortunately I then came down too ill to go to my appointment. I phoned up and talked to Bond and asked her what their cancellation policy was as nobody had told me and it was nowhere on the website. I was not told on the phone what the policy was either, all I got told was that she will book me in to have my hair dyed another day, so she booked me in. I then had to cancel a second time as I had terrible flu and my dad talked to Bond on speaker phone so I could hear and my mum could I hear (I was too ill to use my voice) and again no cancellation policy or anything was explained, all that happened is my hair dye appointment was booked in another time. So I turned up to have my hair dyed, having organised my whole month so I could be there as it is tricky for me to go as I am 95% housebound with severe chronic health problems, and I then got told by Bond that she would not dye my hair that day, they she would only do another skin test first and then I'd have to return again next week (which I was not able to do). I told her that I had not been told any of this on the phone, and she said that she had explained all of this. I explained that I had talked to her, and my dad had talked to her with my mum and me listening in on speakerphone, and neither time was any of this explained. My mum and dad confirmed this. She still said all of this had been explained and would not apologise for her mistake. I will not return to this place again. I am not well enough to be messed about. It took a lot to get there only for them to not dye my hair. The least they could have done was apologise. I am never using your hairdressers again. Poor communication, poor service.

The salon obviously has regulars which is great and they always do a really good job I think so does my husband! Its quite reasonably priced although they have put the price up.
