Dr Koch is an amazing Dr. She actually listens and explains procedures. I doubt there is any better OBGYN!

Dr Koch is a great doct. Very knowledgeable and trustworthy. Really cares about her patients.

I had a terrible experience with this woman. Absolutely did not listen to any of my concerns, and talked down to me in a very condescending way. I had an appointment for 5pm, I did not see her until 6:30, no exaggeration. I have very abnormal issues which she said could be a more serious chronic condition. So, She had bloodwork done which came back abnormal, heard nothing from her office. About a month later a nurse follows up and asks if anyone talked to me about the results and tells me I need to retest. I retest, and never hear from the office again. Absolutely terrible doctor. DO NOT GO HERE SHE DOES NOT CARE. It's experiences like this that keep me from going to the doctor in the first place. Her assistants and nurses were very very nice though. The doctor is the problem here as usual. Edit to add: her intake is VERY strange. The young man who did my new inpatient was clearly uncomfortable and apologized many times. I would not recommend this practice. The dr. always run very late (every appointment I had took no less than 3 hours) which would have been tolerable if the office had not been so old and borderline dirty (at my last appointment, I saw a dead centipede on the floor) and not run by a bunch of 19-year-old PA trainees that turn over ever 3 weeks. Dr. seems competent but more concerned about teaching the kids than listening to patients. I had some very specific concern that I kept bringing up and somehow, four appointments (and about 12 hours) later, I was still at square one. It took a month to get a call back about an ultrasound, although some things were of concern and should have been discussed soon thereafter. read more

This office does not call or text you back. I needed to call them multiple times and beg them to make an appointment or even call.me for my lab results. They promise they would but I still didn't hear back. One time I went there and they said they were backed up and can't see me.and any other time waiting time in the patient room was over one hour plus the time I waited in lobby. Both Dr. Koch and Carissa are amazing!!!! Highly recommend Bala Women's Health for OB/GYN needs. Although wait times can be very lengthy at times, you truly see why once the doctor comes in the room. They deeply care about your needs and concerns and will spend the time needed with you. The office is very clean and up to date. All staff are extremely nice and caring. A PA student throughly reviews your history, fills in Dr. Koch and then they begin the visit. I love that they allow their students to be in the room to learn (with patients consent). Also love the portal where I can ask questions and see all lab work/visit notes. Any billing issues I have, their billing company has throughly walked me through every time (usually it is my insurance not covering the full visit which I understand may happen). All of my questions get answered and have never had any issue getting medications even if my insurance company is taking longer to approve coverage, the office is always willing to supply samples which is truly amazing. They always make suggestions on external places to go whether it is doctors, or places for ultrasounds, they allow you to choose any place and they will fax scripts or office notes/labs right away. I promise you will not regret going to Bala Women's Health and seeing Dr. Koch or Carissa. read more

I had the worst experience that left me with countless UTIs and medical bills in the last few years. I first went to Dr. Helene Koch's office in 2018 for a routine checkup; they pushed for unnecessary tests and suggested an IUD to stop heavy periods. I ended up with heavy periods for 6 months straight, spotting, and poking pains from the IUD inserted incorrectly until I had the IUD removed by another GYN because Amanda and Dr. Koch advised me to keep the IUD and "ride out" the symptoms. They wouldn't admit their mistake and ran tests; claiming a blood clotting disorder which came back negative. They made $10,000+ from my insurance for the IUD and they charged me $1,000+ for blood tests instead of pursuing my insurance for the remainder. I'm stuck paying bills, ER visits, antibiotics for UTIs/yeast infections/BV. My current GYN has verified that the IUD is incorrectly inserted and caused infections. To this day, Dr. Koch still tries to make me pay for their mistake. Run and never look back! read more

TERRIBLE experience. The office was like a zoo. Very chaotic and disorganized. I was being seen by the PA-c Amanda (she was very nice), but Dr. Koch very rudely barged into the room in the middle of my appointment without knocking only to ask the PA-c to fix something on her cell phone. It took 2 weeks to receive my test results. I had to call the lab directly to receive my test results. The patient liaison Jill left me a message on my portal saying I should call her ASAP to discuss my test results. I called her back and left her messages about 5 to 6 times and she never called back. I even left a message with the receptionist to relay this message to Jill and she still never called back. How can you tell a patient to call back urgently and never respond? There are so many gynecologists in the area. Do not bother with this practice. read more

I had an appointment here for my annual check-up. I arrived at the office about 10 minutes early because it was my first time there. I was able to quickly check in and fill out new patient paperwork. Despite having an appointment, I was not called back for another 45 minutes. That was annoying but I was in need of a check-up so I stayed. The staff in the back was kind and thorough. The doctor was easy to talk to. I was told I should get blood work from another center in a few days and they were supposed to send my information to that center. When I arrived at the lab, they didn't have my information at all. It was very difficult to get ahold of staff members at Dr. Koch's office. I made another call, because apparently I am a slow leaner, to make an appointment and schedule an ultrasound. I asked to be scheduled but I also asked for a callback from the doctor. The receptionist said she would make a note. The doctor never called me back but I figured I would still go for my appointment. I showed up, talked to the front desk people, and checked in. THEY NEVER SCHEDULED MY APPOINTMENT. The staff let me sit there forever and never mentioned that they didn't see my name. I was "checked in" but no one said anything to me about not seeing me on the schedule. The staff said I could "stay if I wanted" but I was honestly so upset with the lack of communication I had to leave. I am never going back. read more

Came for my first time, and I left absolutely traumatized! Extremely long wait times in the waiting room and in the exam room, and then an exam that was rushed, impatient, and painful, without my full consent, that left me in tears. It felt shaming, and they prescribed me a ton of medication without considering my own life or wellbeing or what I wanted. Don't even bother trying to call this office because they never pick up the phone either. Thanks for the trauma. read more

I want to be able to go back, but I just can't. Dr. Koch seems very knowledgeable & is a great doctor, but does try to prescribe anything & everything. Both times I've left with prescriptions other than what I intended to come in for. The pro of this: she absolutely listens to what you're saying. The con is that there's no other discussions of how to handle the issue. My biggest issue is the communication. Good luck ever getting ahold of the office! I've had billing issues & prescription issues, & have left countless messages without response or have finally gotten ahold of a person only to be on hold for more than 15min in which I just had to hang up. I've even tried sending email. I was finally able to get through when attempting to call every 20min this last time. Incredibly frustrating & unprofessional. Something is a bit off with this practice. A couple years ago, I had several visits which always seemed extremely rushed and disorganized. I was prescribed prescriptions as a first response to literally everything I mentioned. I ended up changing practices and nearly 2 years later get a call from them that I have an outstanding balance (after no calls, emails, portal notifications for 2 years...) I called for some additional information to understand how I suddenly have a balance 2 years later, and with a second call back, the balance suddenly changed to be half of what they originally told me.... read more

Hands down worst medical professional experience I have ever had. I have called the office many times trying to resolve billing issues and get test results and left countless messages, and I have NEVER ONCE gotten a call back. The only times I've spoken with a person are when I've gotten lucky and happened to call when someone picks up the phone. At one point I actually ended up having to go to a different doctor on an emergency basis because I couldn't get a response from her office. Also, I went to Dr. Koch for a routine annual pelvic exam and left with at least 5 different prescriptions, none of which I asked for. In addition the doctor asked me about my acne and I said I'm fine with how my skin looks and not interested in medically treating my acne, and yet she wrote me a prescription for acne meds anyway. In general it seems like her and her whole team are interested in pushing meds regardless of necessity. There are so many doctors in Philly, just pick a different one. read more

I had been traveling pretty far to get to my last doctor so I was excited to find Dr. Helene Koch's practice pretty close to work. Aside from a lengthy personal history/mental assessment during my first appointment, I was sold. Although, I did find the mental assessment for an OBGYN a little odd, but I guess it's been a while since I changed doctors. Dr. Koch and everyone else I interacted with were friendly and professional. I was really only looking for a doctor to do prescription refills once a year so I was content with my appointment. My issue is with the customer service for follow-up communication. A little over a week after my appointment, I received a voicemail saying that my test results came back negative and I only needed to call back if I had any questions. Awesome. They also mentioned they are still running a few other tests. So I received a voicemail this past Thursday requesting that I give them a call back about my test results. They left the (negative) results on my voicemail before, so this made me really nervous that something was wrong since they wanted to talk to me. I called back within minutes and left a message. Between Thursday and this morning, in sheer panic, I must've tried to reach them 4 or 5 times. You don't leave a message like that and then wait almost 6 days without any communication! I was finally able to connect this morning. Guess what? These test results were negative, also. I'm fine but my nerves are not. Why would they possibly leave a message like that and not get back to a person? Especially since I stressed in one of my voicemail that I was nervous about hearing the results. They could have mentioned that the tests were negative, but they wanted to talk to me as well. This could be an isolated incident and not the norm, but I need to think long and hard if this is something that I would want to potentially deal with again in the future. Perhaps a long drive and peace of mind is worth it after all. read more

I could go all day about how awesome Dr. Koch and her staff is. I have been a patient since 2013. I had alot of unresolved issues since my teenage years. After a few months at her practice, she listened and treated me effectively. Last year, on a routine visit, she saved my life. I had appendicitis and she had me rushed to the hospital and I had emergency surgery. She is a great doctor and recommend her to everyone! read more

Please save your time and money and do not visit this doctor's office. 1- They never ever pick up their telephone, even when you've left a million voice messages. So what are patients supposed to do if they have medical concerns that need to be addressed promptly?? 2-The office waiting time is ridiculous. Wait time is up to an hour which is unexplainable. 3- They took my lab work and sent it to the WRONG lab with was not covered by my insurance, leaving me with a huge bill that they did not even offer to help to pay, even though it was entirely their fault. It also took me almost 6 months to resolve this issue because of their extreme lack of communication. This is an office that ultimately just wants your money. If they really cared about their patients they would get back to them in a timely manner or even pretend to care, but they don't. Please do yourself a favor and just find another office. read more

Dr. Koch is awesome! She listens, she cares, and she knows her stuff. Before finding her I went to several doctors, urgent care, and even the ER for a reoccurring problem. I have been a patient of Dr. Koch's since 2013. She is the absolute best. She has helped me through 3 pregnancies and countless other issues I've had over the years. One issue was a skin issue that I saw several other doctors for and Dr. Koch was the only one who was able to resolve it for me. She is thorough, caring, listens, and makes sure that everything is taken care of. She does have students that rotate through the office but the core staff who has been there since 2013 (Amber, Savannah and now Amanda) are the best. I live in Jersey now but will continue to come see Dr. Koch for as long as I need to. read more

Please read reviews about Dr. Koch prior to making an appt. Otherwise you too will be left with a super high insurance bill. It is also hard to contact her office directly. You have to leave a voicemail and wait for one of her office assistants to call you back within 48 hours. In addition to a high insurance bill I was charged for a specialist visit (in error) and it took over 5 calls, 5 electronic messages and months later to receive a refund. I normally read reviews prior to patronizing a business etc. In this case I failed to do so and I am literally paying the price. I hope that this helps someone make the right decision. read more

Before I start, let me say this DR. Helena YOU WERE WRONG! And I'm so glad I didn't listen to you and got a 2nd opinion. Dr. Helena was the only Dr. Which is old school and her practices were out of date. During my routine Pap she advised me that I needed to get a Colposcopy due to my test results, she scared me, talking about if my results come back negatively I might need to start Chemo, YES CHEMO! she went on to say I might need to cut my cervix out, etc, etc. weeks later She called me back in to talk to me about my results. I waited 2 hours in the back for her, and when she finally walked in. she came in with 4 students. No apology for my LONG wait, no asking permission for the students to be in the room while we talked about my results. NOTHING. She starts talking in medical terms to me (but its really for her students) BUT made it clear to me by says "YOUR GOING TO GET CANCER" we have to act now, "YOU WILL NEVER HAVE CHILDREN" we need to schedule you to cut out your Cervix!!! This was the absolute worst way to talk to a patient. It took everything in me not to curse her out, instead, I told her she was rude, unprofessional and we were done. EVEN THE STUDENTS APOLOGIZED FOR HER ACTIONS, THEY FELT HORRIBLE BEING IN THE ROOM. I left in tears. The head nurse at the time called me the next morning apologizing. NEVER AGAIN. Oh and like I said you were WRONG. I don't have cervix cancer and I am a PROUD MOTHER OF A 6-MONTH-OLD BABY BOY. For anyone reading this, your experience might be different, but trust me when I say she's out of date and out of touch with modern practices. Dr HELENE KOCH has been my Dr for almost 10 years. My mother has been a patient of hers long before me and before that my grandmother was her patient. I've seen her since I was 16 and in a couple of months I'll be 26. I will not lie if you're booking an appointment expect to wait. However the wait is worth it! She is the only Dr that I know of that is willing to thoroughly check the body. I've seen multiple Drs in between and over a course of time but her skill is unmatched. I will not change her as my primary! I love her and her team because their like family. Their efficient welcoming and they're very on top of their job, especially Dr . KOCH's team when it comes to support. Also, almost all the women in my family is a patient of hers. Whenever I know someone is in the market for a new OBGYN I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. KOCH. read more

OK so first of all it was very easy to schedule appointment with Dr. Koch. That should've been a warning sign. I got to the office and received a very thorough examination along with questionnaires that I felt like had nothing to do with my overall GYN and sexual health. No she prescribed me a couple medications that I actually didn't need but OK I'm willing to try them to lose weight. Not that I really had a hard time losing weight she was suggesting that I take other medications to help me along the way. So I expected a callback for my test results and it's been four days and I still have not heard from them. I have tried to get a prescription for something that I needed that they claim they called in. I went to my pharmacy several times and called them and still no prescription Was ever called in. I tried calling again yesterday today several times and still got no answer. I am leaving her practice and I've only been there once. It is extremely difficult to find an OB/GYN that cares. I have no issue with her bedside manner it was actually very professional but the office itself leaves something to be desired. read more

Her staff is supportive and provides multiple methods of contact for her patient. She uses a portal and I am always responded to in a brief manner . This is a terrible practice. Every time I went in for an exam the doctor would try to prescribe me some unneeded medication in bulk (aka metronidazole for 6 weeks every day twice a day, for no reason). During the pelvic exam she was talking about how I should vote for Hillary Clinton, so inappropriate. When I left she gave me Hillary pamphlets and asked for my email to send me Hillary promotional emails. (I voted for Hillary but did not appreciate her pushy politics during a medical exam). I have an iud and I'm very happy with it, yet she kept trying to push neuvo ring on me...There were neuvo ring ads all around the office, leading me to think there was a conflict of interest. As a future DO it pains me to see such malpractice and inappropriate care. It is worth it to drive a little farther to an GYN that will treat you properly. I wish I could give 0 stars. I was desperate and wanted to see a Dr. ASAP. I looked on Zocdoc and she was the only one available, that should've been a sign. It was my first time in the office so they did the typical medical history thing which was extremely long for no reason...longer than most offices. Then, they slide in a mental health evaluation/survey which they make seem is part of your visit but really it's not; you will get billed separately for that later. Imagine getting billed for something you never asked for in the first place! First of all, who would go to an OB/GYN for a mental health evaluation and why is it not explained at the visit that it will cost an extra fee? Then during my examination there were 2 other individuals in the room- an intern and her PA? Why exactly, I'm not sure. 4 of us were crammed into a tiny examination room while I'm laying there naked with my legs in the air. Again, nobody warned or asked if that was ok with me. Getting my results was an absolute pain, I had to call the lab myself and was informed my results had been ready. Just a piece of crap office. read more

Dr. Koch has been my gynecologist for 19 years. She is a wonderful doctor and is very caring. This may sound weird but I look forward to my annual every year. She makes you feel comfortable, she listens to your concerns and offers solutions that meet your needs and she can make you laugh. I recall a time when I was going on vacation and I had a medical flare up , Dr Koch returned my call and made sure I had what I needed so I could travel with relief. She is there when you need her help. Her staff is extremely polite and willing to assist you in any way. It is not often that you find a doctor that treats you like a person and not just a number. Dr. Koch is one in a million... It's not hard to speak highly of someone that provides you the best care mentally and physically. read more

Each time I have gone to this office I have questioned my return, and finally this most recent visit will be my last. Both the PA and the doctor don't have the greatest bedside manor and it seems that the patient is not their first priority. They push so many medications and tests that it honestly seems like a scam. In all of my years seeing doctors, This has to be the absolute worst doctor's office ever. Every experience I have had there is unpleasant. They NEVER answer the phone or return phone calls. In order to talk to someone, I have to go online to make an appointment. Even at the office, I see them ignore the phone ringing. This past appointment, I had an appointment for 3:40. I arrived at 3:20. I watched numerous people go in the back before I did which is fine because I was early. At 4:15, I was still waiting so I went to the window and asked about the wait or should I reschedule as I can see they were backed up. The receptionist informed that I was next. 5 minutes later, Someone called my name and gave a half way "apology" about the wait. Took my blood pressure and placed me in a room at about 4:30pm. He informed me that I will be next for the doctor to see as she only needed to give me some quick info. By 5:15pm, I was still sitting there waiting as I could hear staff laughing and talking outside of my door. I called my husband in tears as I was very frustrated. By 5:30pm, I put my clothes back on and left. No phone call to apologize, to make sure I was ok or to reschedule. I will never recommend anyone to this office. Her or her staff do not seem to care at all. As a woman that struggles with fertility, I would think that she/her staff would be more caring and neutering but they could care less ! read more

I wish i didn't have to rate Dr. Koch poorly, but a recent experience has changed my opinion of this office as a whole. Her bedside manner was fine, and all of her staff were polite and knowledgeable. However my insurance requires that my prescriptions now be delivered via mail order. They just needed a confirmation from the doctor. After 4 faxes, from my insurance company and 3 voicemails from me, I still did not hear anything back. Thankfully I was able to have my pills rushed to the pharmacy, but only once. They have had no problem calling me from the same number to remind me to pay my copay (which I did). My experience was disappointing and I've been forced to change doctors so that I can work with someone I can trust to always be professional and responsive. This seems to be a common issue with Dr. Koch, according to her yelp reviews. I would never recommend Dr. Koch's office to anyone. read more

She put me at ease during my examination, answered all of my questions, and was open to my preference for natural, rather than pharmaceutical, remedies. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Helene Koch for nearly 15 years. I was referred by a friend after recently relocating to the area. My experience with Dr. Koch has shown that she is thorough, knowledgeable, understanding and empathetic. Only through her due diligence, did I find out I had uterine cancer. She took the time to explain my diagnosis and my options. She listened when I told her I wanted kids and referred me to wonderful oncologist at Fox Chase, and because of Gods grace, early detection and a new medication, I did not require chemo or a hysterectomy. I have been cancer free for more than 10 years. Dr. Koch is my gyn but she has also morphed in to my primary doctor too! she has been instrumental in me maintaining and managing my overall health. Her staff, Savannah, the PA's are all awesome. And while I will agree that sometimes the wait and/or the office communication can be a bit frustrating. Dr. Koch has on an occasion waived a co-pay because the wait was excessive and has introduced other methods besides the phone to reach out to her; like the emailing via the portal. I highly recommend Dr. Koch, she is a great doctor. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Koch on 3-15 at 1:15pm. I was very impressed upon walking into the office, the receptionist handed me my paperwork and I was doing my pre exam history all within 10 minutes. This being my first time at the office I was super excited to see such a vibrant office with students. Being a nursing student myself I truly appreciate seeing businesses offer spaces for our students to learn and utilize our skills. I put on my nice paper gown (I'm not joking, the quality was above par considering its paper) and sat there awaiting the doctors entrance. 1 hr went by and no doctor, 2 hrs went by and there was still no doctor. At this point I have to admit that my patience was nonexistent! I went into that office in pain due to what I believe to be endometriosis and sat there waiting for 2 hrs! Forget the fact that I have to use the ladies room every 15 minutes and prancing through the office in a paper gown isn't an option, but I was uncomfortable in regard to pelvic pain. No one even popped their head in to say, "the doctor will be in shortly", "we are running slightly behind", they said nothing. As a person going into the profession, I would never treat my patients with such lack of professionalism or disregard. Thank you very much for making me feel like I didn't deserve your time and that my health wasn't of importance! Very disappointed in this office and I would not recommend it to anyone unless you have an entire day to wait or want to feel as though "your just another number". read more

i think my experience with doctor helene was not really good. i have a health problem and she was making fun of it..i am not American and i think that was an issue with her. she forced me to do stuff that i dont want to do..the right of patient decision and right to refuse things should be respected. but she wasn't respectful..in addition, the lab technician took 8 tubes of blood at once claiming that dr helene ordered that. it was alooot.i have never seen this before. i have an insurance plan that will cover everything. they called me later finding that she sent an experimental tests that is not covered by the plan..i had to pay it out of pocket!!! i didnt need that she do experiments on me that has nothing to do with my health problem!! also, she has not givin me any treatment. one time i went to emergency room i tried to call her but no answer!..in addition, she prescribed a very expensive iron supplements that even the insurance plan does not cover. obviously she was taking advantage of me and my insurance company! i dont recommend her to anyone. read more
