There weren't many people dining when we arrived but it was full by the time we left. We both wanted comfort food so we ordered pizza and spaghetti bolognese. Both were delicious. We also had wine and their house lager with our meal. Our meals arrived promptly and both were delicious. Service was prompt and professional. The ambiance of the restaurant was quiet and calm even tho it was full of diners. We really enjoyed our dinner here and hope to return again some day.

The…read moreGlenmoriston was by far the best hotel - based on value, location, comfort, cleanliness, and friendliness of staff. The hotel is situated right on the bank of the River Ness. It's within easy walking distance of the Ness Islands in one direction, and the main part of town - shops and restaurants - in the other direction. I liked that it was a bit removed from "the bustle" of the city (if Inverness can ever be said to "bustle"), but close enough to get to without a car. Our room was in the "townhome" part of the hotel (not the main building, but the one across the parking lot), which was perfect. Our room was gigantic and super comfortable. My favorite thing was that the windows actually opened, which gave us a chance to enjoy the slight breeze and gave us a front-row seat to the church bells ringing down the way. The bed was huge and very comfortable. It was actually a little *too* comfortable; we ended up sleeping over 10 hours on our first night there! I woke up about five minutes before the front desk called to ask if we'd be needing housekeeping for the day. Oopsie! We didn't take advantage of room service or hit any of the property's restaurants/bars while we were there (we typically like to experience all a city has to offer when we travel, so while their menu looked inviting, we chose to try some of the places recommended by our taxi driver on the way into town, instead.) They did get bonus points for welcoming us to the hotel with two glasses of champagne - their way of congratulating us on our wedding anniversary. The shower looked modern, but it was kind of awkward to use, and it leaked all over the floor. They have a hair dryer (look in the desk if you can't find it elsewhere), as well as a mini putting green (stored in the closet; it's how you know you're in Scotland, I guess!) There's a TV we never used, and two comfy club chairs situated next to the windows. Check-in and check-out were fast, easy and friendly. They also went out of their way to protect us on that first day. Our taxi driver (super sweet girl named Michelle) was giving us all sorts of tips and advice on our way in, and after I mentioned my half-baked plan to rent bikes to ride out to Culloden, she dropped us off and headed towards a bike shop in town to get information on rentals. She came back to the hotel to tell us everything in person, and the front desk agent refused to tell her our room information, even though she (Michelle) kept insisting we were expecting her. This was the place that made us feel most comfortable, where we could relax after a long day of playing tourist, and where we'd definitely book again, if we're lucky enough to return to Inverness. If you're looking for a place to stay, give them a try!

They seem to have an ability to cobble together a staff that only exceeds their grace in hospitality in their camaraderie as a team with a total sweetie manning the ship. Everyone is beyond welcoming. The food veers away from your typical standard Scottish pub fare with splashes of American standards along with some continental fare, while still having chow that is common to the region. The beer and whisky menu is curated and a welcome refreshment on the middle leg of our journey as most Scottish pubs tend to lean more towards regional standards, not a bad thing, but after drinking dozens of pints of bitters and milds it was a delight to see a lovely pilsner on draft. I am not a whisky drinker myself but I am in hospitatliy and over hearing the servers describe the selection when asked by the guests one can tell they have done their homework. All in all a place busting with charm and personality in each and every employee and hospitality at its finest. Homemade, flaky, buttery delicious crust but not a lot of it so you can truly enjoy the flavors of the filling. Tender juicy chicken, creamy sauce with mushrooms and the bacon adds more flavor to it. The pasta special was a monkfish wrapped with pancetta with a creamy sauce and was divine. Salmon was excellent with shrimp and a potato salad, together with a little salsa for additional flavor. The fish pie was also good though my wife thought perhaps a little heavy on the sauce ( but plenty of fishy bits to choose from). Looked and tasted good, however. Dessert was a rich chocolate cake washed down with a good cappuccino. A glass of Talisker and one of Amaretto to finish off a commendable meal. Good restaurant - we recommend!
