We ran into some roadblocks with one seller that accepted our offer and then dragged his feet on signing the P&S for several weeks. Ultimately, we had to walk away. With Vena's guidance, we worked through that issue and secured another property within a week even in the competitive market. After that, we had to meet the new seller's one-month timeline to close, and Vena quarterbacked all the communications between the seller's agent, our lawyer, and our lender to an exceptional extent. We never felt like Vena pushed us toward something that didn't fit our needs in terms of space or finances. Plus, with each of the many properties we viewed, Vena showed her expertise in spotting issues that would mean unreasonable costs or compromises. I would wait days for answers and had to follow up multiple times just to get basic information. When we scheduled a tour, she didn't even confirm the showing until we reached out two hours beforehand. She confirmed 3:15 p.m., but we told her we were driving from out of state and traffic would put us closer to 3:30. When we got there, she acted like we were late and told us we would have to reschedule. The showing itself was just as bad. She showed up in a graphic sweatshirt, didn't greet us professionally, and barely explained anything about the apartment or application process. When we asked normal questions, she was dismissive and impatient, even sending texts like "..." as if we were bothering her. Since she gave us almost no useful information, we had to contact management ourselves. The application process was where it got even worse. After we completed the lease, she told us on 4/20 that we needed co-signers, then disappeared for the rest of the day because she was off for "the holiday." She was rude and unhelpful to our co-signers, including my friend's mother, whose first language is not English. I asked to speak with her by phone so we could get on the same page and I could help walk our stressed-out co-signers through the process. She refused and said, "I don't need anything from you. If the co-signers need anything, they can contact me directly." Our co-signers were already overwhelmed because of her lack of guidance, and she still couldn't be bothered to help. The next day, she gave us an ultimatum to get the new paperwork signed by 2 p.m. or she would refund our deposits and pull the application. When I told her to go ahead and pull it (because I didn't want her getting the commission for doing NOTHING), she suddenly claimed there were other pending applications and that we wouldn't be able to reapply. We called management directly, and they confirmed we were the only application........ Overall, Michela made this process SO STRESSFUL than it needed to be. She was slow to respond, dismissive, rude, unhelpful, and misleading, and SO UNPROFESSIONAL. I would absolutely not recommend working with her, even our co-signers commented on how horrid it was working with her.

I would suggest that when there's showing happening with another agent and when other people are sending applications, that agent could at least notify their colleagues. Also update all information on a timely manner. If multiple applications have been sent and being reviewed, how could another agent still be scheduling tours with other potential renters? This is not making any sense, unless someone was skipping the process. If the current agent could inform the renter that someone was ahead of the process and the unit could be gone any second, then the renter won't have high expectations. Those are some suggestions that could improve future renters' experience without upsetting them.

We've been looking for an apartment in the Somerville area for about 1.5 months and were getting no…read moreresponses from properties and brokers. We were becoming tired of the whole run around process and never hearing back, especially because we had what most brokers tried to push as a lower price point saying nothing was available in the area for that much. (We currently lived in a place less than what we wanted). While taking a stroll in another neighborhood in Somerville, we randomly pulled up the Zillow app and found out the location we were standing right in front of had a new unit available in the same time frame and price point we were looking for. It actually seemed too good to be true. We called right away and Ranjita got back to us immediately. We rattled off the list of questions we had about the place and she was able to give us answers right away and she promised to get back to us about the answers she didn't (which she did that night). I'm the paranoid one of the two and had /many/ more questions. It's crazy to think we were going to sign a lease at a new apartment we had never been to (thus is the times of covid and my fear of scams was elevated). Ranjita returned with more pictures and a great video walk-through. I was still nervous. She happily provided me with proof of identification and broker's license. She gave us the option to pay by credit card which made me feel safer about my personal funds. She got us the lease working with property management. This always takes time as the broker acts as the go-between and she did her best to get us the papers we needed. When I had a few questions or asked if we could change items on the lease, she listened, was helpful, and reassured me I wasn't annoying her with so many questions (I probably was, but she was nice enough to act like I wasn't ha). She was able to get us in to view the apartment after the previous tenants move out, so at least we were able to see it before move-in day. Quick process overall. Very responsive to emails. Easier than we thought it would be.

We were upfront throughout the process that we were about to get a cat. During the showing, a no-pet policy was never mentioned. We were encouraged to apply, and then after we paid the application fee, all of a sudden we were told that the owner of the unit would not consider any pets and the listings were then all updated to "cats not allowed," which seems very misleading. At its worst, it is a malicious "bait and switch" strategy... at its best it's very negligent and disorganized. Just be careful when applying. We were referred to Cambridge Premier Realty by a friend, but we will not be referring them to other friends of ours.

We were pleased with her quick feedback, providing us a wealth of options for places in the greater boston area. She was also quick to respond to our questions and concerns. She showed one location and was very informative, not only with the unit but the surrounding area and neighborhoods. When we decided on an apartment she helped tremendously by communicating with the realty agency for the landlord. You truly don't know the character of someone until shit hits the fan, and did it ever! We ended up having an issue with our apartment's quoted move in costs that totally resided in the fault of the landlord's company. Marika worked hard and fast on our behalf to rectify the issue, in the end saving us money! I cannot recommend Marika enough. Hopefully we won't need a realtor anytime soon, but if we did we would work with Marika first.
