My doctor sent me to HCA Florida Highlands Hospital for an untrasound procedure. I asked for the names of the caregivers along the way because they were SO pleasant and efficient! Angelica took me through security and onto Jennifer, the concierge, in almost no time. Jennifer already knew my name and had paperwork in hand, and with that, she showed me my next stop with Dana who knew exactly why I was there and told me that the wait wouldn't be long, and she was right. No sooner did she say that than Rod, the person who was doing the ultrasounds that day, was introducing himself and telling me how easy the procedure would be. He made it so :) The hospital is immaculate, the staff are the BEST EVER, and I am so grateful to have access to such a wonderful hospital! Just want to say thank you to Angelica, Jennifer, Dana, and to Rod who made me feel like I was in good hands at HCA. read more

Absolutely horrendous! They don't deserve Any stars! Worst hospital! They do not have doctors, they are snail pace. I was so frustrated with how unprofessional they were. If I am admitted here again I will be right out the door headed to Tampa or Ft.Myers. Highlands county is the wrong place to go to a hospital. They had to call specialists an hr out of town. I brought in my medication they locked it up and it took two days for someone to unlock the medicine. They added a ton of stress, even had to call the police for someone to unlock it and the police officer was horrible and started power tripping all over me! Highlands is trash! Wish I could move. read more

I've been to the hospital three times in one week. Twice in the emergency room in the other Sebring hospital and finally here at HCA hospital. They called me in just a few minutes. The nurses and the doctor in the emergency room were great. My troubles came when they put me in observation. I was (and still am) in excruciating pain. The nurses and most of the staff took really good care of me. But unfortunately Dr. Bethel-Ellison sent me home too early and with the wrong dosage of pain medication. I've been living with Sickle Cell Disease my entire life. I know what it takes for me to feel better. Plus, I have epilepsy and a vascular necrosis. That's why I don't go to the hospital that often. I don't have transportation and I feel like complete garbage just because I am in excruciating pain. The doctors just see me as dollar signs and a drug addiction. That's why I feel so alone in my journey with sickle cell. They don't understand the pain and what I go through every time. read more

Unfortunately I had to give one star. We have been to the hospital several times it's never been great, but this was the WORST! My daughter went in with a broken jaw and needed stitches. Dr. Kahn was rude, quick, and obviously does not care about his patients. He told us he would not numb her chin before stitches. Which later I found out he should have. We left the hospital after we were told she was fine and just to follow up with her Dr after the weekend. My daughter was in so much pain we took her to Tampa General were they admitted her and did surgery within hours. After calling to complain, and still waiting to hear back it is obvious that the administration doesn't care about the patients either. Take my advice drive the 2 hours to Tampa. Save your child from being treated like this. read more

I was a patient in the ER on March 1st and Sept 19th taken there by my request via ambulance after dislocating my right hip prosthesis. The care both times was excellent, however form the Sept 19 visit and sent to room 204 for 24 hour observation, I have been trying to obtain my medical records for almost 8 weeks now and have tried emailing the correct form, faxing it and sending it by snail mail and still have not been able to obtain my records to continue my care with my hip situation. I have become very frustrated as i is a patient's RIGHT to obtain these records. I have followed their requests to the letter and called several different numbers provided on the form as well as provided by them. My next step this week will be Channel 8 On Your Side NEWS and Better Call Benken and she if she can get to the bottom of this frustrating situation. read more

I recently had two knee replacements at Highlands Regional, Sebring at the Ortho Institute. My husband in January, also had knee replacement. It was a wonderful experience. From pre-admission to labs the surgical team the nurse, tech even the cleaning people were extremely caring professional and made her experience very pleasant. Surgery can be a very scarey thing but thanks to the extraordinary care of Dr Alvarez and his Ortho team we both came away mended and at peace. Thank you read more

I had knee surgery on February 3rd. The care I got was great. Dr alvarez did a great job. The nurses I had where Yanet, Mylanda, Michelle. The where Super any thing I needed they got for me. I will make Highlands Regional Medical Center my hospital. Please tell my nurses they are great. read more

I have had too many admissions to the hospital. However highlands has mad these more bearable. The staff is pleasant and quickly responds to your needs. I feel well taken care of. read more

Wow! What a horror! My father was taken here after a UTI rendered him helpless. Sadly, he laid on the floor at his home for a couple of days before he was found. He hadn't had access to food or water during this time. He was transported by ambulance to HRMC Thursday evening. The lack of care was horrific. He was not fed, bathed, or changed. I found him naked except for a soiled diaper in a dark, extremely cold room with a tray of food untouched including the wrapped silverware. No attempt was made to feed him. He had no clothes on, with boxing gloves on his hands and a blanket at the end of the bed. He was mostly incoherent. I went to the desk to complain and found a young Spanish woman behind it talking to other staff and an ambulance driver with out a mask on. When I told her "this is unacceptable" she mumble something about a nurse and store off down the hallway still with out a mask. Two nurses then came in with excuses for the lack of care, changed him, clothed him, and left. I was able to feed him some of the cold lunch and cleaned him up myself. The nurse in charge couldn't answer any of my questions concerning the infection, medication, or alternative ways of feeding him (ie IV or protein shakes) like it never crossed her mind. Thankfully we had him transferred the next day! Never again, and if you love your family...go elsewhere! read more

HRMC is the best hospital I have been to. All of the staff I there are very polite and helpful. while I was a patient there I saw everyone helping each other. The Radiology department was exceptional, they explained everything they where doing and maintained my privacy. I would return to this hospital and would definitely recommend it to my family ND friends. Keep up the good work guys. Don't let negativity bring you down. read more

Absolutely the worst hospital I have ever been too. I was there twice with my daughter an they did nothing high fever every two hrs an they urine test give ya antibiotic an send u on the way. long story short ended up in florida hospital 104.6 fever blood work ultra sound admitted for 4 days an almost infection in her blood stream. I wouldn't take my animals to that hospital... very lucky for florida hospital. my little girl is very lucky to come out of it. very sad an disappointing when all that really matters to highands is getting you in an out... ridiculous an worthless to me read more

After going there for a bad fall I was treated like a third class citizen. Seeing that I hadn't been there in four years. I filed a complaint and was shook off as someone again. The ER staff and the person handling the complaints are together. I now have to seek an attorney for civil justice. I will go to Pikeville Medical Center from now on. read more

In general the staff is very good, except for the radiology department. The supervisor there has an attitude problem and thinks that the patients are a major inconvience. This is reflected in her staff too. However, she is not totally to blame, the CEO is nothing but a bag of hot wind, who tells you what you want to hear and then goes and hides in his office. Thus the staff basically does as they please. As for the office to which the CEO is accountable to, they all choose to ignore problems and hope they go away. My choice would be Florida Hospital. read more

I agree, the radiologists are not at all educated and eventually will do some major damage to an individual, if they have not already done so. The doctors are obviously no better as my mother clearly had broken her knee cap in half; however, the radiologist and doctors said she was fine. Unbelievably, they discharged her and proceeded to shove her with her broken knee into the car, while she screamed in excruciating pain. She was told to follow up with an orthopedist. Horrible, horrible hospital. read more

I have been a patient of this hospital many of times. The staff is WONDERFUL! I have no complaints for the entire facility (radiology, lab, ER...). Everyone is very curteous and respectful. I have also been to other hospitals in the area and will only return to Highlands Regional. New, shiney buildings cannot overcome rude and uncaring staff like at FL Hospital. I would definately reccommend this place to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, healthcare facility. read more
