I've only walked a couple of miles of the full route…read moreso far - it stretches from the Falkirk Wheel all the way to Edinburgh - but what I've seen is fantastic, especially on a sunny day. Aside from walking there are canal boats tours, cycling (with a few places you can hire bikes along the way), fishing and even segway tours which start from the Falkirk Wheel but which, I suspect, don't run quite all the way to Edinburgh. There's a lot to see along the route or nearby to it, from the Wheel to the Kelpies, the Falkirk Tunnel, the Slateford and Avon Aqueducts, and Linltihgow palace. If you're a better cyclist than me you could probably do the full route in a day but I think it would be a shame to rush it. Personally, I think it will become one of my favourite walking places (and maybe cycling too when I get a bike) and I'll explore new parts of it whenever I can.

The food was good, but Whitbread group that run the Beefeater have appointed some cowboy carpark attendants (LPS). Beefeater staff forgot to give us any carpark coupon, and the carpark does not have any appropriate signage. Beefeater staff send us a photo of one sign obscured in a tree. our complaint has been all the way to the top of Whitbread, Ms Alison Brittain CEO no less. They refused to provide CCTV or and other evidence requested. What is worse, as well as LPS cowboys harassing fake PCN notice charging us, our hire-car company has charged us £84 for the LPS letters they received. A terrible experience, we will never visit again. The management's attitude including Ms Brittain is complacent and arrogant to customers.

My family of four (all adults) shared a pierrade and a raclette. There was enough food for an army and it was all delicious! What could be better than melted cheese and freshly cooked meats? The sides of course! The pierrade came with salad (that was re-filled for us as needed), French fries and delicious dipping sauces for our chicken, duck, lamb, pork and beef. The raclette came with steamed potatoes and a tray of cured meats. So much food that they had to put another small table next to us for the sides! The real star of the meal, though, was my husband's Chicken Savoryade. It's almost like a deconstructed chicken cordon bleu. It's a chicken breast with Parma ham on top, nestled on a bed on carmelized shallots in a Marsala cream sauce baked with a decadent layer of gruyere cheese on top. The hubby ate every last morsel and threw in his perfectly crispy done French fries in the remaining sauce to get every last drop. Don't miss this place. The food is great (Indian). The rooms are good and reasonably large although a couple of the single rooms I didn't like because the bed was parallel to the door and you slept either facing the wall or facing the door with the light shining through the slight gap at the bottom - yes fussy but soon got to know which rooms to ask for! The decor of many of the rooms is different (different nice not different poor) - room 8!

The lounge is warm and inviting with a wood fire burning and lots of comfortable chairs to relax in. We ate in the bar, there is also a restaurant, great choice of food which was excellent. Again service was very good. Our bedroom was amazing! The king bed was very comfortable, the room spacious and beautifully decorated with an en-suite bathroom. I would absolutely recommend the Bein Inn Hotel. It is charming and welcoming, fabulous service and great food, perfect for everyone! Will definitely be returning. High level of cleanliness and even on a wednesday at 1pm there were a fair few tables full. We were seated and shown the menu, ordered a drink and the specials were explained with enthusiasm. This is a basic travelers lodge that has seemingly had a complete refurb in the lobby and restaurant areas, but the room we were given did the job, but felt quite tired and old. There really was nothing special about this place, the walls were paper thin and we could hear our neighbours loud and clear all the time we were in the room the same time they were in theirs. Luckily, once sleepy time came, everyone seemed to quiet down. We had dinner here and some prosecco and the dinner was pretty tasty. Everything seemed fresh and cooked well. I went with the fish and chips, a hearty portion that my boyfriend helped me finish eating. He ordered the Balmoral Chicken which was chicken stuffed with haggis, wrapped in bacon. One of his favourite things to cook and eat. He was well chuffed. For dessert, I ordered the sticky toffee pudding which came with ice cream and he ordered the cheese board. Both very tasty. Breakfast the next morning was your bog standard fry up which filled us up and gave us energy for the fun day we had planned after we left the hotel. I wouldn't necessarily come running back here, but for what we paid, it was worth it.

The 7 platforms are quite spread out so allow yourself a few minutes for navigation across bridges if you're unfamiliar with the station. Toilets are clean and beyond the barriers so you can leave it right up until the last minute to go - good if you're setting out on a long train journey and would prefer not to have to go on the train. (I don't often mind but as a solo traveller today I'd prefer not to have to haul all my stuff with me to the toilet, and asking someone to get up to let me out.) There's a small kiosk where you can buy snacks - this is before the barriers. Clearly identifiable recycling bins. The departure board can be seen clearly as soon as you walk in the main entrance, you don't have to go hunting for it. I've heard the car park is quite tiny for the amount of footfall this station gets but as a non-driver that's unlikely to affect me. As far as train stations go I'm quite happy with it.

I only took one picture, out our doors as the weather was amazing and many of the standard room pictures can be found on their website. For the price, I would stay here again, but honestly there are no frills with this hotel. It's merely a simple and relatively clean hotel near Falkland. The location worked well for us to St. Andrews and Falkland.
