Prior to that, the most recent rating was a 2-star review from a year ago. Now, suddenly, within the last two weeks, there has been a wave of four 5-star reviews--some even mentioning the Principal by name. For parents doing their research: please take note of this pattern. It is quite a coincidence that after a year of silence, the school suddenly receives a surge of perfect ratings just as enrollment season peaks and my initial detailed review remains unaddressed. It appears the school is focused on "padding" their online image to drown out a parent's honest experience. Interestingly, looking back at the school's history, there are older reviews (if you filter 1 star reviews) from 9 years ago documenting that previous administrations also solicited 'glowing reviews' from parents. It seems that instead of evolving, the school has maintained a long-standing pattern of prioritizing image management over addressing the root causes of parent concerns. A sudden spike in positive comments doesn't erase the documented favoritism and safety concerns I've detailed in my original review below. [Original Review Below January 2026] I truly wanted to support this school, but after a year, I had to withdraw my daughter for her own well-being. The environment is deeply toxic, specifically regarding a practice known as 'rage baiting.' This is a form of targeted harassment where students intentionally provoke or mock a specific peer until that student has an emotional outburst. Despite this being brought to the attention of leadership, the administration does little to intervene. There is a disturbing pattern of chronic absenteeism among students who were simply avoiding school as a survival mechanism because the environment had become emotionally unsafe. Leadership needs to conduct a serious internal audit to understand why students are choosing to stay home rather than face the daily provocation allowed within these walls. Furthermore, my daughter witnessed a disturbing lack of empathy and discipline in the classroom. While there are no special-needs students attending the school, students frequently use 'disabled' as an insult. If a student asks a question that others perceive as 'dumb,' they are mocked with offensive hand gestures simulating a disability. Teachers observe this and say nothing, allowing this culture of mockery to go unchecked. This behavior is compounded by clear favoritism. The principal's child is part of a dominant social group that appears 'untouchable' due to their father's position. While my daughter was labeled a 'bully' by the principal for a single reactive incident in an unmanaged classroom (kicking the chair of a disruptive "star athlete" student), star athletes and well-connected students receive preferential treatment regardless of their conduct. Despite the school's branding, we found no evidence of Christian values here. Their final interaction with us was a petty dispute over a book that was sitting right in front of them--a fitting end to a year focused more on tuition than student character. read more

Heights Junior High has been such a blessing for our family. The teachers and staff truly care about the students--not just academically, but spiritually and emotionally as well. It's clear that they are passionate about helping each child grow into a confident, respectful, and faith-driven young person. The small, supportive environment makes a huge difference. Students are encouraged to succeed, and there's a real sense of community where everyone feels seen and valued. I especially appreciate how faith is woven into everyday learning, helping students build strong character and a solid foundation for high school and beyond. The teachers and staff go above and beyond, always communicating well with parents and creating a safe, nurturing space for kids to thrive. My daughter has grown so much during her time here, and we are truly grateful for the impact this school has had on their life! All of the teachers have made such a big impact on her, and with this being her last few months on this campus, she's going to miss each and every one of them! I cannot put into words how much the Principal Troy Kimura has meant to my daughter. Troy has made such a steady source of strength, support, and faith, and has gotten my daughter through some very tough moments she and myself will always be so thankful for. He has made a lasting difference in my daughter's life, and we will always be grateful for the kindness and love he has shown. As a parent, I couldn't be more grateful for the experience my daughter has had during her first year at this school. From day one, it was clear that the leadership team has built a strong, positive school culture focused on high expectations, meaningful relationships, genuine care for students, and Christian values. The leadership team sets the tone for excellence, and it shows in every aspect of the school. The teachers and staff are not only highly skilled, but also deeply committed to supporting each student as an individual. My daughter has truly thrived this year, largely because of the personal connections she's built with her peers and teachers and the consistent encouragement she's received. Communication has been outstanding--I always feel informed about her academic progress and supported as a parent. The school also offers a wide range of opportunities for students to explore their interests, from sports and extracurricular activities to electives and mini-courses, allowing every child to find and explore their passion. This school has exceeded our expectations in every way. What really stands out is the personal connection they build not only with the students, but with the parents as well. All of my children have been part of the Heights Christian family, and truly, it has been one of the pillars of stability and comfort in our lives. The academic support is strong, but what has meant even more to me is the spiritual foundation they provide. The encouragement, transparency, and intentional spiritual guidance have had such a meaningful impact on my children and on me as a parent. Over the years, I have built such genuine relationships with the teachers, staff, and leadership. They don't just educate children. They care deeply about families. That has never been clearer than this past year. My husband tragically passed away, and I can honestly say I have never experienced the kind of support this community has surrounded us with. The love, prayers, consistency, and compassion they showed during our season of deep grief and mourning helped carry us through some of the darkest days. In many ways, their presence and support truly felt life saving for me and my children. No place is perfect, but Heights Christian has been a steady beacon of hope for our family as we navigate these uncharted waters of loss. The teachers are compassionate, attentive, and committed, and the academics are excellent. Beyond that, the friendships and relationships we have built with other families over the years have been such a gift. If you are looking for a school where your child will be encouraged academically, supported spiritually, and cared for with genuine compassion, I truly and wholeheartedly recommend Heights Christian. Outstanding experience! Mr. Kimura and his staff are all above the bar. You feel like family right away, and you know your kids are well cared for and loved here. Our boys transferred in and even though it was a difficult transition, they felt so welcomed by the staff and students and so did we as parents. I am very upset with the way my little brother was treated at this school! My little brother needs extra help in certain subjects such as science and math, and the staff here assured me they would be sure to take care of his academic needs, however, instead of helping him more they neglected him to the point where he told me he felt his teacher did not care about him as much as the other students. Hearing this broke my heart! I sent him here to get a Christian education and trusted the staff to be able to help him, and they made him feel like he did not matter; as if he was less important than the other students. When I addressed the principal on this issue she denied the fact that the staff were neglecting him, and her and the staff began treating him even worse. They avoided calls from me and I did not feel comfortable keeping him at this school. Please if you are looking to send your child here look elsewhere! The school seems to care more about making money then actually helping the students succeed academically! read more

After i was asked to write a glowing review of this school by the principal, I was essentially stabbed in the back. When my children were assualted by another student and assured that things would be taken care of, things turned dramatically for the worse. My kids were interrogated by the principal and had the story turn where my kids were blamed for everything. As a Christian, and as a Dad... stay far away. Parents become clicky and complain about the school all the time, and the administration runs with $$$ in mind under the guise of being a non profit religious educational institution. Im sure the powers that be will try to take this review off yelp, but beware. There were serious allegations of inappropriate conduct from a staff member to a child, and the school never even bothered to address and assuage any concerns from anyone. They act like they care, but its a facade of the highest degree. read more

I brought my child here in the 6th grade so my child could experience a JR High environment. We fell in love with this school. The music department is top notch. From concert band, jazz band and choir, Mr O, and Company are incredible. Super fun and great with the kids. The teachers are 90% awesome, I give them an A+, they really did reach, teach and work with the kids. They were great about keeping us parents in the loop as well. The school has a sports program, but I am not familiar. The campus is clean, and I love that Christian values were apart of my child's life. Thanks HCS read more

This school does not teach Christian values, they are all about the tuition, not the kids. My nephew went here 5th grade, and was bullied, assaulted, money stolen, harassed about anything and everything by other 5th graders. Problem was brought to principals attention, at least 5 - 7 times with NOTHING DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. She expelled my nephew, and his little brother who had nothing to do with that campus, or the bullying problem. He attended the Brea campus and was EXPELLED FOR NO REASON. This happened 2 weeks before school was ending. Staff can not even handle a class with 15 kids, THIS SCHOOL DESERVES 0 STARS and should refund $ paid for an education that was not given. read more

I am so happy to have my children enrolled at Heights Christian Schools. I have been sending them since preschool and we are so blessed to have them in the Heights family. The teachers are caring, supportive, and attentive, the campuses are clean and secure, and the academics and extracurriculars are above and beyond! Next year I will have two children at the junior high campus and I am very excited to see how they continue to learn and grow. The junior high does an amazing job at gently transitioning them out of elementary and then making sure they are well prepared for high school. They do this while providing a fun and safe environment, and encouraging and demonstrating Christ-like behavior. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone! read more

My son attended one year at this school, 7th grade. I found out about halfway thru the year he was continuously bullied by other students. He was embarrassed about it, which is why I did not know what was going on immediately. The kids and parents are very cliquish and unfriendly to newcomers.. and the staff isn't much different. I thought, as a Christian school, my son would be made to feel welcome. I met many times with the school principle who did nothing to help. My son has always been on the shy and quiet side, but now, he is even more quiet. I would describe some of the disturbing issues my son had to deal with, but don't want to go into detail, except to say it was disgusting behavior. There needs to be more laws protecting children from bullying, as these experiences can follow them throughout their lifetime. After meeting with the principle numerous times, along with 'evidence' of the.bullying... he still did nothing... NOTHING! So BEWARE, if you send your child here, you will have absolutely NO ONE on your side if your child is subjected to any type of issue that the staff feels undesirable to address. You and your child will be on your own.. and they will have NO sympathy. These 'educators' care about nothing except receiving their money. If I could rate the school ZERO stars, I would. read more

My family & I love Heights! Mrs. Neal our principal is absolutely friendly and on of the hardest working principals I have ever met! She is tough as nails and pushes to make this school to make it better than it already is every day. Most of all, she works hard to keep our kids safe no matter what, and I can't thank her enough for all she does for not just for my kids but for everyone! The teachers really do care about not just teaching but treat your kids like their own. Everyone welcomed, loved, and treated equally because everyone is family here. I am beyond disappointed in this school! My granddaughter came home crying to me about an incident that happened with a classmate. I was upset because I was not even notified by the teacher or the principal of the events that occurred. How am I supposed to feel when no one can explain why my granddaughter has bruises on her shoulder? My granddaughter is very shy and has a difficult time speaking out, and she also needs help with certain academics like math and English. This school not only denied to help her but also ignored the bullying that took place! I give this school zero stars! read more

My son was accepted into Height's Christian School, given a class schedule, locker etc.... and the day before school was to start I received a phone call that he could not start school. We were left looking for another school the day before school was to start. I will take this to The Department of Education. My rating for this school is "0" read more

My family and I really, really tried to love this school, but after seeing so many families leave for the same , I have chosen to write. I normally do not write reviews, but it's important to have reviews that are honest and not biased. First off, I am like any other parent who care and values about having quality education along with a Christian environment for my children. Heights for the most part has a great chapel program and service for kids. My kids have been given the opportunity to learn how to give and be compassionate. The teachers really go out of their way, and Mr. Clayes is one of the best teachers here at Heights. He deserves 10 out of 10! So why the one star? Unlike the gentleman who gave 5 stars in his review, my experience along with many other parents have not been so pleasant. Especially this year. I am happy to hear that his family have been blessed without any problems, but for myself along with a majority of parents that has not been the case. I have raised four of my children at Heights and have many years of experience at this school. Three now in high school who graduated this junior high years ago, and my youngest who attends the fifth grade. However, my son hit his head this year and got a concussion. The school called me telling me he got a "bump" on his head and that he was fine. Well guess what? When I brought him home, it wasn't just a "bump" but a serious concussion. And thank God I took him to my ER right away. We would have been in big trouble if I didn't. He was out of school for over a week and could not function, and the school had no sense of empathy or even apology for what had happened. Not even the principal! So yes-no school or "organization with people is perfect", but the safety and health of a student does come first. And when accidents aren't taken seriously, no matter how many years my family have been here, sorry you lose five stars from me and my family. read more

It's true from a lot things said about our school, sadly. Three reason I gave three stars is because of the principal, administration, but the teachers who work really hard, I would give them 10 stars if I could! I'm sure that can't be said for some parents but Mr. Clayes, Mrs. Bowen and Mr. Beckert are just a few people who make this school rock! I have three children who are now at the junior high. If I could I'd switch schools, but we are stuck because they have made many friends. Hopefully, there will be a come around. I am praying for one. But would I recommend this school as a father? Not anymore. It really isn't what it used to be, and sadly I am not sure if there will be a real change. The principal at the elementary school is just as incompetent as the junior high but at leasts smiles and welcomes people. Strangely Heights doesn't hire real principals who have the qualifications as a real principal in public schools. I wish it weren't the case. Save your money and invest carefully in another school that is worth every dollar and trust from your family. read more
