ATTENTION STUDENTS: YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE. Anyone who would like some respect as a paying customer and human, I would avoid this establishment all together. Decent food, shitty treatment. Ultimately, it's not worth it. I eat breakfast and/or lunch at heirloom 2-3 times a week due to proximity to my workplace. But after today I will not be returning. Less than 5 minutes after finishing my meal, still halfway into a mug of coffee, I was very publicly asked to leave to make room for others. I was told this was not affiliated with osu (which is fairly obvious) and therefore not a place where I was welcome. I was not camped out. I was just there to eat and enjoy some, admittedly sub-par, coffee. I wasn't asked if I was a student, it was assumed. Even after explaining I had just paid for a meal and wanted to finish my coffee, it was insisted I leave. The other patrons kindly apologized and I abandoned my still warm mug and table to those deemed to be worth the space. Strangely enough the older male at the table next to me, who had not bought anything, was left alone...but we won't get into that. Columbus has plenty of other great options within walking distance of this location. Go there. read more

The best food on the OSU campus. It's a bit more expensive than the fast food options across the street, or the campus-run cafes scattered throughout the academic buildings, but the upside is the food is a LOT better and a lot of it is locally sourced and organic. Heirloom does a great job preparing interesting types of food of a high quality, with regular specials and quality coffee, as well. Some personal favorites include the quiche, the regular side salad, and the breakfast burrito. As a museum cafe, this is as good as it gets. As a regular restaurant, it would still be really good. read more

I stopped into Heirloom on my way to work, ordered a breakfast sandwich (8 bucks, plus tip). Waited 20 minutes before I heard someone behind the counter say that their ticketing system was down and that they hadn't received any orders in the kitchen. I, along with another customer who ordered just before me, got up and left without our food. I was on my way to my office and couldn't afford to wait another 20 minutes. Both of us were very clearly waiting by the counter, and no one working ever asked us if we were waiting for our food--including the cashier who rung us up--even though they knew the ticketing system was down. Honestly love this place. Perfect place to study and get coffee and eat delicious, healthy food. I don't mind the prices because I know what I'm eating is good for me. 100% worth it and think more people should be eating here. But then again maybe not. Feels like a hidden gem. read more

This is as good as it gets when it comes to eating on campus. Yes it is more expensive, but that is to be expected when sourcing food seasonally and locally. Other perks are the staff is incredibly sweet and the location is perfect. I strongly suggest that you try the tortilla soup, it's heavenly. read more

I love this cafe. I go here all the time when I'm on campus. It can be a bit loud during the lunch rush, but, after that, it quiets down. The prices aren't cheap, but I think you get your money's worth. I've had the following: The Leafy Salad, Tofu Stir-fry, Big Salad, Flour-less Chocolate Cake, and the granola. Everything is good. You can also add tofu to any entree for a little extra. The service is also very good, and it's very clean. It's also recommended to spend $5 or more if you're using a credit card. read more

Heirloom blows Northstar out of the water and it's considerably less expensive. Owner of Heirloom, John Skaggs, is a long time renowned Columbus chef. His food is creative, high quality, simple, and delicious. You will not find a better weekday breakfast/brunch/lunch option on High Street. Well worth the hassle of going to campus and while you're there, stop into the Wexner Center gift shop, it's one of the best stores in Columbus. read more

My first visit to Heirloom was pretty satisfying. I'd heard nothing but good things about it, and I was glad to find that it lived up to the hype. I had the green chicken chili, which had a great mix of flavors. Some other members of my group got sandwiches that looked pretty dang tasty. I look forward to trying them in the future. read more

The food here is really fresh and tasty, for the most part. It's also a nice place to meet up with someone or get some work done when it's not busy, and if you get coffee in a mug, you get free refills. I tried the veggie wrap with a side of fruit today, and it was pretty tasty and filling. The veggie wrap came with salad greens, cucumbers, bulgar, and a lot of hummus. I had a hard time eating it with my hands without having some of the insides fall onto the plate, but my eating partner didn't care that I was a messy eater, so it was fine. The fruit salad was a medley of chopped pineapple, green apple chunks, and red and green grapes. In the past, I've tried a few other items. The eye opener burrito is usually really oily, but really delicious. The salsa that accompanies it has varied in texture and taste every time I've had it, but it always helps cut through the fattiness of the burrito. Definitely not an item for those who are health conscious. The vegan version is healthier, and pretty delicious too. I was tempted to get it today, but I decided to try something new. The tamale pie seems to be a hit since it usually sells out by the end of the day during the school year, but I tried it once and I thought it was decent. Not great, so I wouldn't get it again. I've had the quinoa bowl twice. The first time the food overflowed the bowl, and I was super impressed but the size and flavor of the dish. The second time there was less food, and the wild rice was really hard and possibly on the raw side. I wasn't a fan the second time around. The stir fry (both chicken and tofu) is tasty and fairly consistent. I like the addition of red cabbage because it makes the dish colorful. The ginger really comes through, which I like. The downside is that the dish is pretty greasy (they use butter), and I don't think that's what one expects when they order a stir fry. My friend once asked that it be made with oil, but she said that it came out greasier. The food is on the pricey side for what you get, so be ready to pay a lot for your meal. read more

The food is tasty, and the service is friendly, but not necessarily quick. We had the gyro, which was good but could have had a little more sauce, the spinach and bacon Mac and cheese, and a grilled cheese with raspberry jam. Perfect portions for lunch! I recommend the side salad instead of chips, it is really tasty. At busy times, tables can be hard to come by. I always keep this place high on my list for lunch when I am on campus. read more

Heirloom is surprisingly good cafe with a very friendly manager who doesn't chase off paying customers, like one review said. I never encountered that problem. As a patron who have limited time for lunch, it beboove me when I see some people occupying the table with Starbucks coffee and the books at the very busy lunch hour. When my boyfriend first said he was taking me to eat at the wexner museum I thought he was kidding. Once I saw the menu and tasted my food I became hooked. The breakfast stir fry is one of my favorite things on the menu and always tastes unreal. Salads are great, coffee is strong, and love the atmosphere. read more

The atmosphere and food would go a long way if it were not for the management. There is one female manager in particular who is very unpleasant to her customers and staff. The staff of student workers and chefs appears to be very on top of things and they treat customers well. The manager, however, snaps at customers and makes the entire experience very unsatisfactory. If they change the management, I may consider heading over again. Until that point, however, I will stick to other cafes on High Street, even if it is a bit of a walk from the Wex. read more

Heirloom has been a life saver for me in the four years I've been at OSU. I spend a lot of time on campus in the morning and early afternoon and I eat here ALL THE TIME for breakfast or lunch. I've tried going to different campus dining halls or restaurants and they just absolutely suck in comparison to Heirloom. Also I am 29 and don't have the metabolism of my peers and therefore can't eat fried food or garbage and still maintain any semblance of a figure. So this works out awesome because you can actually get some healthy options here. Not only that, but they're actually tasty. I've ordered a handful of things from the menu and everything has been super tasty. The coffee is good (yaaay!) but the iced chais are really heavy on milk and ice for the price. Cost is a factor, because this isn't cheap, but I'm willing to shell out of the extra money for better quality/healthy food. The only other complaint I would have is that it takes a really long time to get your food, even if they're not busy. When lunch time rolls around you can wait upwards of 20 minutes before you get your meal. I know they're small and inundated with people at lunch, but it sucks to have to make a mad dash across campus to avoid being late to class because I had to wait 20 minutes for yogurt and granola which theoretically should only take about three minutes max to put in a takeout box and give to me. Regardless, I love this place and eat here probably 3 or more days a week. read more

Heirloom cafe inside the Wexner Center is one of the few eateries in Columbus, if not the only one, that could conceivably survive when transplanted to Manhattan, to London, or to Hong Kong. The food is excellent, modern, fresh, tasty, well-prepared, never greasy, and has just the right emphasis on vegetarian and vegan dishes. Coffee and sides are marvelous and delicious as well. It has a university cafe theme, so you should not expect a fine dining environment; it is what it is, but to me this place is perfect for what it is. Expect to pay $9 for lunch and add a coffee and possibly a dessert item, and you'll have by far the best lunch possible in Columbus. read more

I won't be eating at this establishment anymore. The food is lackluster and doesn't make up for the poor service or high prices. The manager (Kimberly) is extremely rude, and it carries over to the wait staff. Every time I come here, I order food--very overpriced food, I might add. But I've been told I need to leave immediately to make room for other customers, even when there are other tables available. This is ridiculous. As a paying customer who buys exorbitantly priced food--$12 or $13 on average for a meal--I should not be rushed away and treated like a loitering undergrad who takes up space. I have never sat in here without buying something, but I'm made to feel like I don't belong there. I think that the manager thinks I'm an undergrad (I'm not; I'm an employee of the university) because she has come over and shooed me away just for drinking a cup of coffee after a meal. She also did this in front of other customers, which I think was meant to embarrass me into leaving. I'm sorry, but what the heck. I should be able to spend my lunch hour at a table if I've paid for a meal. Why wouldn't you just add more tables instead of treating your paying customers like dirt? The food isn't all that great (bland), and it doesn't justify the high price or Kimberly's lousy attitude. read more
