She helped me through a particularly tough transition which involved from root touch ups every two weeks at Madison Reed that were frying my hair, and a hairstyle that should have been retired years ago. Tyler gave me the cutest pixie cut that styles itself (good thing because I am inept) and figured out the best way for me to grow in my grey. Now we do low lights every few months, I get slight modification on my bixie and instead of feeling like an old lady, I feel like a hip chick. But not inappropriately-so. Hands down my favorite haircut ever!! I have had a string of bad hairstylists in walnut creek over the past few years. I have very thick hair and one left my hair wet, saying they didn't have enough time to dry it. Another chopped off way too much. Another time, I came home to find giant uneven pieces that were several inches longer than the rest. I was pretty scarred by the time a friend recommended Hearten Salon, and I'm so glad she did because it is the best haircut I have ever received. Tyler knows her way around thick, wavy hair, and she cut it to take a lot of weight out while framing my face and accentuating my waves beautifully. She also gave lots of practical and easy tips (not the "you need to buy all of this expensive stuff and spend all this time" tips) on how to manage my waves that I can easily incorporate into my daily routine. A lot of salons will spend a bunch of time round brushing hair that looks super cool but I could never replicate at home. Instead, she showed me an easy way to style my hair with a diffuser that looked incredible and I could do myself. She is also so fun and easy to talk to! I spent 10+ years coloring and cutting my own hair. I had about as much faith in har stylists as I did in alien abductions because of some really bad experiences. After box color and a really outdated and unflattering style, I finally asked my two friends who was responsible for their consistently amazing tresses. Enter Tyler.
