I had a burger and chips and it was pretty f---ing fit! I think I had fish n chips later in the week! MY FAVE! The other visits have been purely in search of one thing...a kebab! YUM! You can't really get anything like a good kebab in America (that I've found) and I enjoy them! A little lemon juice, ketchup and mayo! It's the great ending to a night out or sitting around my friend's kitchen table having a few glasses of vodka and a spliff! He is a Fallowfield legend and meeting him is a rite of passage for University of Manchester students. The food? Couldn't tell you to be honest. I have never eaten it sober. At 3am after an unholy amount of alcohol it tastes divine. I think I may have once declared "this is the best thing I have ever eaten" of a chicken kebab. But who cares? Half the people in Kebab King aren't even eating, everyone is just there for the "banter"!

He will even say this if you are waiting to pay, or as he hands you your kebab. It may be all he can actually say. As for the all important food, its damn tasty and comes to a few quid or less no matter what you have. The seating area is comfortable if you're lucky enough to get the cushioned seating. The opening hours are good, they're open until 10 pm daily, although Pizza Express across the way does open an hour later at the weekend and it would be nice to see them follow suit here too. I did find the food expensive for what it is, as of October 2024, my meal came to £15.20, which I find to be rather expensive for fast casual, and that doesn't include extras such as drinks and Perinaise. The prices also seem to be rising out of control, even in the current climate, they seem to be putting their prices up every couple of months, much more frequently than rivals. Despite being a chicken restaurant, they don't offer regular mayonnaise, so you'll have to choose between their vegan alternative or pay extra for their Peri-naise (mayonnaise mixed with peri-peri sauce) I ordered my usual Nando's order, which would be a Chicken Butterfly (medium spiced) with peri-chips and spicy rice, the manager who took my order had good knowledge of allergens and the menu and explained that there had been some changes to the menu, he used his tablet to confirm my food would still be ready to eat. My food came out very quickly, by the time I'd got my cutlery, sauces and water, it was pretty much ready. I was pleased with the quality of my food, the chicken was cooked well, and the fries were seasoned well, I would have liked slightly more rice though but the portion size with the fries and chicken was good. One of my guests ordered a chicken Ceasar salad with the peri-tamer, adding avocado, he was very complimentary towards this. The chicken portion in the salad was again generous. 4* - This is obviously a good Nando's and a great addition to the town of Bury, while I don't really think it's value for money and I hate the fact they refuse to provide regular mayonnaise, I would return again.

I became a regular here back in 2020, with this being one of the first Nando's locations to re-open for dining in, in Manchester when the government restrictions were relaxed. The new ordering system is pretty simple. Scan the QR code and fire away. If you have an allergy, you are able to speak to a manager who can talk you through their allergy process, which includes cleaning down the grill and preparing the order separately. The restaurant and toilets are clean, the vibes around the restaurants pretty cool and I much prefer this from an interior point of view, compared to their Piccadilly location. The staff are pretty friendly too. Food quality is generally pretty good and average for Nando's, I have had a couple of minor issues such as the chicken being slightly overcooked but I do enjoy my usual order: Medium Chicken Butterly (I miss the old coconut and lemon sauce!), with peri chips and spicy rice. I do think using the whole restaurant at busy times and introducing a much better queuing system (they strangely got rid of a QR code-based one lately which I liked), but this is a pretty good Nando's location. At night however, it can become a bit lively with large groups of drunk and sober customers popping in for some quick chow. As for the food itself, we're talking about edible and filling (rather than tantalising) kebabs, biryanis, dansaks and madras. The close proximity to Manchester Academy, Contact Theatre and Big Hands make Abduls an ideal destination for grabbing a take-away after a gig, show or club night. Donner meat is grim but a good chicken or lamb kebab is phenomenal. My favorite is the spicy minced lamb, up north referred to as the Seek kebab, and usually called a Kofte in the south of England. Where Kebab King and Karachi Spice begrudge having to make you anything that takes more than a few minutes, Raj are happy to spend the time making your kebab actually nice. And their Seek Kebab is a class above the others in Fallowfield (perhaps excluding Abduls). Spiced with excellent herbs and spices and only £3 for a large, I would recommend Raj anytime.
