Every sample, every flavor seemed to be better than the one before. I eventually concluded that you could close your eyes and point and you'd get a selection you thought was amazing. Por suerte, aunque la Roma también tenga ese tipo de heladería, existe Helados Palmeiro. Explico: se trata de un "atelier" donde con mucho gusto y esmero se preparan helados como se hacían antes. O como hoy solo se hacen en casa: batiendo todos los ingredientes con paciencia. Se nota la calidad de las materias primas que eligen. Y el orgullo que Eugenio siente por sus recetas. Nata (el sabor más popular), vainilla, fresa (tan frutal y fresco!), mandarina (con un verdadero regusto al zumo de la cáscara de la fruta)... Y mi favorito: caramelo. No se trata de esa falsa cajeta a la que le llaman caramelo en las franquicias, sino de auténtica azúcar dorada o quemada, el aroma es único e inconfundible. Cómo hace para capturarlo es su secreto (uno de tantos). Eugenio mismo te atiende y siempre te saca una sonrisa. Primero con su trato y calidez cubanos, después con tu postre! También preparan brownies, pays de limón, queso, strudel de manzana y, sobre pedido, panqué cubano y flan napolitano. Los precios son medios: seguro hay helados más baratos, pero no de esta calidad. El hecho de tenerte que meter al mercado sí o sí para comprar tu helado le dan para mi un "no sé qué" de old school cool e inconveniencia deliciosamente maravilloso! Creo que Helados Palmeiro se merece su propia mención Yelp y no solo ser parte de las reseñas del Mercado de Medellín, que es donde se encuentra: las cosas bien hechas salen bien. Saben bien.
