I flew into Michigan for our annual summer vacation and after looking in the mirror, I realized I needed a haircut. Badly. Luckily, I was able to get an appointment with Laura Young, and the cut, shampoo, and scalp massage were all on point. Horrible experience. Called the day before my appointment to switch times due to having to go to a funeral. Was told on the phone I was "all set". Showed up at new time and they told me they had no record of my call and someone else had that time now. No offer to help me. Sat here for over an hour and half. I walked in, no one greeted me because they are all hidden behind the wall. There is no sign in sheet or tablet, so I sat down, several people working but after 15 mins someone came up to cash someone out and someone walked in, they said they were a walk in, I noticed this, so I had stood up before she had taken his name, Clearly seeing that I was there first. They had several appointment, if you know you have that many appointments then you should give the customer a heads up, I would have made one and left, so disappointing. I'm giving it 5 then walking out. Updated Stylist was really nice, did a great job, manager called in to comp my hair cut, hopefully they get a check in system, and just let people know an estimate. I'm always very hesitant to trust anybody with my hair besides my regular stylist. My son went here and I was really impressed with his fade, part and cut. He said it was jade and I went and tried Out Jade. JADE is awesome and does a great cut, fade etc. I show her pic of what I want and she does it effortlessly and I am very particular with hair cuts. It's easy to book, the website and information are well-done, it has friendly service and a clean atmosphere, and I've been digging the work my stylist, Mark, does. He's a talented and personable dude and I've enjoyed getting to know him. I've gotten different cuts and colors from him and I'm consistently pleased with the results. This was a Horrible Experience! I am so incredibly sad for our sons! We decided to try this place at the Macomb location because we had Picture Retakes for School coming up. This was the first time here & we will Never Go Back! Also, I haven't decided if I'm going to leave another Review on Google with Before & After Pictures too! All I know is the Advertising Online from the Marketing Pictures, To the So-Called Staff, As Well As Actual Haircuts and/or Styles Shown, Are Nothing But False! This Place is Awful & the Service Was Not Good! I walked in and mind you (No One Was Waiting)! We were the Only guests in there & we were approached by a worker who checked us in & stated that it had both my sons down for haircuts only under Zachary! I then was asked who was going first & I said my eldest. I proceeded to walk back there and the same person who checked us in was apparently our Stylist too. While I was trying to say what we wanted during a 1 minute consult, another worker went to get my younger son who's only 8 & started cutting his hair! I was completely annoyed that they were doing it at the same time because I couldn't be present for both! Meanwhile, I showed other Stylist Pictures of a few boys haircuts, for sole purpose of choosing the blade level between 1 & 2 Only, Not the Actual Haircut itself! And that's when she began cutting off way to much hair on the top of his head stating I told her I wanted that haircut! All I know is that my other son was squirming in his chair & when I went to check on him she had already cut so much of my older son's longer blonde hair off! It was a Total Hack Job! Then she could tell I was very upset, so she got the Manager on Duty to come over & to try to step in! Interesting enough she seemed to be so uncomfortable and didn't really want to get involved or even cut his hair, but reluctantly tried, only just Making it Worse By Cutting off Even More! I Seriously Can Not Believe The Lack of Care, Consideration, and Responsibility of Ownership! Obviously she offered us a No Charge for the Dissatisfaction of Service, However it Does Not Negate My Son Having to Deal with a Horrendous Cut! It's Long on One Side & Shorter on the Other Side, but More Importantly We Have a Very Sad Middle Schooler Who's Confidence Is Going to be Greatly Affected! I Would Have Paid Top Dollar & Didn't Care How Much the Amount Was! I Never Even Checked Prices Before I Booked the Appointments! All I Wanted Was To Have Good Haircuts PERIOD! The Lack of Empathy & Experience Is Truly Unacceptable! We have come here for 2 years & won't be coming back! I made 2 online appointments for my boys at 2pm with any stylist. We show up at 1:53 and are told that they are running behind. Ok, fine. 20 minutes later, they've taken 5 people who came after us . I warned my boys I was goinng to have an issue. The receptionist said the men that were taken back before us had selected a stylist. I DON'T CARE!!! I had an appointment, I wasn't a walk in. Yes, we stayed because they need haircut badly, however I will never never spend another dollar at this place. Spoke to Renee. It was 7:34 pm. Was told they close at 8:00 pm. To me when you say you close at a specific time means that you are open for business up until the last minute and will help a client out even if it means staying late so long as they came in during normal business hours. Was promptly given notice that they stop taking appointments at 7:30 pm. I asked if it was a by appointment only hair salon. Renee said that they also take walk-ins. Awesome. Then this means I can go up there (which I was on my way, maybe 5 minutes away) and get a haircut, right? Wrong. Was told again that all appointments are not taken after 7:30 pm. But I was just told that walk-ins are welcome, no? So then I stated that they're actual operating hours are until 7:30 pm. Renee said no, it's until 8:00 pm. See where I'm going with this? I used to frequent this place when it just opened and not many knew about it. Service was great and the staff at the time were personable. They knew me. While I understand that business growth is inevitable, that doesn't mean you lose sight of your fundamentals. I thanked her for her time and proceeded to got to Great Clips. The hair stylist was exceptional. I was in and out within 15 minutes. The price was $13.00, which I gave $10.00 for tip. Not uncommon of my former visits to Headquarters where I was charged $20.00 for a haircut and tipped them an additional $20.00 for the great service. Given the recent string of failed attempts both in person and over the phone to get a haircut at least 30 if not an hour before they close, I don't think I'll be going back. It's a shame though. What made me want to come back wasn't the price but the service. If this has happened to me, I know others have experienced it too. At this point, just change your hours of operation to 7:30 and be appointment only. Because rejecting business which you advertise as walk-in is not only misleading, but disheartening as a consumer. To me they might as well have said "no, we don't want your business. We're just fine." However I didn't want to just give it 1 star as my prior experiences when the place just opened were not like they are today. If you like this place then you appear to fit the ideal customer they want. Congratulations. read more

I'm new to the area (I've lived in Algonac all my life and recently moved to Harrison Township), and was looking for a new place for a hair cut. I heard about Headquarters, and decided it was worth a go. Let me just say, I'm so glad I did! A few of the biggest pros are as follows: 1. The staff is extremely friendly, will offer you beverages and converse with you while you wait. 2. They have several "packages" you can choose from and state the price up front - they have books that look like menus while you're waiting that show the services they offer and prices. Just for kicks, I never selected a package - and my cut was only $13.00! They have massage packages (which are reasonable, prices are somewhat industry standard) and even offer scalp massages. 3. They go the extra mile, and I feel like I need to elaborate a bit on this point. My stylist (Aubrey) was fantastic. I have naturally curly hair, and told her I pretty much gave up on trying to do anything with it. She spent some time talking to me about options I didn't consider, walked me through some hair product examples, and went to work. I got a nice scalp massage during my shampoo, the hot lather neck shave, and a great conversation through the entire ordeal. 4. You won't miss the game(s) - televisions at every station, leather chairs throughout. 5. They're open on SUNDAY! I'm terribly busy throughout the week, and it's a struggle to make time on saturday (especially since most places close around 1:00). Unless you want to go to the mall and get ripped up at one of those "cut" places, this is the place to go! In summary: This place really caters to men, and doesn't need to be sales-like or flirty to do so. I want to go somewhere that knows how to cut my hair and treats me like a human being (not an assembly line number) - and it's only a bonus if the stylist has a great personality. read more

I take my sons (11 and 13 years old) here for haircuts. They do a good job on the haircuts, but sometimes the wait times are annoying. Both my boys just had an 11:00 appointment and we're not seen until 11:20. Also, it's Saturday and the place is fairly busy and yet they have no one working the front desk. read more

The atmosphere was nice and the staff was very nice. Was offered beverages during the haircut and when I was about to leave. The wait was not long at all. Overall it was a very comfortable experience. However, the haircut itself was very generic. There was nothing special about it and is something you can get at any other barber shop. Upon closer inspection when I got home, there were still patches of longer hair which I had to trim myself. In the end, you are paying more than average for a comfortable experience, but less than average haircut. read more

Wife made an appointment for our Son (15), this was our first time coming here. Walked in, was asked if we had an appointment from behind the wall, yes we do I answered for my Son. One of the many ladies (approx 5) came up to the front counter and asked for his name, "*****" was shared. She nodded and left the front desk. A man and his Son and daughter walked in and sat down. Two women came out and greeted them, offering them drinks and said it would be just a min. Then mins later proceeded into the back for the sons hair cut and soon after the dad went back for his. I said excuse me but my son has an appointment at 6:30? They asked for his name again, which I gave them and then proceeded to stare at the computer screen with no real answer other than it will be a few more mins. After waiting for 17 mins after the scheduled appointment (FYI no one was getting a hair cut while we were waiting) they came out to grab my Son For his hair cut. (No drink offered) More to come once he gets done with his hair cut. I'm sure hoping this goes well so I can change this review. Right now I would not suggest this place to anyone and we will definitely not come back. Maybe things will change after he gets done... hope so. Part 2 - Ok so now our Son has his haircut and he is very happy. He enjoyed a hot towel and hair wash and overall nice treatment from Jennifer. Never under estimate the power of social media. After we paid and headed to our vehicle, we caught up with an old friend in the parking lot. As we were talking one of the Headquarters employees came up to us and offered our money back for the poor experience in the beginning. That was incredibly nice and attentive of the Owner. We will be back for another shot at the services. The environment is really nice and the over vibe is cool and relaxing. We will cautiously recommend this place to folks. It's in a perfect location and has a lot of the right things for guys. read more
