It is not shared, so we were in separate rooms. You could probably request to be in the same but it would be pretty tight. But solo it is incredibly spacious in the booths. The infared sauna gets warmer than some versions, so you can have them up near 170 more like a traditional swedish sauna if you like. The halo therapy was the first for me and very unique. Salt therapy I know is very useful, but to have the medical grade salt in a closed room is a very different experience. I could see it really helping with COPD and asthma as it's claimed to do. You really can't beat the full facilities they have. With the little spacious lounge area to recuperate or to take a shower after. Free refreshments available to recover. (And some specialty drinks available for purchase in bottles near the front) Combine that with it's convenient location right off 77. Perfect for anyone like us who travels down to Charlotte frequently.

Having lived in Arizona for many years, I was used to the "dry heat." The woman explained that I probably wouldn't sweat as much my first session but that if I kept going I would begin to sweat more. Well, she was right about not sweating much during my first session. I could feel the heat and my body warming up pretty immediately. It wasn't hard to breath and the air didn't feel stuffy or thick, which is one thing I never liked about the more traditional saunas. The infrared sauna was surprisingly pretty relaxing. They provide you a sauna towel if you decide to strip down. It is recommended to wear less clothes for a better experience. The sauna box is small, so I wouldn't recommend if you're claustrophobic. I'm 5'3" and I thought it had plenty of space. There's an iPad on the wall inside the sauna with Netflix and a music app queued and ready for your 40 min session. It makes the experience fun and helps pass the time. After your session, they provide you a cold face towel scented with peppermint to help cool and relax you for your recovery. I sort of wanted to not like it but ended up becoming a member. Check them out and relax with a good sweat session.

I am writing this review today due to an extremely unprofessional and unpleasant experience I had with a front desk lady at the Davidson location. I had just rejoined with a different branch, and my information wasn't processed through to this location, and the front desk lady was unhelpful, and simply not friendly at all, and had made multiple comments to not only myself but to whom had joined me as well. The YMCA is a Christian non-profit organization, and I believe as a Christian and as an older woman with life experience especially in a job setting, you should understand that you never know truly what a single person has going on in their lives, no matter what smile, humor, and youth they bring to you. I wish this woman well, but no one; no matter of any age should be treated in such ways, especially in a Christian environment, and that implies to all, including myself. I just wish to see better treatment towards customers and members from employees at this location, and understand cruel judgement in any form isn't the Christian way.
