This place lies a little bit further out from Copenhagen centrum, but can be reachable by 6A bus from Nørreport (get off at Bispebjerg Torv) and you can see the solid building of Grundtvig church looming across the park. Bispebjerg gets even more popular in the springtime when the cherry blossom trees bloom. These days they put a sign where the "kirsebæralleen" (cherry tree path) is, but just in case you miss the sign, it's way on the back left of the cemetery complex, near the burial chapel. This place is definitely worth going in the springtime.

With many small paths, hidden corners, open lawns and lots of green and flowers in spring and summer it's perfect for a quiet walk, or for sitting on a bench and taking in the sun. Just please, show a little more respect than the people who use it as a toilet for their dogs - other peoples dead relatives lie buried here.

But as of a few years ago it is now open to the public during limited hours. It is a quiet place that is not nearly as well-pruned as Assistens or Bispebjergs' cemeteries but the slight overgrowth gives a beautiful atmosphere of a secret garden. There are also a lot of trees, making for a cool walk under their canopy even on a muggy summer day. Grilling and sunbathing is definitely not allowed here (what is wrong with you, why do you want to grill in a cemetery?!), in fact men must wear a hat to enter the site or else borrow a kippah from the watchman. Please be respectful while you enjoy a nice walk.
