We visited almost every assisted living location in town for my father who could no longer receive…read morethe care he needed at home. After touring many of places, we decided that Avista was the best fit and it was only five minutes from our house. Initially, after looking at some older reviews we were concerned, but as I understand it perhaps about a year ago, this facility changed hands to the current owner, Avista. Avista, who runs many facilities across several western states has brought to the table, the resources and oversight this location needed. As a result, it appears that most of the past staff (and practices) have changed for the positive. Something that you discover during a location search is that only some assisted living facilities can care for an individual who needs more or specific attention. Further, we realized that many places can only accept residents who are capable of much more independent living. Those locations were nice and one even had a bar and happy hour but if you live in a place like that and eventually need more care or assistance as you age, you will need to move out and into another facility that can offer that care. Avista, on the other hand, can handle residents' care throughout a much broader range of physical and mental healthcare needs as those needs change. We moved my father into his studio apartment which looks much like an apartment you would rent anywhere although there is no stovetop (for safety); but does have a microwave, sink, and refrigerator. There are two floor plans; studio and one bedroom. My father was in a studio and had plenty of space. The apartment is yours to furnish and decorate as you wish and you are encouraged to bring whatever will make you comfortable within space limitations. The bathrooms in each apartment are large and wheelchair accessible. The showers are large enough to accommodate a wheelchair if needed. The actual building floor plan is ideal. A bit difficult to describe, it is one single level arranged in a quadrangle. The hallway is very wide and one continuous space that spans the entire building with apartments arranged on both sides. This makes it easily accessible to both staff and residents. Many residents walk and do laps inside the building as part of their exercise routines. There is a beautiful central courtyard with real grass where, on more temperate days, residents can hang out and have barbecues or other activities. How they keep this space continuously green, even during the height of the summer here in Lake Havasu is a mystery and I am sure requires some kind of advanced greenskeeper skills or magic. The dining room is situated at the front of the facility and nicely laid out. They serve three meals a day but if you are hungry food can be requested at any time. I had a few meals there with my father and the menu is diverse even though culinary staff are required to attend to residents' varied dietary needs. Residents are able to select menu items beforehand or not. And if there is something you absolutely do not like on the menu, there is an alternate short menu of soups, sandwiches, burgers, etc. from which you can select. We felt that the staff really do put a lot of themselves into Avista. In a world where some employees' mentality is: "not my job." Contrastingly, the entire staff (including leadership) at Avista help out with tasks that are not associated with their specific job description and are there during off-hours to ensure. This refreshing teamwork approach helps the staff truly understand what is going on and translates to better care for residents and upkeep of the facility. Just a general comment regarding staffing. In the current environment, businesses of every type are having more than a challenge finding and retaining quality staff. But I feel that Avista (at least here in Lake Havasu) is actively defining its talent requirements and acting to fill those gaps. Other positive aspects: -Accepts pets. -Perhaps similar to other assisted living facilities, they arrange to have doctors and other external caregivers come to visit residents instead of them traveling to doctors' offices. -They do have a shuttle to take residents to appointments. -They do have some activities and at the time of this writing, they have just hired a new activities director after an extended talent search. My one recommendation to make an already great facility better is to create a space for residents to work out or receive physical therapy from the many physical therapists who come in almost daily to work with residents. Bottom line; Avista is clean and tidy and yet still "homey". The staff is on top of every aspect, communicating well with families, and making sure residents are safe and happy.

PLEASE READ BEFORE DOING BUSINESS WITH JASMINE PLACE/ENLIVANT:…read moreWhen we first contacted Jasmine Place for a tour, Larry was so kind and helpful. He gave us a virtual tour first, then we came in to see the place with my mom. It looked nice & staff seemed friendly. We moved her in that week. Larry moved on to another job soon after and the place went downhill fast. My mom complained about the horrible food, the lack of response when she called for help with her call button and how rude the staff was to her. Many times she would have me on speaker phone and I would hear how rudely the staff would talk to her. Unacceptable! They are constantly understaffed because no employee will stay for any extended period of time, which says a lot about how Enlivant treats its employees. It came to light that they were overdosing my mom with anti-anxiety meds - one that should be given every 4-6 hours was given to her hourly. This caused her to have delusions and hallucinations. When we asked for the log that shows dates, times and meds given, no response. Emails went unanswered for weeks. We would follow up but no one would follow through. There are countless other incidents but not enough space here to type them all. There are no activities, outings or anything fun for the residents. They all sit in the front room watching tv or they stay in their rooms. Occasionally someone will work on a puzzle. I rarely write reviews but I wish someone would have written an honest review before we moved my mom to Jasmine Place. They have no clue how to care for the elderly with compassion, kindness or even basic courtesy for another human being.

With no family in the area, it was comforting to know they were finally in an assisted living verse living on their own at home. Every employee I met was kind and helpful. Nicole was a primary aid to them. She is truly an angel. She even brought my aunt clothes and undergarments for both after she noticed the worn condition of what they had. She was always available to answer questions for me. I hope Jasmine Place knows what an asset she is. My uncle passed away and my aunt was moved out of state to be closer to family, but I am forever grateful to Jasmine staff for being there for them when they needed it.

I have not seen my mother this happy in 3 years which is all due to the staff. From the moment she arrived, the staff made her feel welcome and valued. They treat each resident like family, always patient, kind, and attentive. She participates in all the activities they provide. The facility itself is spotless and beautifully maintained, with plenty of engaging activities that keep residents active and socially connected. I especially appreciate how the team keeps me updated on Mom's well-being and always takes time to listen to any concerns. Thanks to Vista Pointe at Lake Havasu City, my mother is thriving and genuinely happy -- and I have peace of mind knowing she's in such good hands. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a caring, supportive home for their loved one. Shawn Cole was so helpful I was able to get her into the facility in 9 days. They have truly been a godsend.
