The Good: We hired Betty for our wedding in March of 2020…read morebut had to reschedule due to Covid and she was very flexible in working with us on this. She also did a good job of performing the ceremony once she arrived. The Less Good: We had a wedding on the Hilo side of the island which has spotty service to say the least. Betty was 45 minutes late for our 10am ceremony and this is only because we had to send my uncle to find her lost on the side of the road. Due to spotty service, no one heard from her until I called at 10:15am and come to find out later, she had been calling my wife (the bride) from 10:01am multiple times that she was lost, having a backup phone number would be helpful to prevent this. The place isn't hard to find if you plug it in your phone/GPS prior to losing service, but this and other communication issues definitely lead us to believe there is a struggle with technology. Once she arrived, the ceremony went well and the next lapse in communication ensued. My wife and Betty had exchanged voicemails the day before the wedding after we finished on virtual licensing agent appointment so our marriage certificate could be issued. Betty stated that she had everything ready for the day of the wedding and didn't clarify that we needed to print off our marriage certificate so we were rushing to find a printer after the ceremony which caused more delays and we were not able to sit down to brunch with our guests after the ceremony. Because she performed well at the ceremony, I was initially going to leave a 3 star review. However, we had a friend get married several days after us and we heard that she was late for their wedding as well. Being late to two weddings in the same week is very unprofessional so I can't in good conscious recommend Betty to other couples and if you do book, maybe lie and say your ceremony is earlier so she is on time.

Everything went smoothly, starting from my initial inquiry a few months ago, to the ceremony on the beach. Betty emailed the vows to me and allowed us to customize it anyway we wanted to. We found that what she had written was perfect. She gave us a choice of locations, and offered suggestions such as bringing leis to the ceremony for a Hawaiian lei exchange. Nice touch She showed up a little early, which was great, because we took a few minutes to find the right spot with the sunset in the background. If you are looking for the perfect sunset pictures in the background, I would recommend a 6:45pm start time. I highly recommend Betty, for someone that doesn't want the big production and big cost at one of the hotels.

Aunty Tutu - More Than Just an Officiant, She's Family!…read more If you're looking for the most incredible wedding officiant in Hawaii, look no further than Aunty Tutu! Seriously, don't walk, RUN to book her! She's not just an officiant, she makes you feel like ohana (family) throughout the entire process. From the very beginning, Aunty Tutu put us at ease. She has this infectious smile that lights up the room, and her warmth is truly genuine. We trusted her completely, and that trust made the whole wedding planning process so much smoother. On the wedding day, Aunty Tutu absolutely stole the show (in the best way possible!). Her ceremony was perfect - a beautiful blend of Hawaiian traditions and the spirit of Aloha. Our guests couldn't stop raving about how wonderful she was. There was literally a line to take pictures with her after the ceremony! If you're looking for an officiant who will make your wedding ceremony a truly special and unforgettable experience, look no further than Aunty Tutu. Aunty Tutu was a dream come true; every fine detail was worked out. Kaleo's guitar and Aunty's singing really brought the event together to begin, and her ceremony was absolutely perfect. My bride has never felt more beautiful or special. Aunty truly loves everyone of the people she marries; she calls us her "children" and she means it. I have never felt such an 'Ohana bond with someone so quickly. Aunty tutu is truly the gem of Big Island! It was such an honor to have her perform our ceremony, and to work with her friend Jeanette Clark over at Alohilani. Both of these woman created a solid foundation for the perfect day and I wouldn't change a single thing. If you are local and looking for tradition; this is it! If you are having a destination wedding; Feel the Touch of Aloha is absolute perfection for what you are looking for. No one loses when Aunty Tutu runs an event; let me tell you! Of course we were both nervous about a location we'd never visited before, but we decided to roll with it, and I'm so happy we did. Beautiful mostly secluded beach with an absolutely gorgeous sunset and sea turtles to boot! Larry offered more than just the traditional vows including a ring blessing, lei exchange, unity sand ceremony and a ti leaf and lava rock ceremony which made the whole experience more spiritually meaningful to us. His photographer was professional and they also offered a downloadable video of the ceremony and his wife took additional pictures with our phone as well. Larry was quick to respond during our back and forth planning emails, but his replies were sometimes a bit sparse which I'll admit had us a bit nervous. But after arriving there, we realized the laid backness is just the Hawaiian way, lol. It all turned out beautifully!

We had a simple order for our wedding: a bridal bouquet, a men's lei, and some flower aisle petals…read more I like to pre-plan so I ordered and paid 6 months in advanced and received a receipt and email confirmation. So far so good. Fast forward to our wedding in November and I don't get a call or email confirmation, but I look on the website and everything is up and running. I have my parents go to the physical shop to pick up my flowers and lo and behold, THE SHOP IS CLOSED. Less than 5 before my wedding. The google, yelp and invoice number are all disconnected or not it. I had to use my sleuth skills to google this ladies name (thank god it was on the invoice: Renee Was the CFD back in May 2017 with Maui Wholesale Blooms, though the invoice is actually Floral Events Maui, but all the same person). So I'm calling while driving to our venue (from Oahu, wedding in Maui) and Renee answers. I nicely (though a little anxiously) tell her my parents are at the shop but it's closed. She says she's not there. I tell her um. My wedding is TODAY in a few hours so are you dropping my order off at the venue? She has zero recollection of my order in her books/computer, "there's no one by that name with an order today." "...but, I paid. My wedding is today. I have confirmation..." I'm fuming inside and my husband notices this and talks to her, giving her an invoice number and voila, it pulls up! I was just thinking if I hadn't brought the invoice, I'd be whizz outta luck because this lady doesn't record keep well. Anyway, long story short, she hand delivers our flowers (which were beautiful) in time with a consolation bouquet for our troubles and a lackluster apology. Yeah. Flower arrangement was nice but not worth the hassle. 1 star for that.

The best. Above and beyond feels too trite to describe how Cheryl handled our ceremony, but above…read moreand beyond is how she operated in every possible way and our day was meaningful and poignant and we could not have imagined it better. On our first conversation, Cheryl said to me "Let me handle all the stress, you just get to Hawaii." I didn't have to worry about a thing; it was one of the easiest partnerships I've ever had with someone I'm working with to plan something. Cheryl went out of her way to accommodate every detail and request we asked for, from having our ukulele player learn our song (They Love Each Other by The Grateful Dead) on a weeks notice, to exploring every single option available to try and find a same-sex cake topper on Hawaii at the very last minute. When my mother wanted to be a sleuth to try and figure out our hotels, etc so she could do something, I put her in touch with Cheryl thinking she'd help her arrange dinner or a spa day at our hotel. Little did I know that Cheryl was talking to my mother and my mother-in-law almost daily, accommodating their requests and in the end keeping the big secret that our mothers paid for the entire day, photographer and wedding dinner. But even more special, Cheryl worked closely with them to give them the opportunity to put their small touches on our ceremony. Cheryl revealed the surprise after the ceremony and I can't tell you how special that was for us. Cheryl made it possible for our mothers to be part of our elopement and I can't thank her enough. Incidentally, my mother shared with me the pages and pages (.....and pages!) of emails she and my MIL exchanged with Cheryl. Even from 5,000 miles away, Cheryl's warmth and kindness touched our mothers and they will be forever friends. Our ceremony was intimate and and so well done. Her service was spot on for us as a couple, and Cheryl cried the whole time which made it feel like we were married by an old friend. Cheryl is everything you want for your Hawai'i elopement. She will forever hold an incredibly special place in our hearts and I couldn't ask for a kinder soul to remember as part of our day. Cheryl exudes love, fun and the spirit of aloha, and any couple who has her at the helm for their wedding is extremely blessed.

She invited us to her home, she treated us like family and her and her husband pas are both just all around kind and loving souls. She even went out of her way to help us with some local places to do , eat and see. Not only all that but she was down for an adventure elopement with us all the way down to the bottom of Waipi'o valley beach at sunrise. She was a trooper and one of the best friends/person to have married us. Thank you so much Cherly for your love and kindness
