Having to provide photo ID, that is scanned and saved on file, seems a bit OTT to buy a pint. I guess it stops under 18s getting in. It also stopped a wedding party getting in, 2 senior citizens and 2 lads who must have been 40. But they did let in a lady who was so so very drunk she needed help up the steps, was pole dancing on a pillar and generslly falling over. But she did have photo ID so it's clearly fine. Afterasll, Policy is Policy! The decor inside is fine. The outside courtyard area curiously reminds me of a village train station platform. read more

Also known as Heebies, this place is super cool for the 'in-crowd' in Liverpool. Like Bumper, it tends to be not my sort of scene due to the huge amounts of youngsters, but it is not without its charm. Stretching over 3 floors, it manages to fill them all, and is fit to burst on a weekend night right up until closing. (At which point the cries from the general public either sound like 'Bumper!' or 'Magnet!' - depending on how old you are) To be honest, the last few times I've been I ended up in the basement, clambering on a sofa and dancing in that drunken 'I'm singing to the crowd and punching the ceiling cos I f-ing love this song' kinda way. They do play good music, and have built their reputation on it. My only problem was when I realised through a drunken stupor one night that they were playing all the same songs as you would find in the Raz, only this was a more upmarket venue. IN fact, I firmly believe that Heebies, given long enough, will become the new Raz. Already there is sweat (or condensation - whatever) dripping from the ceiling and masses of bodies jostling to get to the bar or the dancefloor, as well as a sizeable queue down the street all night. If the other floors play different types of music, I've never noticed it, but as you work your way up I think I can safely say the party atmosphere gets less frenzied. There is also the benefit of an outdoors courtyard for the smokers, and an outdoors stairwell to get to the top floor, although I am convinced someone is going to fall off there if they haven't already. Drinks are reasonable but not as cheap as they could be. Watch this space. read more

This is one of Liverpool's favourite nightspots; everyone from students to footballers enjoys a drink and a dance here and with good reason. The music is consistently cracking (funk and dance classics upstairs, indie anthems in one of the basement sections and northern soul in the other) the decor is cool and understated and the crowds are always after a good time. As much as I love it here and as great as I genuinely think it is there are a few issues that I feel should be highlighted for the sake of newcomers - 1. The basement gets very crowded very quickly and you can find yourself gasping for fresh air amongst the thronging bodies shaking the strains of Stevie Wonder. 2. If you do go outside for a breath of air and you're not a smoker then beware as the courtyard smoking area is blanketed in tobacco-y smog. 3. The drinks are not very cheap. We're talking £5 for a double vodka and coke. That sort of not cheap. read more

Many moons ago this was the cool place to drink when it was confined to a dark cellar space beneath Seal Street but has since bought into its own hype as the place to be, cramming people in to create a less than friendly atmosphere. Heebies has become a bit complacent with its music policy, relying on the same old Northern Soul and 60s classics but it does host regular live gigs often in the courtyard space found out the back. The cellar space is still the area of choice for those who like to party and descending the stone steps beneath the mess of Seal street on a saturday night can make you feel like your going to a real underground venue. read more

My mates all hate Heebies and there's been times when I've had to agree with them. The music can get repetitive, time it wrong and you'll be stuck outside in a queue and every so often the club will either be packed with idiots or deader than Gandhi for what seems like no observable reason. Then I realise that my chums could be Olympic gold medallists for moaning so I ignore them, and you should too. In parts resembling Hefner's bunker, in others looking more like the back of the school bike sheds, the club is full of corners and characters. One night you'll be convincing somebody you're a cobbler, other times you'll meet your old teachers. The drinks may not be cheap but at least you don't have to pay to get in, and the fact there's an abundance of bars means you'll always be holding a liquid-filled container of some sort. Another thing that could condemn the place in my mind but fails to, is that it's a black hole. I've lost a watch and a jacket here. I know people who've lost more. These things are never intentionally stolen (who wants my tat?), it's just that a surging crush of people pouring in and out aren't the best choice of guardians. As I said, this doesn't sour the club in my eyes. If you want to bumble you body about amidst Motown favourites and rock and roll classics, groove on down to Heebies. It won't bite. read more

I have yet to come up with an answer to the question......what makes this place so damn great? I find it hard pressed to find a more suitable venue to kick start a night out in Liverpool. The atmosphere always is electrifying, the crowd is fantastic. It always transpires that the courtyard is oh so hospitable. Miraculously every time I have been here the weather has bee fantastic allowing one to gaze at the stars and enjoy the comfort of an icy cold beverage surrounded by the laughter and merriment of fellow sapiens. Now it might sound strange but I believe that unlike restaurants venue/bar establishments score more points for hospitality rather than the product offerings in this case beverages. I couldn't care less on price points or quality of beverages in here. It is the atmosphere and crowd that keeps clawing me back in. I have humbly accepted my fate to such claws and will continue to do so in the future. So get there for about 10pm and let the fun begin!!! read more

Located on Seel Street, seemingly the cluster of Liverpool nightlife, Heebie Jeebies is definitely a firm favourite amongst Merseyside locals and students. Housing two separate venues, one a kind of basement club downstairs and the other a more relaxed upstairs bar. Sometimes you have to pay to get into either/or, which can be a bit confusing if you lose friends (see Lime Bar in Manchester for an equal problem). The courtyard is very popular in the summer months for a cool-off and obviously with smokers also. The actual club area is very cool, full of exposed brick which I'm always a fan of and the music is staggeringly great. There's retro mixed with indie chart music and it works a treat. It's actually rather a cheap night out too, plenty of special offers with certain bottles of beer only costing £1. A few bars are available so you're not always waiting ages for your drink, there's plenty of comfy furniture installed for when your legs get tired and you can find tons of live music here, from indie to jazz, pop to rock. Okay, so I didn't have to row here, unless riding the tide of people looking for the next stop on their crawl counts, but I've never had a bad night. It's got a great eclectic range of music which although it doesn't vary much week to week is perfect to dance to. The descent into the low brick arched basement where Paint it Black usually belts out to a crowd of happy drunkards is one which you should indulge in. Upstairs is a bit more varied in style and opening out into a central courtyard, spot the Lamb-Banana which is watching down on you (not a bit creepy!) Drinks are a bit pricey if you don't choose wisely, but sambuca shots are £1 so if you're a bit strapped for cash perhaps a good shout. They also hire out the upstairs for free for events and having the bar to yourself before they let the rest of the punters in when it gets to capacity downstairs is definitely a bonus! read more

Heebie Jeebies has a reputation for being cool, from the interesting layout of the place to the live music in the courtyard and the general feel good atmosphere. In the opinion of some fellow reviewers the lure of this establishment has faded and to an extent this may be true for those who have been in the area for a lengthy period of time, but if you are new to the area and are searching for an exciting bar/club to spend a few hours in at the weekend then you cant' go wrong here. Heebies used to be a warehouse cellar and it still feels cramped inside however this comes with territory of most bars on any given weekend so it can't be a cause for complaint. The atmosphere more than makes up for the lack of space and the music is top quality. From the moment you descend into the lower floor area you are hit by a wall of sound, but this wall is jazzy and you are more likely to jive than anything else which is by no means a bad thing even if it can lead to a certain level of embarassment. As well as the excellent DJ's there is also a variety of great local, live music at Heebies and I have seen numerous new talent in the courtyard and the outdoor area makes it feel like something extra special. I have nothing bad to say about Heebies, but if I were to be picky I would comment on the awful attitude of the bars' door staff. The bouncers often refuse people entry on no valid ground and can be rude and agressive when searching people. Heebies is a great spot which really reflects the personality of Liverpool as a city so don't let the door staff deter you because once you have negotiated the minefield that is their attitude you will have an excellent evening. read more

Heebie Jeebies is one of my favourite places to go to on a night out in Liverpool. It is actually two separate venues, one more relaxed bar upstairs and another one in the basement downstairs. You have to go right out of one to enter the other, which can be a bit of a pain when you are trying to find your friends (I've learned always to specify if people mean upstairs or downstairs when I'm making plans to meet there). Upstairs there are a couple of bars with seating areas and a courtyard which is always busy in the summer when it's dry (and busy with smokers in the winter and when the weather isn't so good). The club in the basement has brickwork archways separating the seating areas from the dancefloor, and they've installed some booth like seating alongside the dancefloor which is great to give your feet a bit of a rest. The music played is generally good, everything from the latest indie hits to 60s girl groups. The bar prices are good too with promotions like £1 bottles of Stella. read more

Heebie Jeebies is one in a long line of bars and clubs on Liverpool's Seel Street. However, its sheer coolness makes it stand out from the crowd. Situated just below street level in a basement bar, Heebie Jeebies has a certain cave-like quality to it and this nicely sets the tone for a smashing night out. As vics said, it is a pretty trendy hangout and there's many a shocking haircut to be seen! However, beneath all that, you can't escape the fact that Heebie jeebies is a damn fine live-music and club venue. There's the usual selection of drinks to be had but the bar staff are extremely friendly and the general clientele are looking to have a good laugh as opposed to a fight! This place is wicked - I've been twice before but always stayed in the lowest basement level, which is lots of fun but gets very busy. I think if you're as pissed as everyone else this is ok but as I was bordering on sober I wasn't really into it. They have some great toilets though with sofa's in which is always fun. There are lots of bars in heebyjeebies which is good - they just seem to pop up all over the place. They also have afun seated area. Last time I went I went to the upstairs bit which was good I think its a case of students downstairs and everyone else upstairs. They were open till 3 on the friday apparently its 4 on a saturday. They played some disco remixes which was fun for dancing the night away to. I had a really good time in here - didnt actually buy any drinks as I was already well away. so not too sure of the prices. It was good that they had a courtyard upstairs so any smokers had somewhere covered to go. It was £5 to get in. read more

This is great little bar to go to if your up for a night out that isnt the same old usual type of music, atmosphere or company as everywhere else. The best part of Heebie Jeebies is that yoiu literally have to go underground. There are a couple of bars, so you dont have to wait ages to get served. There are old brickwork archways and alcoves which add to the character of the place, as does some of the plush furniture dotted around the place. If you wander around, you might find that comfy couch in a hidden alcove that is ideal for you and your mates. there is quite often bands playing, and these are a wide range from rock, indie, to jazz. The bouncers were awful. We was thrown out the queue when we was at the front of it just for asking 'how long will it be mate because i need the toilet' The bouncer swore at me and my friend and pushed us too one side. Very rude and i would not go back there again. The bouncers need to lighten up, quit taking their jobs so seriously and gain a personality!!!! read more

One the best places in Liverpool. All you can really say is you will have a good night. The music is spot on and makes for a good dance. The drinks are a fair price as the surroundings are pretty cool, and heebies does attract some celebs and some well known bands. Overall a great student club set on three floors, it caters for most, downstairs being for a good dance and upstairs for a quiter drink. There is a courtyard also if its not to cold, and ideal for smokers!! read more

This is the place I have been recommended the most for a night out since I've been living in Liverpool. Everyone says how great it is! I do think it is a good place for a drunken night out- it's really fun and friendly with a great atmosphere and good drinks promotions. You'll probably bump into lots of people you know if you stay long because everyone seems to pop in during the night. It's very studenty so that may not be everyone's cup of tea. I don't think I could spend the whole night in here but I think going in for a bit during a night out is great. read more

Heeby Jeebies seems to be the 'in' place in Liverpool these days. The place is HUGE and also PACKED on a weekend night too packed sometimes to enjoy, but it's much less crowded in the week. Drinks are average price, music is good, there are many different rooms and floors to explore, which can get a bit confusing after a drink and when its busy! Most people I know love it in here, for me the music isn't what I go out to dance to, but its a great place to start the night off and a guaranteed good night out! read more

Another bar in Liverpool id recommend going to. The music was great, the prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was cool. We had a few drinks upstairs before venturing down into the basement to the club. Cant remember if we paid to get in but it wasn't much if we did. The basement had very low ceilings and loads of little alcoves to get lost in. It got very busy and sweaty as the night went on. Again the music was really good downstairs. The downstairs in heebie jeebies is the best! I think they're old bunkers, similar to the downstairs in the Jacaranda. They play all sorts of music from old motown to cool indie from the 70s and 80s and odd remixes. One of the annoying things though is that if you lose a friend downstairs it's hard to phone them because of the lack of signal! The drinks are quite cheap too. read more

This place is brill I think didnt know it exsitsed till early last year when a friend took me.. The music on the different floors is great there really is something for everyones taste.. It does get quite warm inside because of all the people in there but the court yard in the centre of the building is fantastic for going out for fresh air or to sit and talk to friends.. Heebies is a pretty decent place to go to. There is downstairs which is old brickwork and very oldy worldy, but still is a good place to have a night out in. Upstairs is more of a traditional bar with a courtyard to the side, i usually stay upstairs as it is a bit more social and lively. The courtyard is always busy though obviously not when its raining. They have some good music on there for all types really, though it mainly caters to indie music. It is very studenty and as such it has some good drinks offers especially before midnight you get bottles for a pound which is definately a good reason to go there in itself! read more

If you are in liverpool City Centre you have to go to Heebie Jeebies on a night out . It has three floors all of which get extremely busy . It has live bands playing and plays alot of indie music, extremely hip dress code and cheap drinks. Friendly bar staff and people . Easy to get to . read more

Not going to write an essay on this place as most people have probably covered all that ground. It's a quality place and I like the range of music. The courtyard is great when the weather plays ball. The drink can vary wildly in quality and price but is mostly at the good end but not always cheap haha. Comboing this place and Mojo up the way is never a bad line up. read more

Used to be a nice bar, good music and atmosphere. I arranged to meet some friends there last Saturday night. Unfortunately as previous reviews suggest the bouncers are far from friendly. They demanded photo id, which I didn't have, so I wasn't allowed into the club. When I turned back to ask if that policy was enforced every night, they said "Oh for ** sake, what do you want now?" Not nice. Apart from that, I go out in Liverpool regularly and can't think of one other bar that enforces this policy. Amounts to a blatant infringement of civil liberties. I don't want to carry my passport around with me everywhere, and I'm even less inclined to have it scanned. So in future I won't bother with Heebies - plenty of other bars, it's their loss not mine :( read more
