Hadn't had my hair done since the start of the pandemic and had an important event coming up. I made an appointment with a stylist named Laura. She was either having a bad day or just wanted to leave early because she was very combative from the moment I walked in. I showed her a photo of myself with my regular hair style like I'd always done with previous stylists. She refused to listen to my request without trying to arguing with me over semantics. Not 2 minutes in her chair, she told me I was difficult and told her manager she that she refuses to work on me. In the past, I've always gotten my hair done in the valley but thought I'd give a local stylist a shot to impress but ended up utterly disappointed that she didn't even try to make an attempt. read more

Ask for Lacey Stephens. She does a beautiful job on men and women's hair. She is also very professional and fun to visit with. The salon is clean, the staff pleasant and high standards are maintained. This is being written just as salons are reopening due to COVID-19 so extra precautions are being taken. Every licensed worker has had to take, complete and pass a new certification through the State Board of Cosmetology for hygiene and sterilization/disinfecting their station and equipment. I did not have any concerns and I have not been out in public for months. Also- please remember that as self-employed workers they lost income and were not eligible for unemployment, tip as nicely as you can for the next few months so they can catch-up on all they have lost in pay and and personal resources. read more

I am a massage therapist who has experienced many therapists and therapies over my 25-year career. Lori is definitely one of the best. She is very in tune with my body's needs and uses her own extensive background and various modalities to address my issues. It's a spiritual experience just to be in her presence. In March of this year I experienced the worst haircut, weave and personal service I have ever experienced. The cut was jagged and uneaven and very short in some places with long strands in the same area. Completely awful haircut and then the chemicals for my weave (2 color) were left on my head for 35 min under the dryer and another 20 min out - needless to say my hair has been ruined, it brakes off if I crimp it together in my hand. BEWARE LADIES - I have heard around town that there are only two stylists that know what they are doing and both are no longer taking new clients. GOOD NEWS - After searching the web and calling salons I have found a master colorist and corrections stylist right here in Payson. She's new in town and exhibits a great deal of knowledge and skill. I've had both a good and bad experience. Love the atmosphere. They do many things at this salon. Everything depends on 'who' services you. M'Liss, hairdresser, is awesome. I really give her 5-Stars. She colored, cut and styled my hair better than anyone else has ever done....especially the 'styled' portion. I always have to go home, wash and re-style, but not with M'Liss. I recently went in for a cut and style from a new gal (M'Liss wasn't available). This gal chopped my hair up. It looks ok, but it is nothing that I wanted and forget about styling! Be sure to ask for someone 'experienced' when going there unless you really don't care what you get. I care a lot and M'Liss is awesome! I'm going back next week to have her 'correct' my hair as best as possible. Parking is real good and it's next door to Back-to-Basics. read more

I was having a hard time finding a good hair stylist since mine retired from Cottonwood, AZ. I was referred to Head to Toe and Denise Carnaham sure did an excellent job of doing my hair color and making is more multi dimensional since the last hair stylist could only do solid hair color and I really didn't like it. Denise did a great job of my color and also gave me a great cut. I sure will be back! read more

As a surprise, I booked my mom, who is 85 years old, for a facial and a half hour massage. My mom has had many facials in her long life. She says that the facial that Hannah Hart gave her is the best facial that she's ever had. Hannah really knew what she was doing, she was friendly and professional. My mother has sensitive skin, so I had been concerned about the peel. Hannah assured me that it was very gentle, and she was right. Next, my mom had a massage with Sarah Sanderson, and she said that massage was very good. By the time I picked my mom up, I thought she was just going to float to the car. She was very relaxed and her skin was glowing. We're already thinking of when we can go back for another treatment. read more

This is a very cute little salon/day spa in north Payson. The prices on the massages and esthetician services seemed very reasonable. All I had time for was a pedicure, which I was in desperate need of. That was about $40 which is what I usually pay but I think I generally get more for my money. They did not have the big plush massage chairs and jetted foot tubs. The setup was actually just regular arm chairs with a plug in tub of hot water resembling a crock pot. Not exactly what I am used to, but it totally went with their mom-and-pop shabby chic vibe. I was looking for a quiet relaxing treatment to chill out after the long drive from Phoenix but instead the atmosphere was a little more like the beauty salon in the movie Steel Magnolias (i.e. a bunch of small town ladies gossiping and gabbing about their love lives). It turned out to be a great experience, though, since I got a lot of local tips and advice about stuff to do and places to go in the area. read more

This is a cute salon located at the North end of the Swiss Village in Payson, close to the Best Western. The people are very friendly and accommodating. They offer a hair salon, massage therapy, facials, manicure and pedicure, nails and fills, and permanent makeup. Really worth a visit read more
