My husband loves his (rubber) shoes. He takes care of them like they're living creatures (he should, they cost much more than my lowly pairs); he keeps them in individual bags, sprays deodorizer on them after every use, uses our kids' baby wipes to wipe off any dirt, and inspects all of them at least once a month to check on their condition.
So when the soles of his beloved Jordans were falling apart (six years after we bought it, to his credit), it was an emergency. Our nearby shoe fixer just won't do. Good thing some of his fellow shoe-holics recommended this place that specializes in fixing "sole separation." Yes, they have a proper term for that. So we took the long trip to SM Megamall and hubby entrusted the care of his beloved pair to Heel Sew Quik. The price was a little steep, but the staff there reassured him that the shoes would be good for another 10 years after they glue the soles back.
The next day my husband got his shoes, and his verdict: they were good. The OC in him complained that the glue seemed too tight and that the price didn't even include cleaning, but overall, he was satisfied. Now we know where to bring his "babies" the next time something happens to them. I hope they open up a branch here in the south though. read more
